33: Mara

Author's note: Instead of an alternate ending it looks like the characters want the story to continue. So here is Part II for want of a better title.
This section has traditional M/F, F/M/M and a little bit of incest....just a warning
...............................................................................................................

From the time she was old enough to walk, Mara had loved watching her beautiful golden haired ada work with Lord Elrond's horses. As Elrond's horse master, he was responsible for their care and training, and there was no sweeter memory for her than the times he took her riding with him. Sitting in front of him when she was small, she would kick her small legs and cry faster. And when they were finally flying over the turf, she would squeel with joy, safe from danger with his strong arm to hold her safely against him.

When she got old enough to ride her own horse, he had a nice gelding already trained and waiting for her, and she put many miles under its feet that first year she rode him. Her ada had told her that mares were the smartest and were the easies to train, but once a month they turned cranky and would not tolerate a rider. He said they were thinking about the stallions, who while flashy and bold were not too terribly bright. Geldings, in his opinion, had more sense than stallions and were more managable than mares. His own personal mount was a gray stallion, but then she had always believed that it was her father who made the stallion look bold and not the other way around.

Being Lord Elrond's horse master also meant that he was called upon as an escort when the Lord or any of his company went on royal visits outside of Rivendale. Mara hated it when he was gone. Not having a mother, her death still something of a puzzle to her, meant she had to stay with friends until he returned. But he always brought her something back, like the beautiful cloak pin in the shape of a mallorn leaf that he had brought home from Lothlorien on that trip. It was certainly beautiful but not as beautiful as the great bow that he had brought home for himself. It curved and recurved sensuously with the bow string strengthened by a single thread of elven hair. She remembered being intrigued when he showed it to her.

He practiced on the great bow as often as he could, and she watched enviously as the great weapon groaned in defiance of his pull. In spite of his better judgement, he found a bow that she could use and together they woudl practice. If anyone thought poorly of him for raising his daughter to be a youth, no one said anything.

But maturity had a way of cutting in on her idyllic life of horses and her beautiful ada. She was turning into an ellyth and the young swains couldn't help but notice that the horse master's daughter was beautiful in a wild, untamed way. Instead of sitting and listening to poems and gentle songs, she was more likely to be riding with the wind over the wide vales of Rivendell. And there were eyes that found that more interesting than the gentle ladies of Elrond's house.

Elladan and Elrohir, the great lord's twin sons, did not tary long in Rivendale except in spells. They were hunters and among the fair folk, they were famous for their courgage and cunning ways. The twin wolves of Elrond hunted Orcs and were not adverse to traveling the wilds with the Rangers of the North. When she was younger, Mara had thought none were so handsome in a frightening way. Indeed she did not find them interesting in their fine clothes. Only when they stalked into Rivendell after a long hunt did she feel the blood rise to her face.

Now that she was older, of age to be considered 'company', she noticed they were visiting the stable more. She did not know why, but their presence seemed to disturb her father. And after one visit in which Elladan actually stopped to speak with her about a particular mare, her father took her to the home of a healer, Lady Anaine. That was when she learned the simple truth about Lord Elrond's beautiful sons. She was of age and they wanted to be the ones to 'break her in'. It was crude, but that was how their minds worked. Her father knew he couldn't protect her from them, so he wanted to make sure she knew what was about and was protected from any complications.

This intrigued Mara. Her childhood fantasies had been terribly simple compared to what she was being told. "They want me because I am a virgin and nothing else?" she asked curiously.

Lady Anaine smiled as they discussed the workings of the male mind over tea. "That is probably so," she admitted. "But it is not every ellyth who catches their eye."

Mara couldn't help but chuckle. "Do they do everything together?" she asked.

Lady Anaine looked wistfully as if remembering something pleasant and said, "Not always."

Mara considered it a moment and then asked, "And they will not leave me alone until they have it?"

"Well, I wouldn't make it sound like something you just give away," Lady Anaine said.

"Why not? It means nothing to me. Would I be wrong to ask something in return?"

Lady Anaine looked at the young ellyth in riding clothes and asked, "What is on your mind?"

"The twins are great orc hunters. I would have them take me orc hunting," she decided.

Lady Anaine set her cup of tea on the ornate little table beside her chair. She had never heard anything like this before. "Orc hunting is dangerous," she reminded Mara.

"Indeed. I need to learn how to do." Setting her cup down, she waited for Lady Anaine to dismiss her.

"Wait a minute," Lady Anaine said and got up. Disappearing into a back room, she returned with a small vial of a red liquid. "Drink this."

