Chapter 5 - Techno Babble


"Why do you hate that man?"Legolas asked with a frown. "Is he bad?"

"I don't know. He just rubs me the wrong way.I've never liked him." Shannon responded.

"You don't like many do you."Haldir retorted.

"No as a matter of fact I don't." shannon added

*The door bell rings again*

"Danmit."Shannon cursed as she got up from the chair.She open'd it, just as Carter forced his way in.

"Where is rachel?" He asked, overlooking Shannon.

"She is upstairs taking a shower, what the hell do you want?" she retorted.

"I see you are in a sunny mood as always.And who are these guyies." he replied

"Friends of ours." Was all Shannon said she could feel Haldir standing behind her a glare on his own face.

Haldir didn't know why but he did not like this guy. His gut had a funny feeling with in it. He watched this Carter like a hawk.

"Well I want to talk with Rachel."Carter said."And I"m not leaving till I do." He said firmly. Shannon rolled her eyes.

"Right, I'll go upstairs and get her out of her shower. You know how grumpy she gets when she is disturbed."

"RACHEL!!!!!!!!" Shannon shouted in her most annoying voice which made the elfs cring and cover their ears and look at eachother.

"RACHEL!!!!!!"Shannon shouted again. Finallay Rachel came down the stairs wrapped in a blue cotton towel. Legolas and Carter gasped as they saw how she was dressed. So did Haldir. Shannon just rolled her eyes.

Rachel saw them standing with Carter, who was looking really annoyed and told him to follow her the the kitchen.

"I will go and make sure she is ok."Legolas stated as he looked in the direction they headed.

"She'll be fine, she can kick his ass.If need be." Shannon said with a smirk. "He wouldn't get far."

After several minutes of conversation in the kitchen they saw that Carter walked out and headed out the door. Rachel stormed back up the stairs. "Don't bother me unless someone has died!"She stated and she slammed the bathroom door.

"So you want a tour of the house? I can show you how stuff works?" Shannon asked and the two nodded. "First this is the living room."Shannon said with a wide sweep of her arms.

Legolas and Haldir both looked around and grew wide eyes when they saw the large tv, it was a plasma tv that hung on the wall.

"What is that!?"Haldir asked first.

"That is called a TV.We get all kinds of shows. Like news from around America and the world as well as fun tv shows like Commedy and such. Music stations. Here let me show you."

Shannon took a large remote control and they watched her closely each standing on each side of her. She pushed a read button and it turned. Haldir gasped and covered his ears it was to loud and Legolas fell backward shocked at what he saw. Shannon giggled.

"Sorry, I like it loud." And she turned the volume down. Once they got used to the tv they seemed very interested in it as they watched how she changed the channles. "There is over 300 channels so there is normally something on."

"Are they inside the black tube?"Haldir asked, his eyes wide with wonder.

"No, it comes from a Satellite in outerspace, that circles the earth."

"What are all these?" Legolas asked as he walked over to a cd holder and dvd holder.

"Those are called cd's and the others are called dvd's.Which are movies that are recorded."Shannon said, Legolas and Haldir pretended to comprehend knowing they'd probably never understand. "Later tonight, we'll watch one and I'll show you. You'll love Mel Gibson. He's so cool."Shannon said with a giggle.

"Who is this.. Mel?"Haldir asked sounding jealous.

"Jealous are we?" Shannon asked with a smirk.

"By the Valar, No!" Haldir stated looking annoyed, that he let his emotions show.

"He is in denial."Legolas said smirking as he glanced at Shannon with a raised eyebrow. Shannon had the grace to blush but turned quickly away and lead them to the dinning room.

"This is wear we eat and hold parties sometimes well at least Rachel does, I'm never around when parites are thrown."

"It is beautiful."Legolas said with awe

"Thank Rachel, she is the one that designed it all."

They walked through swinging doors.

"these are the double doors to the kitchen, they have two sets of swinging doors on each end be careful, it hurts like hell when your nose gets slammed by thor.\or." Shannon said as she opened them up and the walked through the doors to an amazingly large and spacious kitchen.

"This is the most important place in the whole house, this is Rachel's space. She knows were everything goes. I rarely cook but at least I clean the kitchen."Shannon was explaining everything. Haldir was checking everything out and then went to the fridgerator and looked at it a moment then opened the door and stepped back.

"This must be magic!!!!!" Haldir exclamied.

"No its technology. We'd be a lost place with out it and that is called a fridge. It keeps stuff cold so it won't go bad.So you don't have anything like that were you are from?" shannon asked.

"Nay, we do not."Legolas said as he he punched a few buttons on the microwave and it started, jumping back as Haldir pulled out his sword and pointed it at the machine.

"we just got that!" Shannon said laughing. "It won't hurt anyone. It heats stuff up and don't look at the light to long, Legolas. You will get radiation." Shannon said as he pulled him back.

