Summary/Notes: The Council of Elrond meets, Glorfindel and Erestor have a discussion, Legolas discovers his feelings for Erestor

Erestor sat beside his lover on a low bench in the garden. The Council would be convening soon and Legolas’ news to Elrond did not make the day seem any brighter. Both Elves had a bad feeling about what was to be revealed at the meeting and were trying to take their minds off their worries. The Celorelor quietly gasped as the Prince’s hand discreetly slid inside his formal robes, the strong hand caressing the inside of his thigh. He looked at Legolas through lids weighted with growing passion, eyes darkening with desire. They said nothing as they touched one another, the back of Erestor’s hand caressing the archer’s smooth ivory cheek, his other giving a gentle squeeze to the warrior’s thigh. Legolas inched closer so that their bodes touched, he inclined his head and brushed his lips against those of the Noldo’s, teasing, drawing him closer before retreating just out of reach. Erestor was enraptured with the Mirkwood Prince, his eternal optimism, his gentle grace and beauty, and his fierce warrior’s heart. While Thranduil had set his loins on fire, the Prince set his whole being alight, body and soul alike. He could not get enough of him; his mere presence brought the Counselor pleasure and joy.

Legolas gazed at his lover, growing more captivated by the Noldo’s presence each moment he spent with him. He and Erestor had grown very close. The Counselor knew all his secrets, all his desires, all his fears, and this was comforting to the Prince. They shared a love of art and music and history with one another, and could talk for hours on end. There were no pretenses with Erestor, no falsities, no feigned innocence. The Counselor knew where the Prince’s heart lay and made no demands upon it. Legolas trusted the Noldo, something he did not do easily, and he knew Erestor would never reveal his secret to anyone, not even his beloved warrior or his honored Lord. Erestor brought him comfort, gave him the strength to bear his burdens in the absence of his father. As he gazed into Erestor’s luminescent eyes, he felt a sensation that he could only describe one way. He thought it to be impossible, that it was not the way of their kind. Once an Elf bonded their heart to another it was impossible to break that bond, and it went against everything in their nature to betray it. Yet, there it was, that unmistakable feeling that he had with only one other in his life, love.

He pressed his lips to Erestor’s and sighed, he felt the Counselor’s hands travel into his hacarecarefully skirting his braids so as not to muss them. He leaned into the Noldo as their tongues gently explored one another’s mouths, soft moans coming from each of them. He squeezed the top of his lovethigthigh and opened his mouth wider, drawing the Counselor’s tongue further inside as he heard him moan in response. They broke from their kiss and Legolas looked deep into his eyes. He pressed his forehead to his lover’s and he whispered, “Amin mela le, Erestor.”

Erestor’s eyes widened for just a moment then his lips curved into a smile that was impossible to prevent. He pressed a gentle kiss to his beautiful Prince and whisd, “d, “Amin mela le, Legolas.”

Their moment of intimacy was broken by the sound of Glorfindel clearing his throat. Erestor closed his eyes and quietly groaned in disappointment as he reluctantly pulled away from his Prince. Legolas closed his eyes for a brief moment and then turned to look at the Vanya. He raised his eyebrows when he saw the look upon the warrior’s face and sigh“Yes“Yes?”

Erestor flushed slightly upon seeing the look in Glorfindel’s eye and stood to address him, “What is it, my Lord?”

Glorfindel narrowed his eyes for a moment and curtly replied, “Lord Elrond is requesting your presence, the Council is ready to convene.”

Legolas rose from his seat and bowed his head, “Thank you, Glorfindel.” He flashed a smile at his lover and turned and walked up the path leading toward the meeting.

Erestor moved to follow him when Glorfindel caught him by the arm. “Not so quickly, meldir.”

Erestor turned and looked up into the warrior’s blue eyes. It had been years since he and Glorfindel had lain together but that did nothing to quell the ache in his heart. At least his Prince brought him some joy, the warrior seemed to do nothing but bring him pain, no matter how inadvertent it may be. “What is it, Glorfindel?”

The warrior leaned down and spoke quietly to the Counselor, “Why is it that every time I look around you are making a fool of yourself with the Mirkwood seducer? I can understand why you laid with his father; Thranduil is a… worthy lover. However, I fail to see what it is about his son that you find so fascinating.”

Erestor jerked his arm away and took a step back, his eyes widened with hurt then narrowed with incredulity. “How dare you lecture me about making a fool of myself after the way you have carried on with Elrond’s sons! I think that in comparison to you I am conducting myself in a far more dignified manner!”

Glorfindel took a step forward, “Ssshh! Do you want everyone to hear you? Is it your intention to hurt the Twins as well as me?” Erestor backed away again, the backs of his knees hitting the stone bench he had sat upon. The Vanya cocked his head, a questioning expression in his eye, “Why do you seek to escape me, Erestor? You know I would do you no harm.”