Mara took it, studied it for a moment and then downed it. It tasted sour. "What is it?"

"It won't protect you from orcs," Lady Anaine commented dryly, but it will protect from too much.......elf."

Armed with this information, Mara left the healers house and headed back towards the stable. It was then she spied Elrohir, disguishable from his brother by a small scar on his chin. He was lazing in the shade of a large tree pretending to read a book. Mara said pretend because it was well known the twins were most indifferent towards literature. Deciding she might as well take control of the situation, she approached him.

Playing the gallant, he sat up and made room for her on the bench. "You were at the healer," he noted. "Are you feeling poorly?"

"No. Lady Anaine was explaining to me how elves and horses are different," Mara explained.

"Oh, and how are we different?" Elrohir mused.

"The mare always knows what the stallion wants. That can not be said about elves."

"I see," he said and smiled.

"Yes, so let's quit playing games and speak plainly," she said. "You want me, and I want to hunt orcs. Does this interest you?"

"Not at all," he countered. "Orc hunting is not for ellyths."

"Then I suppose I will have to learn to do it on my own," she said and stood up to leave, but he stopped her with a strong but gentle hand.

"Why do you want to hunt orc?" he asked curiously.

"I may have to face them one day and would need to know how to protect myself."

"And you feel Rivendell will soon be over run by orcs?" he asked.

"No, but you hunt orcs, and I would like to learn from....the best." She stopped and hoped emphasizing the word 'best' would appeal to his male vanity. It was well known that the twins were horribly vain. They were among the few who could actually make dirt clinging to their skin look sensual. She looked down at him, at the full curve of his lower lip and the way his smokey eyes always seemed to be hiding what he was thinking. He was giving a lot of thought to her offer. She didn't know it at that time, but Elrohir was most interested in her because Elladan had claimed the last virgin that they had shared. It was his turn to 'educate' an ellyth in the ways of the flesh.

"I must speak to Elladan first about allowing you to come with us," he said and stood up. "I will get back with you."

Mara inclined her head. She returned to the stable and found her ada brushing down a young mare. He looked up but didn't say anything when she climbed on the top fence post and watched him. Finally breaking the silence, she said, "I've asked Elrohir to take me orc hunting."

Her ada stopped and pursed his lips before returning the brush to the mare's legs. "Why do you want to go orc hunting?" he asked.

"It's a trade actually. They take me hunting, and....." she shrugged her shoulders. "I see it as a nuisance anyway."

"A nuisance?" he asked curiously. "Perhaps, but orc hunting?"

"Only if Elladan agrees. I think I have Elrohir convinced."

Her beautiful ada shook his head and said, "I did not mean to raise a son, but I see I have."

"You could not done better," she told him. "From the time I was old enough to know I existed, I have wanted to ride horses and hunt orcs."

"I think the orc hunting is rather recent," he countered with an affectionate grimace.

"Perhaps. I thought when the twins returned the last time, and they had that haggard look of battle about them, I thought they never looked handsomer."

"And you think you will look more beautiful haggard from battle?" he teased.

"No, but those are the kind of elves I want to associate you. Like you."

"Now I am blushing," he said and set the brush on a small stool nearby. "You are grown now so I can say yes or no anymore, but I caution you. The twins are hard elves in the field."

" I hope that is so," she said as he returned the mare to her stall.
................................................................................................

Elrohir had not expected Elladan to agree to Mara's offer, not at first anyway, but he wanted her and if killing an orc or two would get him his prize, then he would take her out by himself.

"Nothing dangerous," he assured his brother. "We'll just take her into the mountains awhile and flush up some game and then......" He smiled.

Elladan shook his head and said, "All right. A week in the mountains might be fun, and since she is the horse master's daughter, it might actually do her some good to learn what's out there."

"Indeed."
.................................................................................................

Mara was not surprized to see Elrohir wandering into the stable with his traveling clothes on. Her ada inclinded his head at the young lord and received a nod in return.

"How may I assist you, my lord?"

"Elladan and I are going into the mountains for a week, and your daughter asked to join us. We have agreed to take her hunting, but assure you no harm will come to her."

Mara didn't hear the rest of the conversation, she was running back to her home for her things, which just happened to be packed and waiting.
..................................................................................................

Heading out on foot, armed with bows and swords, the twins had not expected her to be able to keep up, but she surprised them that first day out. It was there intention to enter the mountains east of Rivendell where they weren't too many orcs...they had just about killed all those off.....wander around until they found one, kill it....let her kill it if it wasn't too troublesome......accept their payment and then go home. Simple plan.

