1. The Break-Up
It was over. Billy had left Elijah. It wasn’t, because he didn’t love him anymore. No. He did love him. He loved him as the first second, he’d seen him. But he couldn’t stay with him. Elijah liked him, alright. But it wasn’t love. For Elijah, it was just sex. But Billy wanted, needed more. He wanted that Elijah returned his feelings. He wanted to be loved as well. So this morning, he’d decided not to continue like that. Elijah had to find somebody else to satisfy him. It was hard for Billy to just walk out of that door and to know, he wouldn’t be lying in Elijah’s arms again. But he just couldn’t bear being used for sex. Elijah hadn’t been sad. Well, maybe a bit.
When Billy arrived at home, he let himself fall on the bed. Fuck. He missed Elijah now already. He thought about him, about his pale, sweet skin, his pink sweet lips, his sweet teeth-gapped smile… He was so perfect. And Billy loved him. Really loved him. Was it the right decision? Was it right to leave him? Shouldn’t he just have stayed and waited until Elijah realized, he felt more for Billy than just sexual desire? But he wasn’t sure, that would ever have happened. Probably it would never have happened. Billy just had that illusion, but it was hopeless. Elijah didn’t love him and it was going to stay that way forever. He just had to accept it.
The phone rang and Billy took the receiver. “Hello?”
“Hey Bills.” It was Dom. “How are you?”
“Hm…” Billy couldn’t say anything else.
“You’re alright?” Dom asked.
Billy rummaged in his pocket to find the pack of cigarettes. He really needed to smoke now. “No, not really.” he said and lighted his cigarette.
“’s anything wrong with Elijah?” Dom asked.
Billy inhaled the smoke of the cigarette and nodded. “Mhm.”
“What’s up?” was Dom’s next question.
Pause. Should he tell Dom? He always had told Dom everything. So why not inform him, it was over?
“It’s over.” Billy said.
“Oh.”
“Yes.”
“Why?” Dom asked after a few seconds of silence.
Billy took a deep breath and told Dominic everything. After he had finished, he felt better, released, free. But still sad and empty.
“I’m sorry for you.” Dom said. But it didn’t sound like he was sorry, Billy thought. It sounded rather relieved. But then he thought, that he must have imagined that, cause he couldn’t find a reason, why Dom could possibly be relieved about him and Elijah having split up.
“Thanks.” he said.
“Wanna do something with me this afternoon? We could go to the cinema or something.” Dom asked.
Billy really didn’t feel like going out. But he also knew how pigheaded Dominic could be and so he just sighed a short: “Yes…”
“Alright. See you then at four? Have you seen Van Helsing yet?”
“Four’s fine.” Billy said. “Van Helsing, too.”
“Okay… Bye. And don’t be too sad about Lij. You’re going to come over him, even if it seems very hard right now.”
“’kay”, Billy sighed again. “See you.”
He hung up and stubbed out his cigarette.

Finally. After Dom had hung up, he couldn’t help but dance around in his flat. How long had he been waiting for this to happen? He had spent so many lonely days and weeks hoping that Billy would finally realize what he felt for him, but that never occurred to him. Alright, Billy didn’t return his love yet, but at least Elijah was out of the way. It had hurt Dominic so much to see his beloved Billy being hurt. Elijah had always been nice to Billy and he liked him also a lot, but it wasn’t love. And Dom couldn’t stand the sad look in Billy’s eyes when he saw Elijah flirting with some other guy. Billy had always known that Elijah didn’t love him, but he had always hoped that it would somehow work out. Dom had always known the truth. He always knew that Elijah would never return Billy’s feelings. And now it was over. Finally, Billy had been strong enough to break up with him. He was free now and Dom could finally give Billy the love he deserved without having to worry about Elijah being mad at him.
He grabbed the phone and dialled Elijah’s number.
“Wood?”, Elijah’s voice said into the phone.
