The start of something new
Lindir sat in a large waiting room with around eight other elves, some he knew from his schooling but others he did not. One elf in particular struck his fancy; in the corner of the room sit a beautiful dark haired elf. He had seen him around the palace a few times, but had never been introduced to him. Getting up he walked over and sit down beside the elf. As he sit down he noticed that the elf was busy writing something on a piece of parchment. Being of a curious nature he asked, “What are you working on?”
The dark haired beauty looked up and smiled; Lindir’s stomach did a flip-flop at the sight of that smile. It that moment he lost his heart, but before the beauty could answer him someone commented sacristy, “he is more then likely writing out a list of his accomplishments.”
Lindir’s heart fell as he watched the dark haired beauty pale and look down, mumbling, “It does save time.”
“It sounds very efficient to me,” Lindir commented to the room. Turning back to the elf next to him he held out his hand as he continued, “My name is Lindir, it is very nice to meet you.”
The dark haired elf took Lindir’s hand saying, “It is nice to meet you, I have had the pleasure of hearing you sing, you have one of the most beautiful and gifted voices I have heard.”
Before he could say more an elf came in to the room and called, “Erestor?”
Standing up Erestor moved to join the elf that had turned and was headed back out the door. Lindir quickly said, “I was a pleasure to meet you Erestor. I hope we will see each other in Imladris.”
Erestor slyly looked down before answering; “I would like that very much. Until then, and good luck.”
And then he was gone leaving Lindir to wait for his turn to go before the Elf Lord, Lord Elrond. He was headed to a place of his own, to make a new realm, one that would survive the test of time. He was surrounding himself with the brightest and most talented of the younger generation. The ones that wanted to prove that they were as good as their teachers.
It was many weeks later before Lindir seen Erestor again. He had been at the tailors buying a new cloak for the trip when he heard someone behind him say, “I hear you got Chief Minstrel?”
Turning around he smiled as he seen Erestor, “And I hear you are head librarian and an adviser. With the chance to become head adviser.” Receiving a blush from the dark haired beauty he looped his arm through his and started pulling his new friend out to the shop saying, “I think this calls for a celebration.”
