A/N: This story was loosely inspired by the song “Lips of an Angel” by Hinder. Some of the lines in this story are actually lyrics from the song and are denoted with (*).

Erestor looked up as Rivendell’s captain entered the library. He felt more than a little uncomfortable, and turned his face away as Glorfindel came up and slotted several papers in a holder next to him. Glorfindel cleared his throat nervously, and Erestor glanced at him from under the veil of his hair.

“Hey,” Glorfindel whispered softly.

“Hey,” Erestor echoed.

“I thought maybe we could-”

“No,” Erestor cut him off.

Glorfindel cleared his throat and fiddled with the leather binder he had drawn the paperwork out of. “I miss you.”

“Dammit, Glorfindel!” Erestor said harshly as he banged his hand on the desk in front of him. “I don’t want to talk about this.”

They were silent for a moment, neither moving.

“My place, nine o’clock,” Glorfindel said quickly as he spun and exited the room.

Erestor groaned and put his head on his desk. He didn’t need this. He didn’t need this at all.

“’Res?” asked Baudheth, Erestor’s second in command and closest friend. “Is something wrong?” She had come upon him after entering through the same door Glorfindel had just exited.

“No, Baudy. I’m fine. Just tired.”

“Maybe you should come with me to my friend’s apartment tonight. We’re going to eat fattening food and gossip,” she said with a smile as she stacked several ledgers on the only clean edge of Erestor’s desk.

“I’ll have to pass tonight. I’m…” he paused, looking for a lie. “I’m going to go over several reports with Glorfindel tonight.”

Baudheth frowned and ruffled Erestor’s hair. “Just don’t stay up too late. I worry about you, you know.”

“I know, Baudy, I know.”

*********************

Erestor stood outside Glorfindel’s door, his head resting on the wood and his hand on the handle. Giving into temptation after several minutes of contemplation, he opened the door and stepped inside. Glorfindel sat on an overstuffed chair, facing the door. It looked like he had been in the same position for some time.

Before he could register what was happening, Erestor found himself on his back in the bedroom. He was naked, moaning, wanton. Glorfindel lay above him, doing everything to make the elf underneath him scream. He heard Glorfindel’s murmured words, “*I really love to hear your voice, saying my name. It sounds so sweet coming from the lips of an angel. You’re my angel…”

Erestor pushed at Glorfindel’s chest, sudden lucidity taking over the haze of lust that had come over him.

Glorfindel stopped what he was doing and looked into Erestor’s face.

“We shouldn’t be doing this,” Erestor said quietly.

Glorfindel sighed and dropped his head in exasperation against Erestor’s shoulder. “Angel, if you really didn’t want this you wouldn’t have come over tonight.”

Erestor looked to the side and bit his lip. Glorfindel raised his head and looked at his lover’s turned face. “Tell me now. Tell me to stop and I’ll leave it here. Just don’t come back here. I don’t think I could take it. I still love you, so much…*I guess I never really moved on.”

Erestor turned his head back to regard the captain. The look on his face was pensive and worried. “I guess I never did either.”

Glorfindel closed his eyes and leaned down to kiss Erestor. “I love you, my angel.”

Erestor closed his eyes and let the tears he had held back escape. “We have to stop. We can’t keep doing this.”

“Tell me that when your naked, wanting body isn’t writhing underneath mine,” Glorfindel said as he sucked on Erestor’s neck. He looked up again, and captured Erestor’s eyes with his own. “Tell me that, and mean it.” Erestor shifted his eyes away, not speaking.

“That’s what I thought,” Glorfindel said as he went back to pleasuring the body beneath him.

****************

The bedroom had been cleaned, the sheets changed. They were both cleansed, and scented candles masked the smell of sex that had permeated the air. Erestor and Glorfindel sat at a small table in the living room, sorting through various papers and making remarks on each one. The door opened and Baudheth entered, placing her keys on the table near the door.

“Hey, sweetie,” she said as she approached the two elves at the table. She leaned over and kissed Glorfindel on the cheek. “Don’t stay up too late, hervenn nín. Erestor needs his sleep, and I’m sure his husband is waiting for him at home.” She waved hello to her best friend and exited the room.

Erestor smiled at Baudheth, but as soon as she left his expression turned into something a lot like pain. He looked at Glorfindel and said quietly, “This has to stop.”

*****************

It was late, and Erestor tried to push open the door as quietly as possible, hoping to not disturb the occupant inside. It turned out he need not have bothered. Elrond sat quietly at his desk, obviously going over a stack of paperwork piled on top of it. He looked up and smiled, only to frown a second later with worry. The lord stood abruptly and rounded his desk. “What’s wrong, hervenn nín?”

Erestor wiped the tears from his face, only to sob a moment later into Elrond’s shoulder. His voice was full of sorrow and guilt as he said, “I have something to tell you…”
