Disclaimer: I don’t own Legolas and Aragorn I believe the rights of them right now are held my new line or the Tolkien estate. So please don’t sue I’m just messing with them.
Summary: This is basically Aragorn’s POV from Acuamaine’s story I’ll be here for you, which is about Legolas saving Aragorn from Sauron’s power. Then becoming pregnant with his friend’s child. However Aragorn doesn’t know/remember what happened the night he went to face Sauron. So this story is basically about Aragorn’s feeling for Legolas and everything around him that’s happening.
AN: Some of information for this chapter I think you need to know. This chapter takes place right after the meeting about what Pippin saw in the palantir. So just to bring y’all up to speed Helms Deep has already happened and Gandalf and Pippin have already rode the White City and the people of Rohan and the remaining fellowship are on their way to the White City in a few days.
I just thought I’d go ahead and warn everyone now that the first chapter of this story is going to be strange. I felt the need to start just a little bit before I’ll be here for you did. However since he doesn’t remember anything that Legolas did it might be weird. Well anyway let me know what you think.
Also I have to ask that everyone that reads this story be patient with us. Both Acuamaine and I are going to be sharing this story so until we get the hang of sharing it might be extremely weird to read. Although we hope that not the case.
As the celebration that honored those who lost their lives during helms deep died down I walked through the Golden Halls in search of the room that the King of Rohan had grated the fellowship to sleep in.
Already in the room lying in the corner sleeping off all the alcohol he had drank was Gimil our noble Dwarf. While in the middle of the room laid Merry and Pippin talking silently to each other arguing about who would be the most talked about when they got back to the shire.
While Gandalf was lying on a couch on the right of me, and the room was filling with an assortment of Elves and Men. The only person or rather elf I didn’t see was Legolas, but knowing him he was probably outside since he was ill at ease when surrounded by stone walls.
Walking to the corner of the room where some servants had put extra blankets and sleeping mats. I grabbed a blanket leaving the mat alone and available to someone else. Besides I didn’t need it I was a ranger and had sleep on the ground outside with out even a blanket for cover. I set up my temporary resting spot, and told the still whispering Hobbits to rest well, and fell asleep.
Hours later I woke for a reason that eluded me, and after looking around and finding everyone where they were before except this time the Hobbits were sleeping and Legolas was still gone so I decided to go and join him outside.
Quietly standing up and walking through the Halls towards the exit that would lead outside. I was presented with the sight of Legolas standing on the edge of the grounds wearing the cloak that was given to everyone in Lothlorien staring out into the open land watching for anything that could threatened everyone.
Walking up beside Legolas standing next to him, he turns to look at me giving me a small smile then again turning to look out onto the land. “The stars are veiled” Legolas pauses for moments concern and worry written all over his face. “Something stirs in the East... A sleepless malice…The great eye of the enemy is moving” We stood out there for several minutes watching the land.
I was content to standing slightly next to Legolas since this is something we always done together. Just standing outside on a balcony or on an open field and looking at the stars. He would always tell me stories of those stars or sing about them and their beauty.
Then for some reason when he gazes out to the sky he would always seem both sad and happy, and for awhile I thought about asking him why he was sad, but I never really had a chance since I don’t like breaking the peaceful silence that surrounds us always.
Suddenly Legolas turns towards alarmed, and looks me straight in the eyes; “He’s here”
Legolas and I then ran through the halls running to the room that I had come from earlier. What I saw I knew I never would forget. Pippin was standing in the middle of the room both hand gripping the Palantir with the most horrified face that I at once feared for him. I then stepped forward grabbing the Palantir from Pippin only to be taken over by it’s power. I dropped the Palantir shortly after touch it and I fell to my knees.
I probably would have fell on my face if it weren’t for Legolas who I felt grab me around the waist then I started to fall. Legolas slowly lowered himself and my body to the ground placing my head in his lap petting my head with his hand asking softly in a soothing voice if I was ok.
It took me a few minutes to gather myself again, but once I did I heard Legolas speaking to me, “Please Aragorn…talk to me! Answer me!!” his beautiful face is contorted with concern for me. I must have been very tired for it seemed as if there were tears in his eyes. But it can’t be sure because I have never seen him cry before.
“Don’t worry Mellon Nin… I’m fine!” I reinsured him and he reluctantly let go of me giving me space.
I slowly started to climb to my feet feeling slightly lost when I stopped touching him. For years I’ve been having strange feels for my friend and it was only recently that I realized that I was in love with him. However he could never know what I feel for him for a couple of reasons; one I was already promised to someone else. Then last there was no possible way that Legolas could return my feelings for him. Since to him I was just a friend that he would lose in a couple hundred years.
Once I was on my feet I notice that Gandalf was already helping Pippin and asking him what he saw. So I decided to leave and go inform King Theoden that there would need to be a meeting in the morning to discuss a new development in the War of Middle Earth.