What they had not expected was her sudden passion for the mountain. She had never seen it up close except as a white cloud on the horizon. But now that she could see it, she acted as if she had been born to it. Surefooted and agile, she climbed the slope beside them, always wanting to go higher.

"We will not find orcs on the snow peaks," Elladan informed her as they readied their night camp in the protection of some rocks.

"True," she agreed and then spent the rest of the night watching a full moon climb over the great crest. She may have gone to sleep, but at some point it was light and Elrohir was waking her.

"Time to go," he said.

Elladan considered this one of the strangest hunts he had ever been on...looking for orcs so his brother could lay a virgin. He would have laughed if they hadn't stumbled across something that they had not expected, a small cave opened in the face of the mountain, and they had hunted orcs long enough to recognize the smell of several.

"Looks like you are now going to get your chance," Elladan remarked and motioned for her to go down the slope a few feet and be ready to use her bow. Elrohir on the other side of the opening crouched and listened as his brother made a small torch. Once he had it burning, he tossed it inside and waited. Nothing.

Mara watched the brothers closely. Here their real beauty surfaced, Elrond's twin wolves. Elladan entered the cave first and then Elrohir. Mara waited, her bow ready. A terrible sound issued from the cave, the sound of metal slicing through bone, the screams of creatures that lived in elven nightmares.

Wide eyed she waited, her heart hammering. Then something black sprang out of the cave and roared at her. Without thinking she released her arrow. If that didn't kill it, Elrohir's sword burying deep in it's back did. Elladan followed him out. He had a rag in his hand and was wiping the black blood off his sword.

"Looks like you've killed an orc." he said, noticing where the arrow had passed through the creature and was sticking out the back of its neck.

Mara looked at the creature and smiled. She had stood her ground and killed an orc. She couldn't have been happier. And the smug look on Elrohir's face indicated he meant to claim his payment. She was half tempted to ask him if he would be willing to do it now while the sweat of battle was still on his skin, but that might have been a bit too bold.

"Can I keep its weapon?" she asked hopefully.

"Whatever catches your fancy," Elland said. "It wouldn't hurt to look around a little longer. There shouldn't have been that many orcs here."

"How many were there?" Mara asked.

"Five. A lot for this region."

No more orcs or orc caves were found, so Elland found a suitable place for the night. It was now understood that Mara would honor her part of the agreement. It was also understood that while Elrohir was to be her lover for the evening, Elland did not mean to just sit and watch.

Mara discovered that while she was shy about her own body, she couldn't get enugh of looking at Elrohir. He was beautiful, lean and hollow flanked, and his mouth on hers was tender at first and then became more passionate. Ellan stripped down and laid behind her, and Mara wasn't sure if she was going to survive. EAch brother capture a tender breast and suckled so slowly she thought she would die of wanting. She didn't know who, or if both, was caressing her skin, but one of them slipped his hand down to her nether regions and teased the delicate pearl that responded so wantonly to his touch. The pleasure that flooded her body came so suddenly that it took her completely by surprise. Elrohir released her breast and chuckled softly to himself. He was the elf with the wicked hand.

"It may hurt a moment, but that is all," he promised and climbed over her. Mara frowned as he entered her, and he was right, it was uncomfortable, but he waited for her to get used to him. Feeling his magnificent body over and in her, she closed her eyes and caressed his back. If only there was a way to....to what? What did she want to do?

Elrohir gasped as something new started happening to him. Pleasure so deep it seemed to start at his spine started building in his body. He didn't control it, it controlled him.

"What are you doing to me?" he gasped. She opened her eyes and stared at his beautiful face straining with passion. Elland didn't understand what was happening, but he could see his brother was in the throes of a great lust.

"Release him!" Elland ordered sharply.

Mara removed her hands from his skin. Elrohir came violently, seeming to empty his entire being into her. It was incredible to behold. Then he collapsed on her, drained and spent. When he finally rolled off, he knew unequivocally that he had never been touched like that before. And he craved it again.
..........................................................................................................................

Mara returned home to her beautiful ada certain that the twins were now through with her. She had made love to both of them as agreed, although she had only used the touch on Elrohir. And from his actions she had seen how she could heighten his pleasure.

She wanted to show ada what she had learned. It never occurred to her that he might not want that kind of love from her. When she had slipped into bed with him, he had expressed surprise. And when she tried to kiss him, he held her away from him. No matter how much she loved him, she must never try that again. Mara couldn't believe he was turning her away. All of her life she had worshiped him, held him up to be a greater warrior than Glorfindel, and now he was putting a wall between them.

That night she dreamed of running horses and mountains.
