Part Ten:
Galdor could find nothing to wear. Every robe he tried on was either too reveling or looked dumpy. He wanted to look good because Erestor was a highly respected lord of the valley, but he did not want to draw too much attention to his body for fear of Erestor getting the idea that he was interested in him. He finally settled on a white robe with trim under tunic of light blue, the colors of his realm which always reminded Galdor of Cirdan with his blue eyes and oh so light hair. It was fitted but not so tight as to show off the curve of his backside. He wore his hair down flowing freely to his shoulder blades.
He had just finished dressing when a knock sounded at the door. A maid was on the other side to take him to where Erestor was waiting. He followed her down the hall and up a flight of stairs then down another hallway until they stood in front of a large set of double doors.
“I will leave you here,” she said with a smile. “Master Erestor is just inside.”
Galdor swallowed nervously as she walked away and he raised his hand to knock. He only waited a few seconds before Erestor opened the door.
“Come in, Galdor. I am glad you came.” Galdor followed him through the room. As they past, he looked around and noticed that the room had two doorways to their left. Through one he could see a large bed with plush pillows ~this is his private quarters! What have I gotten myself into?~ Straight ahead of them was another doorway, this one covered with curtains of deep burgundy that fluttered in the breeze.
“I hope you do not mind eating outside. The view from my balcony is one of the best in Imladris.”
“Not at all.”
A small table was set up on the balcony which also contained some other chairs and a lounge that almost looked like a sofa.
“Have a seat, Galdor. Would you like some wine?”
“Just a little, thank you.”
“So,” Erestor began as he poured the wine, “How have you enjoyed your stay so far?”
They talked about the history of Imladris, Galdor was surprised to learn that Erestor was with Elrond when he discovered and settled the safe haven. They also talked about who was present for the council and who had not shown up yet. Naturally, the conversation came around to Galdor’s home and his history there. He was careful not to mention anything that would bring to light the intimacy that he and Cirdan shared. Once dinner was done, Erestor stood and walked to a chair that pointed out over the valley.
“Join me, Galdor; I am sure we will be more comfortable over here.”
Because Erestor had done or said nothing that, to Galdor, sounded like a come on he had dropped his guard a little and walked over to the lounge and took a seat. He rested his goblet on the floor beside him and looked up at the stars. They were not as bright as they appear on the coast, but he found Eärendil easily. ~I wonder if it shines brightest over this valley where his line still lives?~
Galdor was so intent on looking up that he failed to see Erestor stand and walk over to him until he came into his view above him. Erestor leaned down and placed his lips against Galdor’s, which caused the young elf to gasp unwillingly giving Erestor free access into his mouth. Erestor used this to his advantage and plunged in to the mouth below his. His hands came up as he pushed Galdor down onto the lounge until he had one on both sides of his head. He already had Galdor pinned under his weight before he began to struggle. This got Erestor even more excited and he ground his arousal into Galdor’s hip. Lack of air made him pull away slightly.
“What is the matter, Galdor, you act as though you do not want this when you have been begging for it all night?”
“No!” Was all Galdor could reply before the lips were back and sneaky hands were rubbing him between his legs. He tried to buck Erestor off but he would not budge. ~Oh Cirdan, Cirdan give my strength what should I do?~
Erestor left his mouth and traveled down to his neck he still had Galdor’s hands pinned above his head. Galdor yelled for him to stop as Erestor pulled on his robe and exposed his chest. Through the lust beating in his veins he began to register that Galdor might not want this. He was not playing hard to get, he really did not want this. Just than a force pulled Erestor off of Galdor and threw him half way across the balcony. He looked at the scene before him and saw golden hair.
Galdor looked up into a face that could have been an angel, Glorfindel had come. Glorfindel had saved him; he clung to the massive elf, and was lifted up and held at arms length.
“Are you okay? Did he hurt you?”
“No, no I think I’m alright.” Galdor said shakily.