The next morning Gandalf, Theoden and his nephew Eomer, Merry, Pippin, Gimil, Legolas and myself were all gathered in the thrown room. Gandalf was informing Theoden of what had happened. Telling him that Pippin hadn’t revealed their plan about destroying the rings.
Told us about how Sauron knew I was alive and about Sauron’s plan to destroy the white city. Gandalf also told Theoden that he must have his men ready to come to the aid of Gondor once the beacons were lit. Very little else was said during this time.
A couple of hours later Merry and I stood at the top of the watchtower watching Gandalf and Pippin ride of towards Gondor in order to warn them of Sauron’s plan.
Nothing happened then for several days. I for the most part found myself outside always waiting for the beacon’s to be lit. Once they finally were I rose from my spot on the ground and took off in a dead run towards the Golden Halls. Shoving open the door I stood there for a few seconds before calling out.
“The Beacons of Minas Tirith! The Beacons are lit!“ I said with more excitement then I meant to. Looking around the room seeing Eomer and Eowyn standing next to their uncle, but I finally rested my gaze on Theoden “Gondor calls for aid.”
Theoden stood there for several moments silently and then proudly states “Then Rohan will answer! Muster the Rohirrim!” Then turns to Eomer giving him further orders, and then finally Eomer leaves.
Several days after the Battle of Pelennor Fields…
I was so tired, but I knew I still had much to get done before we left for the Black gates tomorrow. After the fighting was over and I had released the Army of the dead. Everyone that could still walk unassisted began first to gather the wounded and the dead. Then because of my healing skills, I’ve been working almost none stop, healing the most critical of the wounded that would have otherwise die. Also during all this, I manage to found time to attend a meeting with Gandalf and the rest of the remaining fellowship where it was decided we were to march on the Black Gates of Mordor to attempt to buy Frodo more time.
Suddenly my thoughts were interrupted with the arrival of Gimli pushing Legolas into the room.
“What wrong my friends” I said looking amusedly at Legolas who was glaring at the dwarf.
“Aragorn the elf won’t rest, he needs to rest especially if he plans to stay on a horse going towards Mordor and looking at you now I would say you do too.” I had to smile that the concern that Gimli had just shown to us and I smiled when I thought about how far we’ve all grown to like each other during this journey.
“Don’t worry master Dwarf I’ll sleep tonight and I’ll make sure our elf does also.” Gimli just nodded his head satisfied with my answer. Legolas turned to glare at me and then turned towards Gimli asking, “Is it ok with you now if we go and attend to the horse’s Master Dwarf.” Gimli nodded and Legolas turned around and left the room Gimli followed closely after.
For the rest of the day I continued to treat the wounded and gave orders about what we were going to need for the March to Mordor, and come that night Legolas found me still in the healing rooms.
“You know Aragorn you promised the dwarf to sleep and that you’ll make sure I rest.” I smiled and grabbed his arm leading him to my room.
“Well Legolas you are right… and so, since I’m an healer, and also your commander… I’m telling you to lie down and sleep!” I smile when he pouts and crosses his arms before his chest.
“Who say you’re my commander? I’m a prince!”
I laugh and push him toward the bed. “Yeah… you are a prince, but I will be King!”
He shrugs and sits on the bed taking my hand and forcing me to do the same. “Don’t start to play rank on me…”
I lie down and push him down so he was beside me and cover us both with a blanket. “You started it… now, sleep!”
He grunts but does as I say and lies down turning around to face the wall. I’m really tempted to wrap my arms around him. But I stop myself before I do something that would compromise our friendship. I turn around as well and force myself to relax.
Soon both of us fall asleep.
I must of feel asleep for a few hours cause when I woke up again there were no noise around me, and Legolas was laying down next to me his eyes glazed over in Elven sleep. I smiled at how peaceful Legolas looked and I knew what I had to do.
I carefully got off the bed, and quietly made my way to the throne room where the palantir was being held and found myself standing at the doorway for several seconds and taking a deep breath and approached the palantir.
Once again taking a deep breath I grabbed hold of the fabric that covers it and pulled it off. Dropping the fabric I grabbed the palantir and held it up in front of my face. Admittedly coming into contact with the Great Eye of Sauron. “Long have you hunted me. Long have I eluded you. No more!” I then pulled out Anduril and held it out in front of the Palantir. “Behold, the Sword of Elendil!” Soon everything went dark.
I woke up the next morning feeling slightly different, but figured I was just over tired from all the days off healing and meetings, and preparing to leave for the Black gates. I quickly got out of bed and got dressed in the emblem of the White Tree and Seven Stars with the Crown above them as Faramir and Gandalf had told me that I might not be officially the King yet, but I better dress as I were. I walked outside and admittedly say Legolas who was slight more pale then usually, but again I just figured that he was tired. “Well Aragorn you do clean up nicely.” Legolas smiles and I smile back. I was about to say something back to Legolas until Gandalf rode up beside us and Gimli walked outside and went to Legolas side for help onto the back of his horse. Minutes later Gandalf said that everyone was here and that we should move out and the order was soon given and our determined army started heading to Mordor.
