Chapter 2

" You there… in the tree…," she commanded, her hands going to her
hips as she assumed her best huffy stance.

" Come down here and face me if you want to stare!"

Orophin looked around him half expecting someone else to be up there,
the woman's attitude far more aggressive than he would have guessed.
It seemed her personality was indeed as fiery and rare as her hair
color.

Slipping down from his perch in a soundless leap, the young Galadhrim
landed but a mere few inches from the glowering female, his lips
curled in to a mischievous smirk at her bravado.

" Oh thank-you my lady….", he mocked, his tongue catching on the
rough Westron speech," You are quite correct, the view is indeed much
nicer from here."

The young woman's eyes widened as she took in the tall stranger who
stood gracefully a full head and half taller than she, and who's
handsome face was framed by the most interestingly pointed ears. This
was no man…. but an Elf…the first she had ever been this close to in
her whole life, and the realization both aroused and unnerved her.
Her mother had filled her with countless stories about the Elf kind
and their despicable ways and how that despite their luminous
appearance their hearts crawled with evil and darkness.

Instinctively she backed away.

Orophin chuckled at the young one' sudden change of attitude, his
hands coming up in a gesture of peace.

" I am sorry mellon-nin…I mean you no harm, ` he offered, feeling a
bit ashamed of his behavior.

" I am Orophin…of Lothlorien"

The woman eyed the Elf carefully, noting especially the full quiver
of arrows and the daggers that he wore at his waist. Though he spoke
of peace, he looked far from peaceful and she was completely unarmed.
Orophin cocked his head and followed the human's line of sight. He
did not see himself as threatening, but then again he was the one
with the bow. Slowly he crouched and set the weapon on the ground,
flashing her a smile that he hoped would ease her apprehension.

" Aislin……." It was out before she could slap her hand over her
mouth. What was she doing offering up her name to lurking Elves.

" Aislin…" Orophin rolled the name over his tongue as if tasting
it. " A beautiful name, meleth," he purred, seating himself beneath
the large tree.

Finding her courage again, Aislin nudged the bow out of the way with
the tip of her foot before approaching the Elf that had the audacity
to sprawl himself beneath HER tree.

" What do you want with me Elf?" she blurted, embarrassing herself
with how much like her mother she sounded. He had not threatened her
or made any " despicable" moves yet she treated him as if he was a
horror.

Orophin plucked at some grass that tufted about the base of the oak
and stretched a wide piece between his thumbs before bringing it to
his mouth to create the most ridiculous sound. The odd squeal echoed
about the garden, breaking the tension.

Aislin could not keep a straight face for she had not expected this
elegant creature to act so… childishly. A grin trembled upon the
edges of her lips and she tried her best to look unimpressed.

" What were you doing up MY tree" she questioned narrowing her green
eyes in an attempt to look more annoyed than she actually was.
Orophin dropped the grass from his fingers and looked that the
youngling incredulously.

" Your tree?" he inquired, quite amused that the human could possibly
believe that she held ownership to the oak.

" Yes, Oroph......Elf!!!! It belongs to my family…it is on our
land." Aislin bit down her frustration and pulled herself to her full
height, which was not as formidable as she would have liked.
" And so are you, " she accused, eyeing the stranger carefully.

"Well, " replied Orophin crossing his legs and his arms and settling
against the solid trunk of the tree in question, " It never mentioned
that it belonged to you" A soft breeze chose that moment to rustle
the leaves and as if on cue scattered them like a rainfall of green
around the smirking Elf's shoulders.

Aislin's mouth fell open at the sight and she gazed at Orophin with
round glittering eyes.

" The tree talked to you?"

" Oh yes…," replied the Galadhrim, leaning his head languidly against
the bark, his blue eyes dancing with mischief.

" It told me many things…... tales about the birds, and the lack of
rain… And of a certain young girl who brought some lad named Haneth
to hide behind its branches while they…""

Aislin rushed forward and clamped her hand over Orophin's mouth
utterly embarrassed at what the Elf was about to reveal. Beneath her
palm she felt him smile and yanked it back when his soft lips
caressed her skin setting herself off balance. In an ungraceful heap
she fell into the Elf's lap, his arms steadying her against him.

" Well now, " he chuckled as she squirmed against his loose
embrace. " I think I like this vantage point the best of all."

" Let me go, " she protested, trying unsuccessfully to stand and
falling back into Orophin's waiting embrace more than once, each
movement tangling her skirts more tightly about her legs.

" By the goddess,' she whined, wiggling against the Elf's hips in
attempt make purchase on the ground. " Do help me up."

Orophin smiled down into the maid's flushed face and shifted his body
so that she could feel just how much he was enjoying this game.

"Oh I think I like you just where you are", he teased, as she ceased
struggling when his arousal nudged her backside.

" Ohhhhhh you are……you….., " Aislin flustered, her cheeks blushing
crimson, " You are despicable!!!!!!"

" Me??????" replied Orophin holding up his hands so that she could
see that he was not holding her against her will.

" It seems that it is you fair maid who is wriggling deliciously
against me…. You can remove yourself at any time…"

" I cannot, " she growled, not daring to move against the Elf's
growing concern, her body almost trembling with frustration.

" You cannot… Or do not wish to… ," teased the Galadhrim, whispering
softly into her ear.

"Help me up, " she breathed, a shiver betraying her body's reaction
to his close proximity.

" Under one condition, " he murmured, his lips skimming the edge of
her ear as he breathed in her scent.

" One kiss…"

Aislin stilled completely, the Elf's request, not entirely repugnant
to her. In fact, her belly tingled at the prospect of those perfect
lips pressed to hers.

" And you will keep your word?" The youngling's eyes fluttered
closed as Orophin's mouth nipped at her neck.

" Aye… I will… " he replied, nuzzling the soft flesh that had move
closer to him.

" Alright….." Aislin shivered and suddenly pushed away from
Orophin's chest, shifting in his embrace until she faced him, his
clear blue gaze even with hers.

" One kiss…."

Orophin smiled and tipped her chin with his fingers and brushed his
lips tentatively across hers, decidedly making his one kiss something
he or she would not soon forget. The human tasted unlike anyone he
had sampled before, bittersweet and sharp, like a crisp green apple
not quite ready to eat. It was the taste of mortality and he savored
the feel of her mouth as she curiously opened to him.

Aislin was prepared exact the Elf's price and then send him upon his
way, however she was not prepared for the pull of her body to his as
his lips caressed hers in what was to be a just a simple kiss. Never
had she shared a mouth so sweet or tasted lips so decadent.

Against her better judgment she slipped her arms about his neck and
deepened the kiss losing herself in the new sensation with a soft
moan.

Breaking the kiss, Orophin shifted forward and began to lift Aislin
to her feet, his body protesting his chivalrous motives.

" What are you doing, " she breathed hotly against his parted lips,
her fingers hopelessly tangled in the silken fineness of his hair.

" I am keeping my word, " he replied, tracing the soft curve of her
jaw with the back of his hand.

" Foolish Elf, " she moaned wrapping her freed legs about his waist,
and capturing his lips once more.
