Legolas came riding up between the silver-barked trees. Home. Home at last. After so many weeks. No matter where in the world he traveled, Mirkwood would always be his favorite place, and close to his heart.
He sent a pile of golden leaves, fallen from the trees, flying as his horse, Nalan, went galloping through them. This was ment by angry cries from the Elves who'd been carefully sorting them in a patient and tidy way that only Elves could. Legolas grinned guiltily over his shoulder as them as he rode up to the marble throne at the end of the path, beautifully bedecked in ivory.
There was where Legolas' father, Thranduil, usually sat, but was empty now. Legolas dismounted Nalan, delicately approached the throne and ran his hand over it in wonder. He was still smiling. His father was currently in Rivendell, in Elrond's counsel, but he would be back in a few weeks.
