Looking for Romance

Disclaimer: I do not own the elves, the great Prof. Tolkien does. I, however like to play with them and always return them in perfect working order.
Title: Looking for Romance
Author: Jade
Email: elvenjade2@gmail.com
Pairing: Erestor/OFC (Tarias)
Type: FCHet
Rating: NC-17 overall, each chapter varies
Warning: AU, Het, Sex(eventually). Romance
Summary: Tarias in her own way admires Erestor. When one of her friends tells him just how much, she must decide to face him or run away. Will she stay and perhaps find the romance she has always dreamed about? Or will she decide there is no such thing?
Feedback: Yes please, I live for it!

A/N: (a) no, your eyes are not playing tricks and there is no need to adjust your screen. You read it right, this is an actual, and rare, Het story involving Erestor.
(b) sorry that this prologue is so short but I wanted to, as they say, set the stage. I promise all coming chapters will be longer.

Her days may seem ordinary to most others. She was no warrior, did not train with any and was not interested in hearing tales of from the elves who had returned from patrol. Not that she did not like these elves, she had friends who were warriors it was just not something that was of interest to her.

Instead, she spent most of her time in the library. Often losing herself in one of the many books that filled the shelves. Though she would sometimes read about the history of the elves, her favorites books were filled with romance. Elves meeting for the first time and knowing they had found their life’s mate. It always made her dream what it would be like if she ever found hers. Would it be love at first sight or would it be something that happened over time, friends who realized after many years that they loved each other.

She thought of the many friends she had now as she opened the book before her. She could not see any of them as anything other than just friends. She cared for them and would not want them hurt in any way but she could not see herself loving them, not in the way she read about anyway.

“Tarias is it?” She heard just as she felt a hand on her shoulder. Her hand covering her mouth quickly as she had given a short startled scream.

“Yes,” she replied, having taken a few deep breaths to calm herself. She had thought to be alone in the great library and had not heard anyone approach her.

“ I did not mean to startle you.’ Erestor said as he moved around the table and sat across from her.

“ I guess I was lost in my own thoughts” She replied, offering a shy smile.

“ It would seem so.” Erestor said. “ We’ve not officially met and I am Erestor.” He added as he held out his hand in greeting

“ I know” she replied, taking his hand gently “ You seem to already know my name.”

Erestor gave her a charming smile in return as he let go of her hand and had leaned back in the chair

“ I make it a habit to know the names of those who spend much time in my library” He replied “I find myself wondering if you have not already read every book in here.”

“Not quite” She said giving a soft quiet laugh “ just all the good romance ones” She added, giving a small shrug.

“ A true romantic?” Erestor grinned “ or do you read the books to be reminded that life never happens that way?”

“ I suppose it could.” She replied “ if one is lucky enough.” She added

Erestor tilted his head as he studied her silently for a few short minutes. She had gone back to reading her book but looked up at him occasionally.

“ This place is filled with books on our history” He said as he stood up. “ Very few of them talk of romantic notions or knights in shining armor” he added before he bid her a good day.

Tarias closed her book as she had watched him leave. She did not understand why males had such a hard time believe that romance was possible. Why they always felt the need to be the hero in some great adventure story, saving the world and having all females fall at their feet.

She smiled suddenly and went over to the older section of the library, her fingers slowly moving over the book titles until she found what she had been looking for. Removing the book carefully from the shelf she cradled it against her chest as she walked over to where Erestor sat at his desk

“ I know the story” Erestor said as he saw what book she had placed in front of him.

“ Do you?’ She questioned. “ Have you really read the story, Master Erestor?” She said, smiling when he finally looked up at her, his eyebrow arched.

“Every elf knows this story” He replied smoothly, placing his hand gently on the book’s cover. “ It is, after all, part of our history.”

“Indeed it is.” She nodded. “ Yet those who have heard it or read it have only looked at the adventure in the story. They want to hear every detail of Beren’s adventure. His capture and his escape. How he joined with Thingol to hunt the wolf that had in turned taken his life.” She said, knowing she had his full attention.” Yet most ignore the true reason that had started his great journey, what it was that had been his inspiration. Or perhaps I should say who had been his inspiration.”

Erestor blinked, if he had not found Tarias interesting before, he did now. Very few would have challenged his knowledge for history this way and that intrigued him

“ It was Luthien” He commented, arching an eyebrow when she gave a small laugh

“ Yes it was,” Tarias replied, nodding “ and if that, Master Erestor, is not true romance then I do not know what is.”

Erestor glanced down at the book on his desk after Tarias had turned and left the library.

“Interesting” He grinned, opening the book to its beginning pages “ very interesting, indeed.”
