Sixteen
I know everyone wants to read about Erestor and Glorfindel but right now we are back to the twins!
Let me know what you think!
Part Sixteen:
“Would you like to take a walk with me, Gondithen?” Elladan asked, as he held out his hand for Gondithen to take. They held hands as he followed Elladan out in to the balcony and down a flight of steps towards the largest waterfall.
“What is it?” Elladan said with a laugh when he noticed his companion shooting glances at him every few steeps.
“Nothing,” Gondithen replied.
“Come now, it must be something. Why do you keep looking at me?”
“I’m sorry; I guess you just intimidate me a little.”
“Intimidate you? Why would you be intimidated by me?”
“Look at yourself, you are beautiful and one of the greatest warriors of this age. Your father is the Lord of this valley; he could be high king if he wanted to. You have Maia blood running through your veins and your grandfather is a star for Valar sake! Need I go on?”
“All you say is true, Gondithen, but I thought you saw past that and saw the elf that I really am. I may have an illustrious family, but I am just a simple elf. I would rather be out in the woods hunting rather than engaging in court life. Look at me, Gondithen, if you can not see past all the other stuff, then what I am beginning to feel for you will only bring pain to me. I do not want someone who only cares about the wealth or prestige I can bring them.”
Gondithen took Elladan’s face between his hands and looked him in the eyes “I can see you, and I would be attracted to you if you were the lowest warrior in the ranks. I see your heart and your good spirit. It is just I am no one special and it is hard not to feel very insignificant next to you,” he said with a smile “But I will try.” With that he placed his lips over Elladan’s in a passionate kiss that took both of their breaths away.
When the kiss broke Elladan ran his thumb over Gondithen’s lips “You are wrong, you know; I think you are very special.”

Nórdithen sat very close to Melpomaen while listening to the minstrels play and one white haired elf sing. He wracked his brain to think of something to say to get Mel’s attention. Since they had entered the Hall of Fire, Mel had been ensnared by the music.
“He is very good.” Nórdithen said to try to engage Melpomaen in conversation.
“Yes, he is. He’s the best singer in Imladiris, perhaps in Middle Earth.” Melpomaen replied with out taking his eyes off the elf on stage.
“Who is he?”
“Lindir,” Melpomaen whispered the name.
When the song ended, the musicians took a break and came down off the stage to get drinks and talk with those gathered. Lindir walked straight to where Melpomaen and Nórdithen were sitting. When he reached them, Melpomaen stood and place a kiss on his lips.
“You were magnificent as always, love.”
Nórdithen’s world came to a halt as the couple kissed again leaving nothing to the imagination about their relationship.
Melpomaen turned to Nórdithen “Lindir, this is Nórdithen from the Havens. He and his twin escorted Galdor here for the council. He has been keeping my company while you were too busy to spend time with your intended. You had better be careful or he will steal me away from you.” He said with a laugh.
Nórdithen mouth went dry as he stood and clasped hands with Lindir, “It is good to meet you, Master Linder, you sing beautifully.”
“Thank you, Nórdithen, and may I also thank you for keeping this one out of trouble for the night. I hope he did not talk your ear off.” Melpomaen gave Lindir a small shove but could not keep from laughing at the comment.
“So you are engaged?” Nórdithen hoped his disappointment did not show in his voice.
“Yes, I did not tell you that? I guess I am just so use to everyone knowing about it I took it as a given. We have been engaged for over a year now and still have not set a date. Elrond thinks we are going for the record of longest engagement in history! But we are happy as we are and have no reason to rush.”
Nórdithen gave a small smile and hoping not to sound rude excused himself. “I think I shall retire now. I would like to get up early and hit the practice fields. Good night, Melpomaen, and it was nice to meet you Lindir.”
“Well that was sodden.” Melpomaen said when Nórdithen had left the hall.
“Mel, I can not believe you” Lindir said shaking his head.
“What? What did I do now?” he asked
“Poor, Nórdithen, you did not tell him you were attached. He had hopes of courting you I would wager.”
“What? No, we just talked.”
“Yes, but you did not see his face when you called me love, nor did you see the way he was looking at you when you were not looking at him. You know I love you, Mel, but sometimes you can be very dense!”
One other in the hall had noticed the way the Nórdithen had been looking at Melpomaen, and he wished he could spare him the disappointment he felt when he learned of the relationship between the scribe to the minstrel.
