Ch:51 Do You Remember Me?

Hey Ladies!!!!!!! Love the comments. One thing is certain, Ashva understands Haldir better than he does her. And I think he is about to make a big mistake.
....................................................................

There you stood a distant memory
So good like we never parted
Said to myself I knew you'd set me free
And here we are right back where we started
Something's come over me
And I don't know what to feel
Maybe this fantasy is real
Now I know I see what I want it to be
But its still a mystery

Do you still remember me on the street of dreams
Running through my memory
On the street of dreams
You are on every face I see
On the Street of Dreams....................Street of Dreams by Rainbow

Ashva took a step back as he entered her talan, a cold sneer curling his lip. Why was he mad at her? What had she done?

"Getting ready to leave again?" he asked, taking her right hand in his. "Looking for a new lover, are we?"

"Haldir, I...."

"Don't say anything," he said and pressed a finger to her lips. "I don't want to hear your lies." She looked scared. "You leave this time, I won't take you back." Her eyes clouded with tears, but he didn't care. He was hurting, too. "Do you think you will miss me?" he asked and brought her hand up to his face. Taking her index finger into his mouth, he gentle sucked on it and watched her eyes. She was so easy to arouse. Placing the hand on his shoulder, he bent to kiss her. He meant to burn himself into her, make her need him so bad that she would not be able to live without him. She responded to his kiss, parting her lips for his tongue, meeting it with her own.

It was good sex, slow and all consuming. She died on his tongue and once more when he took her. And he was certain when she hissed his name in the depths of passion that it meant something. She loved him, she told him she did, whispering it into his ear as he found his own release. Then lying against his shoulder, she seemed content and at peace. She kissed his shoulder and caressed his body.

The gentle reverie ended with someone pounding on the door. Ashva got up and wrapped the cover around her shoulders while Haldir rolled over. If someone was foolish enough to come pounding on her door while he was there, they would have to just deal with seeing his naked butt, he wasn't dressing until he was ready to.

Ashva opened the door to Rumil. "Ashva, I just heard!" he exclaimed excitedly. "The Lady is going to let you bring the wolf cub Elrohir found back here from Rivendell. When are you leaving, and I can I go too?" The tears springing into her eyes stopped him.

"What wolf cub?" Haldir asked, ice suddenly shooting through his veins. He could see the tears in Ashva's eyes.

Rumil entered the talan and was not really surprised to see his brother there. "Lady Galadriel just told me that her grandsons have a cub for Ashva, and all she has to do is pick it up," he explained. "I asked her if she could spare me for the ride over the mountains and back." Smiling at Haldir, he said, "I knew you would be too busy guarding the borders."

Ashva looked up at Rumil and softly said, "That won't be neccessary."

"Why?" he asked, knowing deep in his bones that something was terribly wrong. Ashva was crying and Haldir had a look of unbelievable regret on his face.

"I'm leaving," she said and started to dress. "I'm going back to Rivendell."

"No," Rumil said anxiously. "No, you're family."

She smiled through her tears and laid a gentle hand on his face. "I am Lord Elrond's Horse Master. I need to get back to work." She refused to look at Haldir as she finished dressing and then threw some things into her saddle bag. "I was going to wait until tomorrow," she finally said to him. "I had hoped you would have gone with me......" She shrugged her shoulders and turned away. She left the talan with the saddlebag over her shoulder.

"Go stop her, you fool!" Rumil hissed at his brother.

Haldir started to get up and then stopped. He sighed deeply. "After what I said, I don't think I can."

"Then you are bigger fool than I thought," Rumil growled at him and then ran after her.

Ashva refused to look at anyone as she walked quickly down the path that led to the stable. She would take her gray gelding and her ada's stallion. When Lady Arwen returned to Rivendell, she had left only those two horses behind. She was dieing inside and wasn't really sure she would make it back to Rivendell. She wanted to scream, to slash her wrists until every drop of blood was gone from her body. She wanted him to run after her and say he was sorry. She wanted him to ride to Rivendell with her for the wolf cub.

Reaching the stable, she got her gear and led her ada's stallion out to saddle. Hearing someone running towards her, she looked up hopefully and then died a little more inside when she saw it was Rumil. Why couldn't she have loved him? Why did it have to be..........

"Ashva, please," Rumil pleaded. "Haldir is an idiot at times, you know that."

She smiled as fresh tears burned her eyes. "It's all right Rumil. We will always be friends."

"But I wanted to see the wolf cub," he said as his own eyes got misty. "See what you are doing?"

"Me?" she tried to laugh. "Look at me."

"I was starting to think of you as a sister," he confessed and hugged her. "I had really wanted to see your wolf."

"Give it time Rumil, and you will," she promised. "Just give it a little time. Tell Orophin good-bye for me."

She seperated from him and finished saddling the stallion. Then before mounting, she put a halter on the gray gelding and led him out of the stall. The black stallion with the white face whinnied softly. She made her good-byes to him and then mounted the gray stallion. Leading her gelding, she rode slowly out of the barn. Every step towards Rivendell was like an ice pick in her heart. She looked up and saw him watching her leave. Why didn't he stop her? Why didn't he....? She closed her eyes and nudged the stallion forward. She would stop only once on her way bacl to Rivendell.....to visit her ada's grave. Her beautiful ada.