Days after the March to the Black Gates and the rescue of Frodo and Sam
Most of the people I’ve ever cared for are here today. There here in Gondor awaiting the ceremony that would crown me as the King of Gondor and of Middle Earth, and although I thought I’ve already ready myself for this step, I’m still doubting that this is truly the right thing for me, for Gondor, for anyone really. I’m a ranger what do I know about ruling an entire kingdom.
“You’ll do fine my friend, and you’ll have help that what friends and advisors are for.” Legolas voice called out from behind me causing me to turn quickly to face him and envelop into a tight hug.
It feels so right is to have him into my arms. I actually almost feel complete which is something I’ve never realized before that I was missing. Yet here I am. With a friend, my best friend, in my arms… and feeling alive and safe for the first time during those days.
Only my father’s arms have had the power to make me feel safe and protected and loved. Lord Elrond has been the only father I’ve known since Orcs had killed my real father when I was no more than an infant..
And also my brothers Elladan and Elrohir have that power like Glorfindel… but neither of them has ever been like Legolas.
I’ve actually been told that it was Legolas that saved me from sharing the same fate as my father, and it was he that took me to Rivendell. Then of course we all know that Lord Elrond adopted me and then I became another son of Lord Elrond.
“You’ve always known me so well my friend.” I mumbled into his neck. Legolas didn’t say anything just held me for a few more minutes.
“Aragorn I want you to know that no matter what going on in either you life or mine, we’ll always be friends and if you need me I’ll be there as soon as possible.”
I smiled at him feeling a whole lot better, and nodded that I understood what he just told me. Right then Gimli walked into the room and told us that Gandalf had sent him and it was time. I thanked Gimli and said I’ll be there in a minutes and both Legolas and I watch him go.
“I better go Aragorn, and don’t worry you’ll be fine and I’ll be out in the audience somewhere.” Legolas smiled at me, and I couldn’t help, but smile back.
Once he left I slowly made my way to my place and soon the ceremony was underway and sooner then I would have liked I was crowned the King of Gondor. I walked up the steps slightly and turned towards the people and the place soon erupted into cheers. I held my hand out and every one quieted in seconds and I made a speech about how this day doesn’t belong to me, but to everyone. Again everyone started cheering and I made my way towards all the people inclining my head towards the people I knew who bowed at me like Faramir and Eowyn, Eomer who is now the king of Rohan.
I continued walking until I found Legolas and I then put my hand on his shoulder, “Hannon Le” I tell him and he just smile and looks slight behind him and I took that as my cue and do the same.
Behind him I see my Foster Father, The Twins, Glorfindel, and many other people I knew from the Elven kingdoms and then behind a banner of the white tree Arwen makes herself known.
I walked up to her and kiss her gently on the lips, happy that she was alive and well but also sad because I knew she had given up her immortality.
I know she has gladly forsaken her eternal life for me… for my love.
But I don’t love her! Well at least not like I used to or like she loves me. Now I just love her as a sister.
For she has always been a sister to me. Dear to my heart but… with her in my arms. It’s just doesn’t feel right! It’s like I miss something. Something important!
But I can’t dwell in those thoughts for the crowd cheers again and I reluctantly let go of her and turn to face them again.
I dared a glance at Arwen and what I see upon her face only makes me resolve to speak to her about us. Because now I really didn’t feel the same towards her like I did what seemed like it long ago, but was actually having feels for someone else that I knew I could never have.
I took her hand and together we walk towards the hobbits that like almost every bow. “My friends…” I waited until they all looked at me, then said “You bow to no one.” then I proceeded to kneel on the ground followed by everyone else in the courtyard.
After the ceremony was over it was announced that there was to be a banquet in the in the great halls and everyone was invited. The night was passing by to slowly for my taste and I would have loved to either talk with my friends and family or simply just go to bed it had been a long year after all.
But I see that something was missing. Or more like…someone. The banquet/celebration was taking away my time and I was feeling the need to find the missing piece of my family.
I couldn’t find Legolas anywhere, and I would love to have him here next to me, but I’ve haven’t seen him since the coronation. I was deeply in thought until I felt a hand grab hold of mine. I looked up and found myself looking into blue eyes. Arwen was looking at me and looking around. As I looked around also I saw everyone looking at me in the same way.
They were all waiting for me to say something. Then suddenly I realize that the time had come, and I had to make my promise to the elf princess.
This celebration is just a betrothal’s party but neither my new people nor Arwen suspect anything. My father came up with this idea once he realized that I didn’t love Arwen anymore…at least romantically.
I make my promise and then look up to search again the sea of people to find those blue eyes I love so much. But he’s still nowhere to be seen.
