“Elrond are you done for the day,” Lindir asked.
“Yes I do believe I will call it a day,” Elrond answered. Getting up from his desk he blew out the candle and headed to the door. “I do believe I have worked to hard this day.” He said as the two headed out the door.
Erestor sit there for a minute before he relit the candle and went back to work.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Elrohir, is this the book you wanted?” Elladan asked his brother.
“Yes that is it,” Elrohir answered picking up the book from the table and heading out of the room.
Erestor sit there for a minute before getting up to get another book.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Does anyone have any ideals for the new trade agreement with King Thranduil?” Elrond asked of his counsel members.
“I have one,” Erestor said.
“If now one has any ideals then I think we should call it a day.” Elrond said as he got up from the table and headed out with the others.
Erestor sit there thinking, “Am I invisible?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Elrond, did you move those papers on the trade agreement?” Lindir asked his Lord.
“I did,” Erestor said.
“No. Are you sure you did not leave them there?” Elrond asked.
“I put them there.” Erestor said again.
“No. I put them in the drawer by that shelf,” Lindir told Elrond. “I have noticed a lot of things being moved lately.” He continued.
“Yes. I have noticed that too.” Elrond told Lindir.
“I HAVE BEEN MOVING THINGS!” Erestor yelled. “ELROND! WHAT AM I INVISIBLE OR SOMETHING!”
“Are you cold,” Lindir asked?
“No, I just had a chill run up my spine. I will be ok why do you not go for a walk and get some fresh air. I have everything for now.” Elrond told Lindir. “Thanks again for all your help.”
“If you are sure. We do have the new caption coming tomorrow.” Lindir answered.
“Yes I do believe everything is ready. Things like that just seem to take care of themselves.” Elrond answered.
Erestor throw his arms up and stormed out of the room slamming the door behind him. Elrond and Lindir looked at each other. “Must have been the wind.” Elrond said.
“Must have.” Lindir agreed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Erestor stood beside his Lord for the life of him not knowing why. No one seemed to ever notice him. As the new caption rode into the yard Erestor’s breath caught in this throat. Never had he seen a more beautiful elf, but there was more. This elf resembled his long lost love Glorfindel. He watched as the golden haired elf came to stand in front of his Lord. He watched as he kneeled on one knee and pledged to protect the Lord with his last breath. He watched as the golden haired elf that he knew so well stood and walked past him in to the house with is Lord again he thought, “I’m I invisible?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Glorfindel had been in Imladris for a month now. He had started his duties as the caption of her guards and protector of her Lord. To him she was a beautiful valley filled with caring, loving elves, but his heart longed for the love he had lost. He wondered were his beloved could be. He set out to find his Lord to see how he could find his love. Thinking that Elrond's office would be the best place to start he headed there. Upon entering he only saw Lindir there.
As Glorfindel stepped in to Elrond's office Erestor's heart shipped a beat. It had been a month since his love had returned and he had yet to show that he even realized that he was there. As it had been for the past few months with many, Glorfindel spoke with Lindir never acknowledging that he was in the room. He had been heart broken when Lindir started working with his Lord. To him it showed that Elrond had lost thrust in his ability to do his job. Not that he blamed his Lord since it was he that had caused the Prince of Mirkwood to be injured.
"Glorfindel, What can I do for you today?" Lindir asked.
"I was looking for Lord Elrond." Glorfindel replied.
"I am sorry, but he is visiting one of his Advisors that was injured a few months back. He visits him everyday at this time." Lindir said sadly.
"What Advisor was injured? How come I was not notified so I could reassign his workload to another?" Erestor asked.
"I am sorry to hear that one of your residents was injured. A few months ago, he injuries must have been great?" Glorfindel asked.
Erestor listened closely as it seemed that no one was going to answer him.
"Yes, his injuries were, but they healed some time ago. It seems that he has slipped in to a deep sleep that none have been able to wake him from. My Lord is very worried over him, as he was a close friend of his." Lindir replied. "I am sure he would welcome the company; if you wish to go. We all take turns sitting with the injured elf. We hope that our presence will help. He was most beloved by all." Lindir added.
"I think I will, where would I find them?" Glorfindel asked.
"I will take you to them, just give me a minute." Lindir answered.
As Glorfindel and Lindir left the room Erestor followed them as he as very curious as to who was injured in such as way. As they walked through the halls a fear started building in the pit of Erestor's stomach. As they turned down the hall that led to his chambers and as he watched the two enter his rooms. Erestor stood out side of his chamber's door as images flooded his mind. All the times it seemed no one noticed him in a room. All the times no one spoke to him. Slowly he turned the doorknob and walked in. Slowly making his way to the door to his bedchambers. Standing out side of the door he heard Glorfindel's scream as he seen who lay upon the bed. Slowly Erestor walked in to the room. His heart broke as he seen Glorfindel fall to his knees beside the bed. Gripping the hand of the elf lying there.
"My beloved, please wake. Please wake I have finally returned to you." Glorfindel pleaded with the elf on the bed.
