GAH! That actually happened to me! I was at a friend's riding horses and the one I was riding spooked and took off, but she flipped over after her foot got stuck in a hole in the ground. She basically did a nosedive and then a somersault, unfortunately with me still on her. Thank God I only broke my collarbone, but hot damn! It hurt like a bitch.

Anyway, good story, I feel so bad for Orli! And Viggo!

Thanks for reviewing Dinah. I'm sorry to hear about the similar accident you've experienced. And i would love to get further ideas from you, it would be very helpful. My boyfriend's sister actually had went through the same traumatic experience, and though she was never paralyzed from the waist down, it took a while to find her. We live out in the rugged wilderness, about three miles from civilization and everything else around us is pure wilderness. My boyfriend's family live about seven miles from civilization. Anywho, to make a long story short... my boyfriend's sister was taking a long time during her usual trail riding excursions, and my boyfriend was really starting to worry. We waited a bit, and then decided to call the police for a search and rescue. It took them about two days to find her and her horse. Unfortunately the horse had lost its footing and both horse and rider lost balance and my boyfriend's sister was crushed under its waist. When the police found my boyfriend's sister, she was unconscious but alive. Unfortunately, because the horse had fallen on its side and broken one leg, it had died. It's a fact that a horse's weight can crush them to death if they lay down for too long. My boyfriend's sister just suffered from a broken wrist. Sadly, she doesn't care to ride anymore, but she does still involve her life around horses. She's teaches therapy lessons for disabled children. Though she's made a strong comeback, she has never ridden since that accident.

You must know someone who has gone through this type of trauma. I've been there, done that and won my t-shirt. Same type of accident - horse falling and rolling on me. This has brought back some painful memories but you have done a great job to this point of showing just how strong the initial denial really is. The riding therapy is also very true. Just didn't say that the patient had to be tied to the horse - no balance. I was riding alone before I was out of a walker, jumping before I was walking unassisted. But the initial mounting on the horse was a freaking nightmare. I don't think I had a dry stitch on after that first 15 minute ride. The horse that fell and rolled on me was 19-1/2 hands and was also a stallion. I'm not quite 5'4" and the lowest part of his back was above my head. In order to brush him before and after riding and properly tack him (when I used a saddle - hate those things) I had to use a 3-step ladder. Needless to say I still have back problems - nerve damage on the left side.

Your love scenes between Orli and Viggo were not cheesy - they were appropriate - tender, loving and still in the "honeymoon" stage of the relationship. Your challenge now is to transcend the problem with Orli - not only icalically but mentally and emotionally. Orli will try to distance himself from Viggo - if you follow what actually happens in these cases. Withdrawal, bitterness, depression are real bitches on relationships. This will be Orli's 2nd go with this and his reaction has been right on target so far.

Good story. Though it would read much easier if you put spaces between speaking parts.

Everything is a bit lumped together and it's difficult to read. Otherwise, good story. Keep going!

thanks everyone for reviewing... and thanks for sticking up for me against the flames... i really appreciate it all. Yeah i've noticed that the first time it was pretty difficult to read so i tried to break it up, but everytime i tried to put spaces in between the sentences, it would seem out of whack. I'll figure something out. Right now i'm working on chapter four, and it's going ok. Kinda getting frustrated with it because i'm not really feeling the style, but i'll try to fix it as best as i can. Once again, i love all the reviews, even the bad ones. What can i say? You live and you learn. More later!

I'm sorry i just had to vent a little, i re-read Pained's review, and i couldn't understand her at all. I love you Willow for standing up and defending me. Pained, honey if you'd like you can discuss my "medical inaccuracies" with me because i think i'd know a little more than you, seeing as BOTH my parents are doctors. I know what I'm doing sweetheart, just READ the story, then you wouldn't have you waste your time with pointless drabble. thanks for reviewing though, i appreciate it.
