Defeated, But Not Destroyed

Hello kids, this is my first story, please be kind. A few warnings before we begin: I do NOT own any celebrities used in this story, it's all from my imagination, and the potrayals of these people are not accurate. Also, this story includes several themes that may not be suitable if you aren't comfortable with them, including rape and abuse. Without further ado, Defeated but Not Destroyed:

The first time Orlando hit me? I felt it.
I can remember every little detail, everything that was said, the way he'd drawn his arm back, even the cracking sound it made when his palm connected with my cheek.
Our arguement had been fierce that night, I can rememeber it so clearly, that sometimes I wonder if it had even ever happened. That maybe I'd just made it up, like a sick mind game I was playing on myself. But then it happened again.
And then I knew it was real.

When I'd first met Orli, I was young, naive. I believed everyone was basically good, and that there weren't actually bad people in the world, just misguided ones. Besides, he was a movie star, the worst that could happen is our breakup would be in the tabloids. It was this disillusionment ultimately led to my self-induced downfall.
And so when I met Orlando Bloom, I fell instantly in love. He was everything a girl could want in a man. Charming, polite, incredibly good-looking, rich, attentive. Perfect.
I loved him.
We moved in together right away. It was heaven, or at least how I thought heaven would be. But gradually, just gradually, I began to notice little changes in him. It would start out with something small, an "I don't like what you're wearing... Change for me?" Or, "You shouldn't hang out with blokes all the time, you've got me, love."
Eventually, he was picking out my clothing for me and taking away my cell phone so I couldn't talk to my friends.
And of course, there was our first fight.

Flashback

"There is nothing going on! What the hell is wrong with you? Elijah is your BEST FRIEND!"
"Don't bloody lie to me, Rian Analise! Elijah wouldn't come by for just "nothing." He grabbed my wrists and shoved me against the wall, roughly. "Don't even lie to me!"
"He just wanted to return your fucking wallet!" I tried in vain to get myself out of his grasp. "You're hurting me! LET GO!"
"I'm hurting you? I'M hurting you? What about how you hurt me? Huh?.. You know, I never realized it, but you're just a little bint. A bloody tease!" He released my wrists and struck me hard across the face, causing me to lurch back and hit my head against the wall.
I remember dazedly wondering how I would cover up the bruise I was sure it had left. It never even occurred to me, that my boyfriend had just slapped me.
That should have been the first sign.

End Flashback

"How was your day?" Orlando entered the room, placing a light kiss on my forhead.
"Um...fine." I bit down on my lower lip nervously.
"What'd you do?" He went to the refridgerator and grabbed a water bottle out.
"Nothing," I shrugged. "Went shopping, talked to my mom-"
"WHAT?" I jumped. Oh no...
"She called me, Orlando!" I pleaded despretaly. "I didn't talk for long, I-I swea-" He slammed the door and threw his water bottle against the wall in rage.
"I told you NOT to talk to her!" He stalked to me, and instinctively I rose from my chair. "She always prys into our life, asks question, things she doesn't need to know Rian... What did you say to her?" He reached out and grabbed my arm in a tight grasp, squeezing tightly enough to leave a bruise I knew would surface later.
"No-nothing!" I yelped, twisting despretaly. "I swear Orli! Please, I didn't say anything..."
He fingered the bluish-red bruise that still adorned my right cheekbone. I sure as hell didn't want another one of those. "Please, I swear," My voice was choked with unshed tears.
He patted my cheek once...twice...CRACK
I cried out as my head lurched sideways.
"Don't let it happen again. Go to bed." He nodded towards the stairs and I scurried up, not wanting to risk his wrath further, as I heard the soccer game come on in the background.