"Raidation?"Haldir asked.

"Its powerful energy waves. Its not nice and can do a lot of damage and over time it can even kill you.Come on." She said as she dragged the two.

She felt herself warming up to the two elfs. She was starting to like their charming ways. She wondered if they did it on prupose or were just like that. But they were starting to get to her

"Where is everyone?" Came the voice of Rachel.

"In the kitchen." Shannon shouted again.

"Do you have to shout all of the time?" Haldir said complaining.

"Yes, if it annoys you, elf boy!"Shannon giggled

"I'm not a boy!"Haldir said with a scowl on his face. He said facing shannon.

"Oh really?" Shannon said with a smirk.

Rachel came into the kitchen and rolled her eyes heavenward.

"Are we going to have to seperate you two?Are you almost done with the tour, I'm gonna cook breakfeast."

"I'll stay and help you lady Rachel."Legolas said with a charming smile as he bowed. Rachel blushed a deep red and

"Oh please.."Shannon rolled her eyes. "Come elf boy , looks like its just us two." She took Haldir by the arm and dragged him out of the kitchen.

"Ok this is the bathroom and don't touch anything that you don't have to."Shannon said as they entered a small room with a large tube and an odd seat.

Haldir glanced all around at the odd stuff. He had no wish to touch any of it anyhow." what is that?" Haldir asked. pointing to the tiolet.

"That is called the tiolet, if you need to go to the bathroom that is where you go." Shannon said, she was trying hard not to laugh at his __expression.

"You people are werid." Haldir said picking up on their language already.

"You have no idea, I'll show you when the time comes but this is how you flush the tiolet." she said as she lifted the lid and pushed down the silver handle and the water went twirling down the drain. Haldir jumped back and shook his head. "This is the shower." Shannon said as she pushed aside a black curtain. and she turned on the water.

"Interesting."Haldir said with a sigh this was geting to be to much. He started to imagine her naked and in the shower and frowned when he did so.'You stupid elf, stop that.' He thought to himself. But the image was perminatly burned in his mind.

"Ok, not much more to go."Shannon said as she turned off the water.

She lead him out of the bathroom and toward the two rooms hers and what will be his room. "This is my room."Shannon said as she opened it up.

Haldir gasped. He'd never seen such an odd arangement before. He then noticed a large bed in the corner of the room. The sheets were black, green and silky. He also pictured Shannon naked on the bed wriggling underneath him as he gave her pure pleasure. He turned away from the bed and focused his attention on the strange contraption that had some odd things in it.

"What is this?" he asked hiding the emotions that stirred from with in.

Shannon watched Haldir as he glanced at the bed and wondered what he was thinking, he hide his emotions well, but noticed him stiffen a bit. He was.Like those Vulcans on Startrek. But she could see a sparkle in his eyes that hadn't been there before.

"That is called a fish tank and those are called angel fish swiming inside of the tank."Shannon said as he lead her from her bedroom and then to the guest room were he would be staying."This is your room." She said

"I like it. Nice and simple."He stated and she rolled her eyes at the words.

Just then Rachel shouted. "BREAKFAST IS READY!!!!!!!"

"Do you two always scream at each other?" haldir asked

"Yes," Shannon said with a smirk,"We are lazy and don't want to go where the other is."

Haldir rolled his eyes this time. "I can imagine."

They headed into the kitchen to see Rachel and Legolas cooking, well Legolas was helping her anyhow. He had on a cook's hat as well as an apron that said. "kiss the cook." Haldir glanced at the prince and shook his head.

"Go to the dinning room table."Rachel ordered as she noticed Haldir's reaction to Legolas wearing the apron.

"Yes, ma'am!" Shannon did a mock salute.

Haldir and Shannon both went into the dinning room and sat next to each other.No insults or smart ass remarks were thrown. Everyone was hungry and that was enough incentive to stop all wars.

"You two are quiet."Rachel commented as she came in carrying a large silver platter that held, four plates with Shannon's favorite food. Omletes.

"You two are starting to like each other?"Legolas asked with a hopefull look on his face. He wished his friend could find someone true, for his heart had been broken in an unbearable way that no one should endure.

"Dream on." Shannon retorted.

Rachel shook her head at her friends words as she passed around the plates of food and then went to get the orange jucie. sitting back down at the table she said, "Alright, eat up."

Legolas and Haldir looked at eachother and then their plates of food. The girls wad thd them wondering what what was wrong.

"Is it good?"Haldir asked staring at the foreign food on his plate.

"You won't die from it."Shannon said with a smirk. "Go on try it."

Not denying the fact that it smelled delicious haldir hesitantly took at bite.

Legolas watched Haldir as he took a bite of the strange food. The expression on his face was priceless."This is amazing! try it Legolas!"Haldir Commanded.

"I'm glad you like it, they are called Omletes."Rachel said as they all began to eat breakfeast having small talk every now and again....
