Summary: A reunion. This is a birthday present for the Magic Rat.
Legolas leaned against the mast of the great ship bearing him to
Valinor. Gimli, his best friend for many years, stood near the
railing gazing at the approaching shore. The dwarf had done nothing
else for the entire voyage.
"You are more anxious to arrive at the white shores than I, my
friend," Legolas mused as he moved to stand next to the dwarf.
"If your husband awaited you on those shores you would be as anxious
as I, elf," was the gruff reply.
Legolas chuckled and patted Gimli's back consolingly. "He will be
waiting for you."
"I never doubted that."
"Then why do you fret so?"
Gimli looked up into sky-blue eyes. "I know he is waiting for me.
Erestor would wait for me for eternity." The dwarf looked
saddened. "Even though he thinks that I will never come."
Legolas' eyebrows shot skyward. "Why would he think such?"
"Because I told him as much. Before he left, he begged me to join
him in Valinor. He informed me that I would be welcomed here," Gimli
bowed his auburn-haired head. "I told him that I could never leave
Middle-Earth. That it was my home, and would be until the end of my
days." He shook his head regretfully. "I think I broke his heart,
but I was too stubborn and self-righteous to change my mind. The day
he left, he told me that he would wait. He would greet each ship at
the docks. He would wait until the day he felt my soul leave this
earth, and then he would follow me into death…" he trailed off and
looked towards the rapidly approaching shore-line. "I did not want
to leave my home, now that I was Lord of it. I was selfish. I can
only hope he will forgive me."
Legolas said nothing. There was nothing really to say. He
didn't know Erestor well enough to say whether or not Gimli would be
forgiven. Therefore, he simply stood next to his long-time friend
and awaited the docking of the ship.
******************************
Gimli scanned the dock and its crowd, looking for a flash of a
familiar face or figure. The inhabitants of the boat departed, the
crowd dispersed. Legolas stood with Gimli a moment longer before
pushing him in the direction of a lonely, black-clad figure sitting
on the end of the pier that ran beside the docks along with a golden-
haired form Gimli recognized as Erestor's best friend
Glorfindel. "I'll be with my family if you need me, my friend," he
said in parting as he followed his mother and father to their home.
The dwarf watched the elf sitting on the end of the pier as he
approached. The black-clad legs swung back and forth were they
dangled over the edge, and Erestor's dark head was bowed sadly as he
regarded the ring on his finger. Gimli knew that ring well. He had
forged it himself to give to his husband for their bonding ceremony.
Erestor pulled his legs up until they were flush with his chest and
his head was buried in the fabric stretched across his knees. The
sounds of sobbing shook Gimli from his stupor, and he kneeled down
next to the slightly shaking figure. Glorfindel looked startled for
a moment when he realized who exactly was kneeling next to his
friend, and he nodded to the dwarf in greeting. Silently, the Balrog-
Slayer heaved himself to his feet and strolled down the dock to give
the two some privacy.
The dwarf gently reached out and brushed back a lock of dark hair. A
hand swatted at him and a teary voice said, "Leave me alone,
Glorfindel." The soft crying continued as Gimli rocked back on his
heels. This is what he had reduced his proud, fearless lover into: a
heart-broken wreck.
Once again, Gimli reached out and swept back a lock of hair with a
slightly different result. He was once again swatted at, but the
pale face that haunted his dreams this time lifted to deliver a
glare and a scathing retort.
"I thought I told you-" came the angry censure that cut off abruptly
as Erestor realized who kneeled beside him. A few squeaking breaths
came from the dark elf as he tried to come to terms with what his
eyes beheld.
"You…you came. You said you wouldn't come." More tears fell. "I
waited and waited. I was so afraid I would never see you again…"
All at once they were in each other's arms. Neither remembered who
made the first move, neither would they remember how they came to be
nestled together underneath the pier on the soft, white sand.
Erestor suddenly found himself naked upon a bed of his and his
husband's clothing. The crash of the sea melted all sounds into a
background hum as he in turn melted into the strong body above him.
All that time, all that time spent waiting seemed nothing more than
a moment now that his beloved was in his arms. The strong, virile
body pressed him down into the sand. Hungry hands made short work
of his clothes, leaving him breathless in the intensity of the lust
Gimli forced upon him. Gimli may have been shorter than him by
quite a bit, but the dwarf was nearly two times his breadth and
weight, making him feel fragile in comparison.
Foreplay seemed out of the question as they both went for the one
goal that mattered. Erestor tensed as he was penetrated with no
more lubrication than Gimli's saliva, and he wailed his happiness to
the planks of the pier above his head. Their pace was slow,
steady. A perfect match for the rush and pull of the ocean that
drummed not far from where they lay.
"I love you….you're here…you're here…love you…" Erestor whispered as
his personal mantra between gasps and silent howls of ecstasy.
Gimli brushed black, sand covered hair away from the exotic, sloe-
eyed face beneath him as he murmured his own mantra: "I'm so sorry…I
love you…I'll never leave you…never…I love you…"
Erestor came first with a cry of epic proportions, his body
clenching and tensing as Gimli thrust harder than before. Two more
thrusts and Gimli too gave his call of completion, falling
breathlessly upon his husband. Erestor felt the flood of warm seed
inside of him, and he felt fulfilled for the first time in so very,
very long.
They lay together on the soft white sand and watched as the sun set
and the stars began to shine with a radiance they had never seen
before.
"We should get going home…" murmured Erestor as he shifted in
Gimli's arms.
"Why?" was the whispered question.
"…I have sand in my crack."