Erestor could not look. No he must not. No He could not face this. Slowly he lifted his eyes to look upon the elf lying there. Erestor's head started to spin as he seen himself lying upon the bed. He collapsed to the ground as all went black.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The attack came out of nowhere; they had no time to seek shelter as the shower of arrows fell upon them. Erestor cried out in alarm as one imbedded itself into the arm of the young Prince of Mirkwood. The battle around him started to blur as the scene was replaced with one of long ago. He watched in horror as the Blond elf he loved so much battled the menacing Balrog. He almost cried his relief when the elf swung the victorious blow that ended the vile creatures life, but his relief was short lived as he watched his beloved fall in to the ravine, his hair caught by the loathsome beast's claw. Suddenly the image changed again and Erestor was again on the battlefield the young prince fighting with his entire mite. An anger he had never know swelled up inside of him as he charged the pack of orcs that surrounded the young one. Cutting blindly he took out the evil creatures one by one. Getting closer and closer to the young blond elf he cried out as a sharp pain cut across his back. Falling to his knees he watched as the young elf received a deadly blow falling before his eyes as all went black. His last thought was how he had failed his Lord.
Erestor was surrounded by darkness, looking around he could see nothing around him but darkness. Slowly a low buzzing noise started to descend around him. He tried desperately to make out what the noise was. He could not, but it was getting louder with each pass minute. Clutching his ears he fell to his knees as the noise grew loader and loader. Slowly he could hear voices in the noises. He tired to make out the voices but could not. A scream was ripped from his lips as the noise became more then he could stand. Suddenly all went quiet. Slowly he stood, as a voice rang out from the darkness.
"WHY DO YOU SEEK ENTRANCE INTO MY HALLS AGAIN, YOUNG ONE?" The voice demand.
Erestor terrified nervously answered, "I….I..I died?"
"WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU DIED, YOUNG ONE?" The voice asked.
"I….I.. do… not… know. Woould I be here if I had not?" Erestor stuttered.
Erestor took a step back as a dark figure stepped out of the shadows but yet seem to be the shadows. Laughing the dark figure asked. "My poor little one, there is so much you do not know. No, my little one you are not dead, twice now you have came seeking entrance into my halls and now I must again deny you. Why do you wish not to be of the living?"
"I have fail. I failed to save Prince Legolas, just as I failed to save my beloved. I can not live with the pain any longer." Answered Erestor.
Oh my little one, you did not fail Legolas. He is alive, but carries a great amount of remorse over you not waking. You see he felt it was his first duty to protect you. To him he failed. Should I allow you entrance into my halls he would follow soon after. Following him would be his Ada, and then you beloved twins as they have giving their hearts to him. The list could go on from there. You are so very important to so many. Would you deny them the pleasure of your company?" The dark being asked.
"I guess not." Erestor answered in a small voice.
`And you did not fail Glorfindel. He died to protect you. You are the only thing in his life that he holds any importance to. He now sits at your bedside waiting for you to a wake," the being supplied.
Erestor's eyes jerked up to the dark being, "He is alive. How is that possible? I saw him die."
The dark being laughed as he waved his arm, "We allowed him to be reborn. He has an important task to perform, as do you. It is time for you to return my little one. I do not wish to see you again in my halls." Erestor's breathe hitched as the being stepped before him and place a kiss to his brow. He closed his eyes as the darkness started to engulf him once more.
~~~~~~~~~
Glorfindel had sat beside Erestor's bed for a week now, praying to the Valar that he would a wake. He could not understand how they could be so cruel as to return him only to take his beloved. It was killing him to have his love this close, but for him to be so far. In the week he had been at Erestor's side he had came to see how much his beloved was loved by all that resided in Imladris. Lord Elrond came three times a day to feed him broth; Glorfindel listened as he told him stories of his beloved. During the first day, he had told him how sometimes in seemed that Erestor was still with them. How sometimes if he looked up real quick he could see Erestor still working beside him. Glorfindel heard similar stories from many who came to visit the sleeping elf. The twin's who came every day to read to him told of how the books that Erestor favored would always be missing, and how they would have to look for them. Many were shocked to learn that the Advisor was from the fallen city, so Glorfindel entertained them with stories of his and Erestor's life together. Elrond seem to get a kick from the time that Erestor and his brother Ecthelion and himself during a night of drunkenness had been dared to run naked through the streets. What shocked most was to find out that
Erestor was Lord Erestor, Lord of the house of the fountain. With his older brother gone the title now fell to Erestor. Glorfindel did not want to add to the shock by added that up until his return Erestor had also been Lord of the House of the Golden Flower too.
As Glorfindel sat there holding Erestor hand he felt a small movement. Staring unbelieving at the hand he felt it move again. He ran to the door calling for a servant to get Lord Elrond before returning to his beloved's side. A joy he had never known swelled up inside of him as he looked up to see Erestor's eyes slowly open to reveal the beautiful dark eyes that he knew so well. "Hello beautiful," He said when Erestor's eyes focused on him. Bending down he placed a loving kiss to his beautiful love’s lips. Erestor slid his arms to encircle his neck as he drew him closer.
A great joy spread throughout the land at the news that her beloved Advisor had awakened. The joy was greater when a few months later her Advisor and the Caption of her guards renewed their vows. Never had they seen a more beautiful and lasting love that not even death could destroy. Erestor's happiness was only matched when he was reunited with his beloved brother upon they arriver in the undying lands.