Glorfindel looked at Erestor who was still crouched on the floor looking up at him.
“Glorfindel,” Erestor whispered.
“What were you doing? Do you have any idea who this is? He is Lord Cirdan’s lover. Erestor how could you do this?” There was hurt and anger as well as many other emotions in Glorfindel’s eyes. He helped Galdor to his feet once again and covered him with a throw from the sofa.
“Lord Cirdan’s lover? I didn’t know; I thought he was unattached. I never would have tried anything if I had known who he was.” he whispered “Please, Glorfindel, Galdor, I got carried away…” Erestor cried.
“No, Erestor, you did not just get carried away, you lost control completely. I never would have thought you capable of something like this. I suggest you stay away from Galdor in the future. And to think I am still …” Glorfindel stopped himself before he said too much.
Galdor had started to cry as Glorfindel picked him up, still wrapped in the blanket, and carried him down the hall towards his own room. They entered and Glorfindel set his precious cargo down on the sofa before the fire. He then went to the side board and poured Galdor some wine.
“Drink this,” he said placing the cup in Galdor’s hand. “It will make you feel better.”
“Thank you.” Galdor’s hands shook as he brought the wine to his lips and drank. “What were you going to say?” He asked, looking at Glorfindel who was staring at the fire with that sad look upon his face again.
“What?”
“Back on the balcony, you were yelling at Erestor you said ‘and to think I.’ You what Glorfindel?”
“I was going to say, and to think that I am still in love with him.” Glorfindel hung his head like a defeated elf.
“You love him?”
“Yes, for many years now, and I am almost ashamed to say I love him still. No matter what he has done in the past, or what he will do in the future. You must understand him like I do, Galdor. He has had a hard life and he overcompensates by playing the seducer, but that is not who he really is. I know that this does not excuse what he did to you tonight, and I believe that if I had not shown up Erestor would have gotten a hold of himself before he did you any harm.”
“Tell me his story.” Galdor asked.
“I cannot, for I don’t know the whole of it myself, and I would tell it through the eyes of love. If you wish to know the whole, true story you must ask Erestor, although I think you will have a hard time getting him to speak to you after the threat I made on him.” Glorfindel answered with a sad voice.
“Will you ever tell him?”
“He knows how I feel about him. He is too wrapped up in forgetting what has happened to him, and is not ready for real love again. I will not be just another one of his conquests, when I have him, it will be forever. I will not accept less than that.”
“How do you know of Cirdan’s relationship with me?” Galdor felt he was opening old wound for his savior and wanted to change the subject.
“Cirdan and I are friends and have been since me first life.” Glorfindel explained. “We correspond quite regularly, and I could tell that someone had won his heart. When I inquired further, he told me about you. You are a very special elf to make that old seadog change his ways.”
The comment had its desired effect when Galdor blushed and gave a little smile.
“I am happy for you both.” Glorfindel added.
“Thank you, Lord Glorfindel; I am ready to go back to my room now.”
“I will take you, and please do not call me lord; I have not used that title since my rebirth.”
Glorfindel slowly walked Galdor back to his rooms.
“Thank you again; I am not sure what would have happened if you had not been there.”
“As I said, Galdor, I know that Erestor would not have really done anything that would cause you permanent harm. I would not fear him if I were you. Goodnight, sleep well.”
“Goodnight, Glorfindel, I hope to see you tomorrow.”
With that Glorfindel bowed at the waist, turned on his heels and walked back to his rooms. But it was not easy for him to sleep when he got there. Images of Erestor swirled in his head. The first time they had met, the time they had spent together, that last fateful night before the end, and meeting him again in Rivendell.
Finally, he abandoned his bed and went for a walk in the crisp night air. His feet lead him to the bench where he had spent many sleepless nights. It had a clear view of Erestor’s balcony, from this spot he could see into his room and when lit from the inside he could see his heart’s desire’s shadow play upon the curtains. How he loved him and how he missed him.
