Chapter five: Reasons revealed

Legolas sat up as someone knocked on his door, quickly, he lit the candles, near sprinting to the door, opening it with a smile.
Rumil passed over the leash, “Your father says to enjoy” He bows light, then turns to return to the king, as he was requested to.

Legolas bit his lip as Haldir crawled in and he closed his door, locking it. Kneeling before the marchwarden, “I am sorry for this Haldir”
The marchwarden narrowed his eyes, “Not sorry enough not to make use of it”
Legolas blinked, “Haldir that wasn’t my-” He was cut short as the marchwarden stood, looking down on him. Legolas looked up, eye to eye with that same erection that earlier had brought a blush to his cheeks.

And now he felt it again and he rose quickly, removing the collar, the braid from his hair, the hair falling free, beautiful, “I had no intention of doing anything like that…”
Haldir opened his mouth to snap a witty reply at the prince, but closed it as he saw the honesty in Legolas’ eyes, “But then…why?”
Legolas blushed anew, “I-I…I” He sighed, “I don’t know how I should explain this…”

Haldir looked about the room, moving to the window to look outside, “Would you try?”
Legolas looked at Haldir, “Do you remember? When I first came to Lothlorien?”
Haldir couldn’t help but smile as the memory came to him.

“What’s this? So far away from home young princeling? So far with no arms?” The guards patronized him but Legolas stood proud, facing them, “My guards were slain, we were attacked at night, by orcs…They died saving me…It should have been me”

Haldir had been watching, amused, but at the words of the Mirkwood prince, he’d moved forward, “They died proud, dutiful and with honour, they died protecting you, prince of Mirkwood, because they wouldn’t see harm done to you. We all would die for our Lord and Lady, without a moment of hesitation. It would be an honour. Feel no guilt over their loss, but remember their bravery”

Legolas had smiled, his heart soothed, calmed…the look in his eyes-

Haldir nodded, “Yes, I could never forget it” Legolas blushed, “When you spoke to me, I-my heart fluttered…I …I often tried to make you notice me, to find a reason to talk to you…”
Haldir gasped in silent understanding, cupping Legolas face softly, “You were young…So innocent. I noticed these things, but tried to pay heat to them as little as I could because I didn’t want to take advantage. A crush, it didn’t need to be more than that, I couldn’t be sure, so…I kept my distance.”
Yet, realizing how close he was to the still considerably young elf, he took a step back, his hand dropping to his side again.
He still wasn’t sure.

Legolas looked up at Haldir, searching for a lie in the admission, certainly not expecting that it was the truth, he’d always believed the marchwarden simply found him unattractive, and…what if he did think so? And simply told him otherwise because he believed he must?
He look at the Lothlorien elf, “You may speak the truth Haldir, there will be no repercussions if your answer doesn’t please me.”

The look of confusion spreading over Haldir’s face was enough to tell the prince that indeed, he had been honest, and, another blush crept unto his cheeks, “I…my apologies”
Haldir stepped to the elf again, lightly cupping his face and pressing the softest kiss to the prince’s lips, “Keep my company when you can, I wish to court you my prince”

Legolas gasped audibly at the words, looking down, away, stammering as he considered what to say, “I-I…M-my father…I don’t think that h-he would…a-agree”
The Marchwarden smiled, “I would willingly accept your father’s fury for whatever moment spent with you, if…of course, it is your wish to do so as well”

Legolas looked up shyly, nodding his head, feeling quite like a silly maiden but unable to help himself and stop his reactions.
Haldir smiled, pressing another kiss to the soft velvety lips of the prince, who purred in quiet delight of it.
Not wanting to, but knowing he should, the marchwarden drew back, his fingers running through the silken hair of the prince, “You are beautiful”
