Can't Find It!

Beta reader: chicky

The elf was getting frantic. He had pulled everything out of the closet, right down to the bottom. Clothes were strewn everywhere. Turning around he came upon the bed. He ripped the clothes off the bed that were there, then the blankets and sheets were next. Stripping the bed down to the mattress, flipping it over and finding nothing. The seneschal headed for the bookcase. Then he heard it. A door slammed.

"Glorfindel, what in Arda are you doing? Look at this mess!" Erestor walked through the door, stared at the upheaval that was made of his rooms. Slamming the door, the Advisor grabbed a hold of Glorfindel's shoulder and spun him around. "What is the meaning of this?" Erestor came to his rooms to find a parchment on Mirkwood.

Glorfindel felt himself spun around and facing Erestor. Erestor was the love of his life and they had been bonded for a few centuries. Their love was bliss and Glorfindel loved everything about him.

"I can't find it! I know it was here yesterday but now it's gone." Glorfindel turned his back to Erestor and resumed tearing the bookcase apart.

"What can't you find, my love? Maybe I know where it is." Erestor turned the seneschal back towards him and faced him.

"The whatchamacallit! It's gone!" Glorfindel walked around the other elf and made his way to the bathroom.

Erestor furrowed his eyebrows. 'What is he talking about' he thought. He went into the bathroom after his husband. "What are you talking about? What is a whatchamacallit?" He stopped Glorfindel before he wrecked the room.

"You know! It's a whatchamacallit for the thingamajig!" The seneschal looked around the room realizing that it was in another room. He headed for the sitting room once more. Looking around, he noticed that he was in the wrong room. He remembered being in his rooms not Erestor's and his. He now remembered moving into these rooms after he bonded with his husband. After leaving for the barracks yesterday after breakfast, he slipped into his rooms to hide it and now needed this special gift that he had gotten for his husband. It was their anniversary of their first kiss. They celebrated it every year so he couldn't tell Erestor what he had gotten him. He had found it on his travels when he went on missions for Elrond. "Now I remember where it is!" he exclaimed.

"What are you talking about, love? You're not making any sense." Erestor followed Glorfindel around like a lost puppy. "How am I suppose to help you find something when I can't understand a word you're saying."

"You know perfectly well what it is. It's a whatchamacallit that goes around a thingamabob. I had it yesterday and now I can't find it." Glorfindel made his way to his room to start searching. Upon entering, he thought for a moment. It didn't come to him so he started tearing this room apart as well.

Erestor proceeded to follow his husband into his old rooms. "What in Valar's name were you doing in here yesterday? I've never seen you come into these rooms since you moved in with me after our bonding." He still didn't understand what was going on in his husband's mind. This was unlike Glorfindel to become frantic over something when Erestor didn't even know what IT was.

"I seem to remember coming in here after breakfast yesterday and hiding the doohickey," Glorfindel replied. Then he replayed the events in his mind. 'I opened the door and stepped into the room. Then I walked over to the bookcase and put on it on this shelf.' He walked up to the shelf but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. 'Then I remember walking over to the bedroom and stowing it away in my wardrobe.' He frantically ripped the clothes out of the cabinet but didn't see anything. It was driving him nuts that he couldn't find it.

"Honey, sit for a minute." Erestor came up behind his husband and made him sit down on the edge of the bed. "I know when I try looking for something, I sit back for a minute, take a deep breath and let it out. I clear my mind of everything and then I close my eyes. Try it." Erestor was running circles on his lover's back trying to relax him. He could tell that the seneschal was getting upset.

Glorfindel followed Erestor's orders. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. His nerves were calming down and it cleared his head. Then he thought on what he did the previous day. Then he turned his head and looked straight into his husband's eyes. He smiled at him and lightly kissed him. "Thank you, love. I now know where I put it. Come with me." Glorfindel took his love's hand, leading him out of the room.

Erestor didn't know what to say when he noticed they were heading for Elrond's study. Knocking on the door, Glorfindel heard an answer on the other side and entered.

