Part two:

When Galdor left Cirdan’s study he headed to the beach where he could think. On the way past the training grounds he heard his name called.

“Galdor, wait up” Nórdithen and Gondithen ran to catch up with him. “We have just finished sword practice and were given a break for mid-day meal. Where are you headed?” Their identical faces were covered in sweat and they carried their swords with them.

”I am going to the beach.” Galdor replied

“Well wait here a second and I’ll get lunch and bring it with us. A nice dip in the water sounds good, does it not Gondithen? Galdor looks like he could use some cooling off, you seem a little flush, and like you have had some strenuous activity lately. Been to see Cirdan have you?” Nórdithen said with a smirk while walking towards the kitchens.

“You will have to forgive my brother he is not as refined as I.”

Galdor and Gondithen walked slowly towards the beach not saying much. Galdor was too lost in thought and Gondithen respected his wishes not to talk. Galdor had known the twins for most of his life and they had been friends for all of that time. Their mother was close kin to Cirdan and after their father was wounded in battle they were left in the care of Cirdan when both of their parents sailed over the sea.

They were half way to their destination when Nórdithen caught up with them.

“So we are all going to Rivendell, isn’t it exciting? This will be the farthest away from Mithlond either of us have been; how about you Galdor?

“What?” Galdor asked. He had been thinking about how hard it was going to be for him to leave Cirdan and had missed what Gondithen had said.

“I asked if you had ever been farther than Rivendell, wow Galdor, what is wrong with you today?” They have found a spot on the beach for their picnic and Gondithen was spreading out a blanked to sit on.

“Will you shut up and leave him alone, he is obviously upset about leaving and does not want to talk about it. Now hand me some of that chicken, I’m famished.” Gondithen said.

They ate the rest of their meal in silence listening to the waves beat along the shore. By the time they had finished Galdor was beginning to come to terms with the separation.

“Let’s swim” he said while standing and beginning to disrobe. They spent the rest of the afternoon in the water splashing and playing in the waves.

“Now this is the Galdor we know and love,” Gondithen said. “You will see, we will have fun on this journey and will be back before you know it.”

“I hope so.” Galdor said.

“Besides, I hear there are many beautiful elves in the house of Elrond. You may have found your hearts desire Galdor, but Gondithen and I are still looking”
