Leaving through the back door
Freezing in the cold
Communication breakdown
Emotional overload

Erestor raced out into the cold air of the autumn night, not really caring where he ended up. So long as he got away. This was too much. Too much. Glorfindel didn’t love him. He may never have loved him. They had never taken the vows to bind their souls at Glorfindel’s insistence. He had said it was so Erestor would not suffer if the warrior died in battle. That Erestor would be able to live on. Now Erestor knew that it was so his husband could fuck around and he wouldn’t know.

Been through a wall of fire
Now I feel like, the ashes glow
Ashes glow

His soul burned with the betrayal. His heart burned with anguish. His body burned with hate. It was too much.

Cars passing on the freeway
My mind is on the run
I keep running from my shadow
I´m not the only one

He ran. He ran until the edge of the cliff stopped him. Erestor looked down at the black chasm yawning before him. The shadow of the abyss seemed to echo the shadows that now drew over his heart.

Somewhere in the distance
Someone´s taking flight
Destination unknown
Just fade into the light

Where would he go if he took just one more step? If he flew into the black unknown? No…no…there was light still. Weak, yes. But light still whispered through his soul.

There´s so much said and done
But after all
The time has come, to leave it all
Behind

He took a step back. Another. This was insane. He took a deep breath. Another. He gazed again at the blackness before him, the blackness that Glorfindel had cast upon him. It was time to leave it behind. He walked away.

If you could see it through my eyes
You´d know I tried to change it all
I´ve been trying all my life
To stand up every time I fall
If you could see it through my eyes

Why? He had tried so hard to be a good husband. He had done everything Glorfindel had asked of him. Everything. He loved his husband with everything he had. Erestor had thought that this time, maybe this time, he wouldn’t have to pick himself up from a fall. Maybe this time there would not be a fall. He had been wrong.

I feel sadness up my spine
The future on my hands
I´m standing here alone
With open arms again

He found himself sitting on a bench in the gardens without remembering how he got there. The moon shown brightly overhead. A light in the darkness. The crisp air made his breath come in white puffs. He wrapped his arms around himself. Empty. Valar, he felt so empty. There were no arms to hold him. No one to wrap his own arms around. Alone.

Tomorrow ain´t no stranger
There´ll be a lucky star
And love will find it´s way
Into someones heart

“Erestor?”

The councilor turned his head, startled. The moon glowed off the pale skin of two bodies, dark hair had a life of its own as the bitter wind danced through it. Erestor turned his head away.

Too late for tears
No time to be confused
It´s just the echo of our
Swan song

The bodies sat on either side of him. A hand tilted his face upwards. Another brushed the nearly frozen tears from his cheeks. “No more tears, sweet one.” He was embraced from the front and from behind. Held close in strong arms.

If you could see it through my eyes
You´d know I tried to change it all
I´ve been trying all my life
To stand up every time I fall
If you could see it through my eyes
You´d see that love will always wait
Somewhere out there is my life
A new love that comes my way
If you could see it through my eyes
Through my eyes

Twin sets of hands, twin mouths traveled his body. He was on a bed. How had he gotten there?

Did it matter?

His body arched. Valar…it had never been this way before. Never had he felt such…he screamed. Three souls intertwined. Always destined for one another. Not needing the trappings of ceremony and ritual to bind themselves together. Together forever.

What was meant to be forever
Is breaking all apart
What was meant to be forever
Leaves the hole inside my heart
What was meant to be forever
We throw it all away
What was meant to be forever
Was nothing but a game
What was meant to be forever
Is breaking all apart
What was meant to be forever

Erestor lay in bed, entwined with two other bodies. He had truly thought that he and Glorfindel were meant to be together forever. But it broke apart, crumbled because of Glorfindel’s foolish games. Maybe they had been destined for each other at one time…however that was a moot point at the moment. Laying with the beautiful twin bodies, Erestor finally believed he wouldn’t fall again.