Elrond was a his desk when he heard the knock. "Enter." He looked up, seeing Erestor and Glorfindel enter. "You will find the dingle hopper on the mantel, Glorfindel. You left it there yesterday." Elrond knew what Glorfindel was looking for and told him to put it there yesterday because his seneschal had the habit of leaving trinkets around when it came to jewelry. He sat back in his chair and picked up his tea. It was a wonder that the two had bonded so many years ago. Elrond had hoped that his friends fell in love. They were made for each other.

"Thank you, Elrond." Glorfindel walked over to the pair of chairs in front of the mantel. "Sit Erestor, I need to talk to you." He looked at Elrond. "You can stay, if you want."

"I think I will since this is my study." Elrond sipped his tea and crossed his left leg over his right.

"Erestor, we have known each other for many years and the more that passes the more I fall in love with you." Glorfindel knelt on the floor in front to Erestor and took his right hand. "Do you know what day this is, my love?"

"No, I don't. What is going on here? Elrond?" Erestor turned his head and looked at the Lord of Imladris.

"Don't get me involved in this. This is between the two of you." Elrond held up his hands in defense. "I'm just here to watch." He took another sip of his tea and smiled at his Advisor.

"My love, this day is important to me. This is the day that we shared our first kiss so many years ago. We sat in Elrond's garden and I kissed you for the first time. It was a glorious kiss that made my stomach turn into knots and my toes curl. That was the day that I knew I was going to marry you." Glorfindel was rubbing his husband's fingers trying to calm him and then brought them up to his lips and lightly kissed them.

Erestor didn't know what to say. This was something that he had forgotten about. "I'm sorry, baby. I had forgotten about our first kiss. It made my heart beat so fast. That was when I knew I was in love with you. I have been so busy lately that time flew by and I forgot. I'm sorry, baby." He loved using this endearment. It made his love for the other elf grow larger everyday. "Now can you tell me what you have been looking for? What is a whatchamacallit? I have never heard of such a thing before."

Glorfindel rose from the floor and went to the mantel. He grabbed something off of it and placed it behind his back. "I couldn't tell you what it was because then I would have given away what it is actually called. Close your eyes and hold out your hands." Glorfindel watched as his love closed his eyes and held out his hands. The seneschal turned his head and looked at Elrond. The Lord had a smile on his face and when he seen the nod he knelt before Erestor and placed the object into his hands.

Erestor felt something in his hands and closed his fingers around it. It was smooth like the pedals on a rose and he felt a string of leather.

"Open your eyes, my love," Glorfindel whispered.

Erestor opened his eyes and gazed at the object in his hands. It was a black stone that was flattened with a hole through it that held a string of leather. It was the most beautiful thing that the Advisor ever seen. A tear ran down his face.

The seneschal watched the tear and knew that it was a tear of happiness. He took his thumb and rubbed it away. He loved Erestor with his whole heart and would do anything for him.

"I found it on my travels. A caravan was selling it, and it made me think of your eyes when we make love. The way your eyes turn black when you are in the throes of passion is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. When I saw this, it called to me. I love you and when you wear it it will remind me of our love everyday." Glorfindel kissed his lover and husband with a loving kiss.

"It's is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I will cherish it forever. I love you, too, my love." He watched as Glorfindel's lips claimed his in a loving kiss. They were in their own little world when they heard someone clear his throat.

"I hate to tell you but could you continue this in your rooms. I love watching you kiss but I don't think you need an audience for the rest. Besides, you both can have the day off and do whatever. There is no correspondences today and the boarders are quiet. Now go and have fun." Elrond waved his hand towards the door and smiled.

The two lover's broke their kiss and listened to their lord. After hearing what Elrond said, they looked at each other and smiled. Glorfindel rose up from the floor and held out his hand. Erestor took it and came up beside his love.

"Thank you, Elrond," Erestor replied. He bowed his head and the two lover's made their way to their rooms.

Erestor thought to himself, as they left Elrond's study, with a twinkle in his eyes, 'Let the games begin.'