Erestor’s composure all but snapped, “You have done me nothing but harm, Vanya! My intention has never been to hurt anyone, you nor the Twins. I have kept your secrets; I have resigned myself to being cast aside in favor of the Twins. However, I have to question your motives, Glorfindel. For it seems you are the one that intends to do hurt. Legolas, unlike you, loves me, as hard as that may be for you to believe. All of this is beside the point, Glorfindel, what I do with my private life is no longer your concern. Tend to your own, meldir, you are in far more jeopardy of looking foolish than I.” He stormed past the warrior leaving him alone to feel ashamed of how he had spoken to his dearest friend.

Elladan and Elrohir sat upon a bench outside the stable, Elladan nervously playing with a lock of his hair; Elrohir sat poised, like a cat ready to pounce upon its prey. The tension in the air that day had been palpable and the Twins were awaiting the end of the Council meeting so that they could speak to either their father or Glorfindel about the outcome.

Elladan muttered, “This is not good, Elrohir, not good at all. I have a bad feeling in my bones.”

Elrohir nodded, “I agree, war is coming, gwador; I can feel it. The Ring has brought an air of evil with it that hangs above Imladris like a dark cloud.”

Elladan scooted closer to his brother, seeking the comforting feel of his warmth. “I abhor violence, Elrohir, you knoat. at. But, if you are to ride off to war, I will ride with you, I will fight by your side.”

Elrohir placed a hand upon his brother’s thigh, “I could ask for no better companion to fight beside, Elladan. You underestimate your own strength and prowess with the sword and bow. Iw yow you hate battle and hate killing, but it is what we must do to protect all that is dear to us, to protect our home.”

Elladan nodded, “I know, gwador. I only hope that we do not lose too many that are dear to us. I worry for Estel and for Glorfindel, as well as for you.”

Elrohir closed his eyes and leaned his head back against the barn and sighed. “Estest gst go to face his destiny now, Elladan. He cannot hide with us forever; this is his birthright, his fate. I will be proud to see him ascend the throne of Gondor and reunite his people, when and if that day comes.”

Elladan nodded, “I know. Manwë protect him. Arwen would be destroyed if evil were to befall him.”

Elrohir sighed, “I wish we were alone, down by the river, I wish I was making love to you instead of waiting for the doom of the world to be pronounced.”

Elladan shifted on the bench and looked at his brother, “Perhaps it is not doom, Elrohir, perhaps there is hope left. I want to believe Estel will succeed and lead the free peoples of Middle Earth to send Sauron to his doom once and for all.”

Elrohir smiled at his brother and pressed his forehead to Elladan’s, “He will, Elladan, we have to have faith, you just keep reminding me of that.”

Elladan smiled, “Aye, I will, gwador, I will.”

Legolas sat upon the edge of Erestor’s bed; the weight of all of Arda seemed to rest upon his broad shoulders. Erestor paced back and forth, his hands clasped behind his back. “There has to be another way, or someone else he could send. This makes no sense. Why you? Why did he have to choose you? Why can I not accompany you? It is foolish; it is impossible! He expects two Men, one of whom I have my doubts about, four Hobbits, a Dwarf, Mithrandir, and you to just walk into Mordor and simply drop the Ring in the fire? I do believe he has finally lost his mind. It took an unprecedented army of Men, Dwarves, and Elves over ten years to breach the Black Gates. We lost many of our best in that battle, and he expects the nine of you to do it alone?”

Legolas’ calm voice drifted into the enraged Noldo’s path, “Erestor…”

“This is ridiculous! I am his Chief Counselor for Eru’s sake and he dismissed me like I was a common fool! No, no, this cannot be… There is another way, I know there is, I just have to find it.”

Legolas stood and gently caught the Counselor by the arm, turning him and placing his fingers upon his lips. He pulled him into an embrace and whispered, “I love you for wanting to protect me, truly I do. But this is the only way, and it is my duty.”

Tears began to glisten in Erestor’s eyes, “Why your duty? Why does this fall upon you? You are so young, Legolas, you have so much to see and experience, this is too much to ask of you.”

The Prince smiled gently and caressed the Noldo’s face, “Ai, Erestor, I am not as young as I may seem. I am ready for this, a’maelamin; I can do it. I have faith in my companions and in Lord Elrond’s judgment; you must also.” He pressed a kiss to his lover’s lips, silencing his further protest. “Please, meleth nín, let us not spend our final days together arguing. We do not know how long it will be before we see one another again, if ever. I want to spend these last days in your arms, making love to you.”

Erestor sighed and pulled his lover tight. “As you wish, my beloved Prince. I do not want to argue either.” He pressed his lips to the Prince’s ear, “Make love to me, Legolas, hold me in your arms and let us forget all that has passed this day.”

Legolas pulled his lover to the bed and they made love throughout the night.
