Chapter 1: Learning a lesson

“…..Napoleon was recaptured again and was send to Elba. There he died, thus ends the significant character in Europe’s history. Liz, are you paying attention?”

“Uhm, ’thus ends the life of a significant character’?”, Liz asked her teacher. The seventeen year old was wearing dark, baggy jeans with a neon pink tank top. The tank top said ‘If you think I’m a bitch, you should meet my mom’ in black letters. A long, black coat hang over her chair. She also wore pink tennis shoes. Her hair was divided in two ponytails at the back of her head.

It was a rainy day. The sky darkened by the minute. A huge storm was forecasted, though no one knew when it would hit their small town. At the sight of the sky came a memory of a dark and stormy day. sometimes she still has nightmares about this kind over wheather. They were always the same.

She stood in a dark and gloomy forest. It was the same forest were her parents had a small cabin. But when they were at the cabin the forest was light green with young trees spurting from the ground, flowers blossoming en little creatures running all over the place.

But now the forest was almost black. The rain came crashing down on the trees and leaves. No creature was to be seen. Apart from the rain, no creature could be heard. An enormous thunder could be heard and lightning struck a branch, causing it to fall hopelesly to the grounds.

Scared, Liz started to run, trying to get out of the forest. The more she ran, the thicker the trees would get. No matter in what direction she ran, the forest seems to be closing in on her. Suddenly, in front of her, was an open and dry grassfield. It seems like it has never seen the darkness nor felt the rain in the forest. When Elize entered the field, she notices there was a path. The path was Y-shaped. She began to walk on the mysterious path. When she came to the splitsing, she could hear a voice.

"Before you lies two path. They lead to a different world. Both bring love and sorrow, but to choose one is to leave your current life and all that you have known behind you. The left path leads to the life you should have and will answer all your questions you may have. The path on the right leads back to your current live without any answers. Choose wisely"

"Liz! Are you daydreaming?!", her teacher shook her out of her musings.

"No sir.", she answered quickly.

"Allright then.", the teacher said and went back to explaing. Liz looked around. Sitting in a classroom with more than twenty other students, Liz was getting bored. Writing on a desk wasn’t nearly as fun with this teacher. She had been passing notes with her best friend, Kiara, but they ran out of topics to talk about. Liz was counting the seconds till the class ended.

‘Honestly, why should we learn the history of Europe while we live in the United States?’. She thought to herself.

RING!

‘Finally! Freedom!’, she thought. She walked over to her locker when she felt an hand on her shoulders. ‘Damn! This is not suppose to happen now!’

“What do you want?”, she asked. As she turned around she noticed Jack standing behind her with his telltale smirk. Jack was bad boy to the bone. This day, he wore his black leather pants low on his hips. A dark grey wifebeater hugged his chest and over his shoulders hang a black, leather jacket with spikes on it’s collar. The black cowboy boots finished his outfit. His dark blue hair hang in front of his eyes so you couldn’t see his eyebrow piercing, but had more sight of his silver earring. Liz couldn’t help but to think that he is gorgeous. ‘Such a fine specimen of a man should not be aloud in public.’, she thought.

“I wanted to know if you would like to go see a movie with me. Tonight.”, Jack asked her in a shy but husky voice.

“S..s..sure, I would love to go.”, she stuttered after staring at him, thinking this was just a dream.

“Great. I’ll pick you at eight. See you babe.” And away he walked.

Liz still stood bewildered. She couldn’t believe he asked her out! The guy she was crushing on for so long! She had to tell Kiara about this! Better find her then. And she went searching for Kiara. It didn’t took long for her to spot her best friend. She was just closing her locker and started walking towards the exit.

“Hey! Kiara! Wait up!”

Kiara turned around. She wore a long velvet coat with underneath a black tank top which had a picture of a cute, little bunny and underneath the saying: ‘ I didn’t do it”. A tight, short skirt hugged her hips and butt. At last she wore high combat boots. Around her neck lay a delicate necklace with a pentagram. She wore her hair loose that day. And if you notices, she had a bellybutton ring and a tongue ring.

“What’s the rush Liz, I’m going to be late.”, Kiara said. “Make it quick.”

“Jack asked me out!”

“He didn’t!”

They began walking to the doors.

“Yes he did! He’s gonna pick me up at eight! It has taking me ages for him to even notice me.”

“Congratz Liz, but I got to go. You know that.”

“All right. I’ll see you tomorrow.”, and with that, Liz walked to her car. While she was driving, she thought about her date tonight. What should she wear? Which movie shall they see? This isn’t a dream? She was so consumed in her thoughts, she never noticed the truck on her right was closing in a little too fast. Liz was pulled out of her thoughts by screaming people and honking. When she looked to her right, it was already to late. She brought up her arms to cover her head and pushed her body to the lowest point it could go. In a second it was over. Everything became black.
