An Ocean of Trees

“Shannon!” Haldir fumed as he barged through the back door.

Running down the stairs Shannon and Rachel rushed to their guests.

“What the hell is wrong with-” the sight of Haldir covered in mud almost brought tears to her eyes, as she laughed between words “What …happened… to… you…. elf boy?”

“You think this is funny? This is no laughing matter. Woman go get my bath prepared. I am an Elf; nothing should surprise me and yet here I am covered in filth. Its Tamuril I tell you, one of her spells again. My senses aren’t as strong in this world. I do not like it and I will not be covered in dirt a minute longer now go prepare my bath!” Haldir demanded.

Immediately her laughter ceased as shock hit Shannon at the anger and blatant disrespect in his voice.

“Haldir” Legolas interrupted, “we are guest in their home, you should know better than to treat our hosts with such disrespect. You are acting as if you were a child and you owe them both an apology!” he stated, outraged at his friends behavior.

Locking eyes with Rachel Legolas showed no emotion. He wanted her, and he could see the desire she had for him as well.

Turning away from the scrutiny of Legolas’ gaze Rachel faced Haldir. “I’ll go run you a bath,” and with that Rachel headed to the downstairs bathroom, she needed to get away from Legolas, he was a distraction which intensified at the new information provided by Shannon.

“That’s more like it” Haldir muttered trying not to offend the women any more, his pride would not allow him to apologize.

Shannon marched up to the muddy elf pointing her finger in his face, “If you ever come at me or Rachel like that again I will kick your Ass, comprende? This is MY house and I give the orders around here not you. I’m the HBIC!” she said glaring at the arrogant elf.

“Com-pren-de? Woman your folly words and pathetic threats do not scare me. I shouldn’t have yelled but I did and I do not apologize for what’s already been done so you can threaten me all you want but I don‘t think you are capable of causing any bodily harm to me.

“Haldir!” Legolas stepped forward, having heard enough of Haldir’s disrespect. “Apologize now!” Legolas stated ready to knock some sense into the elder elf.

“Well she’s human so I can’t expect anything more..” Haldir trailed off realizing he said the last part out loud.

‘I can’t believe him’ Shannon though as anger coursed through her veins. Turning around she mumbled her frustrations as she headed towards her room slamming it shut behind her. She hated the arrogant elf yet was drawn to him and that fueled her anger even more.

Noticing the expression on Legolas’ face Haldir realized he was wrong and quickly averted his gaze as Rachel walked back in. He wasn’t used to taking orders from humans, he knew he had to apologize and soon, Shannon had a temper which he did not want directed at him.

“Haldir your bath is ready just go down the hall to your right, there are towels and soap in there. If you need anything just call my name.

Haldir wasted no time getting to the bathroom but stopped at the door, “Thank you Lady Rachel” he said before closing the door.

The air seemed to thicken as Rachel faced Legolas.
