Notes: I’m on holidays and I’m not writing half as much as I wanted to. Hit me! *bad joe!*
As probably some of you have noticed I’m a little Dommie-fangirl *squee*... Well, I was pissed till approx 5min ago cuz German television has FINALLY decided to show Lost – on Mondays which means that I can’t watch it. *grumble* But 5min ago a friend of my younger sister volunteered to tape it for me!!! Yay!! So this chap is dedicated to you, Mück, although you’ll never read it.... THx!!!

8. Black as the darkest night

Dave’s POV:

It is so utterly dark in here. Sometimes I even think I’ve forgotten the golden light of long summers passed, unable to warm my hands at the heat of their memory. I have reached the end of the golden weather and winter has settled in my heart, only dirty shreds remaining of what once were green leafs.

All the bright colors seem to have faded away to a grey mess that now seemingly dominates my life. The light has gone with the colors, draining away into endless darkness.

I don’t care for anything but the light to come back into my life to fill the emptiness in my heart. The despair is the worst of it all. Despair as black as the darkest night that the light won’t come back, that the emptiness will remain unfilled...

“Harry Sinclair! You’re such a fucking twat!”

Harry grimaced slightly, closing his eyes as he didn’t want to face his older sister’s accusing gaze. “I thought at least you would be on my side!” he mumbled darkly.

Margaret snorted and shook her head. “You still have to learn a lot about men, brother!” she told Harry, giving Harry a slap on the back of his head.

“Ouch!” Harry yelled, rubbing his head. “And what do you know about that anyway? I should be the expert or who has a dick dangling between his legs here?”

Margaret slapped him again, laughing when Harry grumblingly stood up and sat down on the floor to get out of her reach. “Women and men are not that different, Harry,” she started to explain. “Men want to be loved, too. You really can’t blame Karl for walking away when you start talking unromantic crap!!”

“I did tell him I loved him!” Harry tried to defend himself. “But Karl wouldn’t listen to me!”

“Yes, because all the while you would tell him there was no such a thing as love! Jesus Christ, Harry! One could think this is your very first relationship!” Margaret exclaimed. “You have been in love before, right?” she asked softly.

Harry sat there silently for a while and nodded then. “Yes,” he replied. “I did love Susan,” he whispered weakly, staring at the ground. “But that’s a long time ago...”

Margaret moved to hug Harry closely. Susan had died in a car accident 12 years ago when she had been on her way to meet Harry. Margaret remembered very well how devastated her brother had been when he had heard the news. Susan had been a childhood friend of her and Harry’s. Many years later Harry had fallen in love with her. They wanted to marry but then Susan died.

“It’s okay,” Margaret mumbled soothingly, stroking Harry’s back. “Karl’s the first male you’re in love with, right?” she asked tenderly, smiling sadly when she felt Harry nod.

“Yes,” he breathed hardly loud enough for Margaret to hear. “And it’s scaring the hell out of me. The others didn’t mean anything to me and I’m still afraid to invest feelings into a relationship. I ahve ever been since...Susan...”

“I know,” Margaret sighed. “But Karl is not going anywhere and he ocviously loves you back...”

Harry groaned and buried his face in his hands. “At least he did before I fucked everything up...”

Margaret rolled her eyes. “Harry! All you have to do is move your ugly arse out of that fucking door, apologise and you’ll have him back!”

“Ugly arse?” Harry had to laugh despite the tears burning in his eyes. “Marge, you haven’t seen my arse for at least three decades!” he huffed. “It’s not that bad...”

Margaret felt the urge to hit her brother with something preferably big and hard. “Why am I even trying to help you?” she lamented. “You aren’t bloody listening to me!”

“I do listen to you!” Harry protested. “You called my arse ugly!!” he said proudly in a accusing voice. “And I told you it is not!”

Margaret smacked Harry’s head. “Go to Karl and talk to him!” she begged. “Please!”

“It’s not that easy...” Harry tried again. “I don’t even know if he wants me back...”

“When does th Loch Ness monster usually show up?” Dom drawled sleepily, snuggling deeper into Billy ‘s arms.

“Billy chuckled softly. “After the fifth shot of whiskey. Why?” Tenderly he stroked Dom’s blond strands hanging into the younger man’s eyes.

“Don’t know...” Dom mumbled. “Just wanted to know...”

“You’re talking crap, Dommie.” Billy laughed affectionately and placed a kiss on the top of Dom’s head. “If I didn’t know better I’d say you’re pissed.”

Dom snorted softly, his warm breath caressing Billy’s chest. “Am not. Only had four shots!”

“And oy how many shots does a bottle of whiskey consist in your opinion?” Billy asked amusedly.

Dom frowned, thinking about the question. “Don’t know,” he finally said. “Maybe 6,5...”

“I see...” Billy decided not to comment further on Dom’s opinion about whiskey bottles.

Dom cocked his head slightly and looked up into Billy’s eyes. “If you could choose between a legless dog and a wingless parrot, which one would you take?”

“The wingless parrot, but...”

“Why would you choose it?” Dom interrupted Billy.

“It seems less sad. Dom, why are you asking me all these questions?” Billy looked at Dom a little worriedly. “What’s wrong?”

Dom shrugged. “Just wanted to know what you think about these things....”

“Ok...” Billy sighed. “Good to know that my opinion is so important to you...” He felt Dom nod against his chest.

“And if you could live on any planet you wanted, which one would you go to?” Dom continued questioning Billy.

“Saturn.”

Dom seemed to think a moment and then nodded slightly. “The rings, of course.”

“Yeah,” Billy smiled. “You?”

“Pluto,” Dom answered without hesitation, a cheeky grin on his face. “To be as far away from you as possible.”

“Thank you, Dominic!” Billy laughed, slapping the other man’s shoulder slightly. “Can we change roles a bit and I ask you some questions? That okay?”

Dom shrugged his shoulders. “I guess,” he mumbled.

“Okay.” Billy sat up a little to be in a more comforatble position. “First of all, why are you asking me all these weird questions?”

“I wanted to check how seriously you take me,” Dom answerd hesitantly.

“Says the man with the rainbow colored cell phone,” Billy snorted. “And why do you doubt that I’d take you seriously?”

“No one ever did,” Dom admitted. “They all thought I was just one crazy freak.”

Billy alughed. “Well, you are! You can’t really blame them for that!”

“Yeah,” Dom breathed. “Maybe not... But...” he inhaled deeply. “I can talk to you about whatever crap that comes up in my mind and I’ll get a serious answer, I...”

“Yes?” Billy asked gently.

“I’m in love,” Dom stated in an amazed voice, his eyes searching for Billy’s. “After such a long time I’ve finally found somebody who’s just as insane as I am!” Dom’s lips stretched to a happy smile full of love. “Can you believe that?”

“Shut up,” Billy growled and lowered his head to Dom’s to silence his lover with a kiss. “Love you, too, Dommie,” he breathed softly between kisses. “Although you’re a crazy bastard...” He paused, giving his last sentence a little thought. “Or maybe because of that...”