“Hey Lij, how are you?”
“Great, what about you?”
“I’m fine. I heard about you and Bill.”
“Oh yeah, well he dumped me. I guess it was the best thing to happen. I think he was starting to suspect something.”
Dom frowned. “Suspecting something? That you don’t love him, Lij? Billy has known about that for a long time.”
“No, I don’t mean that. I was talking about… well… Liam.”
“Who?” Who the fuck was Liam?
“The guy I met in the bar the other day. Remember? It was about two weeks ago. I’ve been sleeping with him. Don’t tell me, you didn’t know.”
“I didn’t. Lijah, how can you do such a thing? Don’t you have any respect for Billy?!”, Dom yelled into the phone and hung up.
Idiot. Seriously. Why did he even stay with Billy for such a long time, why not just break up with him and fuck his way through the world. Dom was furious. He grabbed his coat and left his apartment. Stupid cunt!
~~~***~~~
About quarter to four, Billy was standing outside the cinema, waiting for Dom. It was pretty cold and he began to freeze a bit. He felt lonely and empty, didn’t know what to do now. The only sense his life had had, was Lijah. And now he was gone.
“Hey, there you are. How are you?”
Dom had just arrived and pulled him in a hug. He pulled him against him. It felt good to be held.
“Yeah… I guess I’m okay.”, said Billy after Dom let go of him.
Dom smiled: “Alright. Well, I’m gonna get the tickets and the popcorn and everything, you don’t have to worry ‘bout anything.”
After they had purchased everything, they entered the room and sat down in the middle of the room. There were only a few kids in one of the first rows, but apart from them, the room was almost empty.
“You think the movie’s good?”, Dom asked him.
“Dunno…”
Dom looked at him. Billy always tried to be strong, but he could feel how sad he was. He didn’t really know what to do with his friend. He put his arm around him and placed a gentle kiss on his temple.
“It’s going to be alright, Billy. You’re going to be fine. You’re better off without him, believe me.”
“If you say so…” Billy wasn’t really convinced. At the moment, his life seemed really senseless. No Elijah in his life.
“I know it.”, said Dominic. Then the room darkened and the trailers began. Unfortunately, they had to show the trailer of Elijah’s new film. Dom felt Billy twitch as he saw his little angel. Billy stared at the screen where Lij was shown in a close-up.
“I… I can’t.”, Billy got up and ran out of the room.
Dom looked after him for a few seconds, before reacting. “Hey!”
He jumped up as well, grabbing both of their coats. Then he ran after Billy, spreading the popcorn over the floor of the cinema.
He pushed open the door. “Billy!”
He ran out of the building looking right and left. And there he was… leaning against the wall of the cinema.
“Billy…”, Dom whispered. He went towards him and tried to catch his eyes. “Hey… I’m sorry…”
Billy looked up and Dom’s heart almost stopped, when he saw the tears in his friend’s eyes. He pulled up his nose and murmured: “It’s not your fault…”
“Yes, it is… I should’ve gotten you out of that relationship much earlier.”, Dom answered, pulling him in his arms. At that moment, Billy couldn’t hold back his tears and started crying. Dom held him closely and whispered comforting words in his ears. Billy was sobbing like a little child and he felt so helpless. Dom’s arms were a big help, though, because eventually he calmed down. Dom took a look at him and wiped the tears from his cheeks.
“You’re shivering…”, Dom realized and helped Billy into his coat. Then he put on his own.
“Let’s go home. To me or to you?”, Dom proposed. Billy needed company now. It wasn’t good for him to be alone right now.
Billy shrugged and mumbled: “It’s up to you.”
So Dom took Billy’s hand and headed for his friend’s place. When they arrived there, Dom took care of everything. He told Billy to lay down on the couch, while he was making some tea. And after that, they would watch some movies, where there was certainly no Elijah involved.
After the tea was ready, Dom took two cups and came back into the living room. He sat down next to Billy and gave him one of the cups.
“Here you go. After that you’ll feel better. Is there one movie in particular, you’d like to watch?”, Dom asked, running his hand through his own hair and looking at Billy questioningly.
Billy took a look at his own DVD-collection, but couldn’t make a decision.
“What about Phone Booth? I feel like a little Colin Farrell.” Dom proposed.
“Yeah, why not.” Billy agreed, but Dom could see that he didn’t really care what they watched.
He put the DVD in and took place next to Billy. Billy cuddled a bit closer to his friend and put his head on his shoulder. Dom looked down at him and placed a kiss on his head. Then they watched the film. While they did, Dom couldn’t help but let out a sighing: “Bloody pretty Irish bastard!”
Billy looked up at him, grinning: “Why not go for it, Dommie?”
Dom looked down at him: “Yeah right, like I would stand a chance.”
“Why not?”
“Because he is bloody Colin Farrell and I’m just… Dom? And anyway, I don’t need him, as I’m in love with someone else.” Dom said. Piss it! Why did he say that?
“You are?” Billy looked at him surprisingly. “Who is him?”
“I… no one.”
Billy sat up and looked at him: “Oh come on, Dommie. If you don’t tell me, I’m… I’m gonna tickle you until you do.”
“I’m not in love, I just said that, because… um…”
Billy jumped up and started tickling Dom. Dom tried to push him away, but didn’t succeed. “Hey! No!” Dom laughed.
Billy grinned and continued. “Billy please! *LOL* Stop it. There is nobody.” Dom’s face became already pink.
“I won’t stop unless you tell me the name of your beloved one.” Billy threatened and continued tickling his best friend. Dom tried stay strong but under those circumstances, that wasn’t really possible. At last, he couldn’t take it anymore and cried out: “It’s you!”
Billy stopped immediately. “Hugh?”
Dom looked at him and tried to catch his breath. His face got his normal colour back. “What?”
“You said Hugh. Who’s Hugh? Do I know him?” Billy smiled.
Dom said up and realized that he had saved the situation. “Um… no, he’s… he’s just a guy, I mean… I don’t love him, he’s just… that guy…”
Billy still smiled. “It’s great that you’re in love. Doesn’t happen that often. When was the last time you got shagged?”
Dom opened his eyes. “Billy!”
Billy grinned: “What? Come on, tell me. I won’t tell anybody.”
“No, I won’t.”
“Do you want me to restart tickling you?” Billy asked with a threatening look.
“What? No! No! Alright, it’s quite a while, I don’t even really know anymore.”
“Well, than grab Hugh and be happy.” Billy said and got off of his friend. “I guess Colin has to wait then.”
Dom looked at Billy. ‘Absolutely superb, Dominic. Now he thinks you’ve got a boyfriend called Hugh, who doesn’t even exist and he knows you haven’t been shagged for a fucking century. The only thing, he doesn’t know is the truth. Brilliant. Fantastic. Oh my god, I’m such a twat.’, Dom thought and looked at the television.
After the movie, they watched another one and after that one, Billy decided that it was time for Dominic to go home.
“Are you sure, you’ll be alright here on your own?” Dom asked critically.
“Yes, I am, believe me. I’m older than you, I’m capable of taking care of myself, really.” Billy answered.
Dom understood that he wanted to be alone, but he didn’t want to actually leave. He wanted to hold him when he was getting sad again and comfort him until he was able to sleep. But then he realized that this was only possible if he told him about his feelings. But he couldn’t do that yet, not now that Billy just got out of his relationship with Elijah. He had to wait until he was over his ex. And that could take quite a time.
“Alright… You know that you can call me anytime you need me, right?”
“Yes, Dom. Bye. I’ll call you when I feel like seeing someone. Goodnight.” Billy put a kiss on Dom’s forehead and closed the door behind him. He leaned against the front door of his flat and looked at his space.
