Silent Wish.
Birthday ficlet.

Erestor grinned as Glorfindel reached for one of his wrapped begetting day gifts. Blindly he simply tore the cork from the top and poured himself a glass of wine, before setting the still colourfully wrapped bottle back down.

The hall of fire was empty now, save for himself and Glorfindel, who was laid out amongst the cushions with an oddly sulky expression.

“Now how could you possibly of known that that was wine?” Erestor asked sarcastically as he stepped into the warrior’s line of vision.

Glorfindel immediately hid his slight pout and smiled adoringly up at Erestor, he had been scanning the hall all evening in the hope that Erestor had attending his rather extravagant celebration of getting older.

“Well…” he began as he glanced back at the large pile of wrapped gifts, at least thirty of them being wine bottled shaped, “….just a guess”

Erestor graced Glorfindel with one of his most loving, rare smiles and knelt down before the slightly drunk warrior. “Is there a reason the begetting day boy was sulking a moment before?”

“I was not sulking” he replied quietly and with an embarrassed smile.

“Indeed you were Seneschal, what could you be wanting for? What would make you pout so adorably when one has just had a rather extravagant feast thrown in his honour, not to mention all the gifts, the music the guests…”

“You were not there” the warrior spoke quietly, he was neither angry or defensive, simply….disappointed. “I had hoped you would come” Glorfindel said with a small shrug and slightly saddened smile. What Glorfindel did not know, was that Erestor had organized the entire event, right down to the music, games and food; all had been fixed to Glorfindel’s own personal preferences.

“I am sorry, I was waylaid”

“By what exactly?” Glorfindel asked calmly, if not a little more sadly that Erestor had been so easily distracted from even making an appearance to his begetting day bash.

“An upset lady Arwen, I found her wandering the halls looking for her Nana and Ada, who were of course here…”

“Did she not have a sitter?”

Erestor raised his brow, his presence had obviously meant more to Glorfindel than he had originally thought. He thought back to his past begetting days, last year Glorfindel had bombarded him with gifts. There had been a silver hair clasp, a new quill and ink set, a portrait the warrior had drawn of him, a large cake the blond had baked himself, a beautiful wooden carving of Erestor’s horse made by Glorfindel‘s masterful hands, and an invitation to a midnight ride on Asfaloth which he had had to quite rudely decline due to his heavy work load. And he, had not even turned up to his begetting day party.

“Aye, but the little scamp had snuck out on her. When she found me in the halls, as I was heading to your gathering, she had been teary eyed and refused to go back to her bed unless I read to her, her favourite book” he finished with a sigh.

“The princess and the frog?” Glorfindel asked quietly as he glanced at Erestor over the edge of his glass. The beginnings of forgiveness in his eyes.

“Aye, that very one. I am sorry Glorfindel, I wanted to be here but she did not drift off until about an hour ago and…”

“An hour ago? You still could of attended for a short while at least”

There was no mistaking the hurt in the warrior’s voice, and rightly so Erestor thought. Glorfindel, though a brazen and mighty warrior was the most sweet natured elf he knew. The blond had never tried to conceal the feelings he felt for Erestor, and persisted in his gentlemanly way even in the face of what could have been seen as disinterest.

“Actually…” he began as he took away the glass of wine and slipped his own hand into the warrior’s larger one, and gently pulled him to his feet, “…I thought to make up for my lateness, so if you will follow me I would like to give you your gift”

Erestor felt his heart melt as Glorfindel smiled brightly, “you got me a gift?” he whispered.

Erestor did not answer, he simply pulled the warrior towards the exit of the hall. He looked back at Glorfindel when he meant to pull his hand away, and smiled as the warrior, who averted his blue eyes, would not let go of the advisor’s hand, and in fact entwined their fingers. Erestor smiled and let his fingers entwine with the warrior’s, earning him a surprised and blissfully happy smile in return.

“Come, your gift is in my rooms”

Glorfindel stood before the small table with his mouth in a slightly open smile. The room was lit with a low light, two candles sat upon the small table along with two dishes filled with sweet pastries. It was a most intimate setting.

“I ah, managed to salvage some food from the kitchen that wasn’t used for the feast”

Glorfindel smiled at Erestor, moved and far to touched for words, he had only ever dreamed of Erestor doing something like this for him. But what was more touching, was that for the first time in the many years he had known Erestor, it was the advisor and not he, that looked nervous.

“Happy begetting day Glorfindel, I know it is not much but…”

“It is perfect, thank you Erestor”

He watched, feeling overwhelmed by the love he felt at that moment as Erestor indicated for him to sit. He watched as Erestor served the wine, and finally sat himself. Each and every moment, every look was precious, he watched and encouraged each hesitant smile of the advisor’s with one of his own. He watched curiously as Erestor cleared their plates and brought another tray to the table, one covered in silver lid that matched the rest of the cutlery.

“Now, last year you baked me a most delicious begetting day cake…” he began; grinning when Glorfindel laughed quietly, “…now I have no such culinary skills, so, I hope you will except my most pathetic attempt of a begetting day cake..”

Glorfindel threw his head back and laughed when the tray was uncovered. There lay many a slice of lembas, each one with a small lit candle protruding from it.

“Oh Erestor, how I love you” the warrior chuckled, his laughter ceased and his eyes went wide when he realised exactly what it was he had said.

Hesitantly he met Erestor’s astonished gaze and quickly stood, fiddling aimlessly with the napkin in his hands.

“I..I am sorry, oh damn, that was so stupid, I have ruined...and you went to so much trouble…I will just, just be going..” Glorfindel trailed off quietly as he dropped the napkin on the table; averting his eyes as he straightened his tunic and made to leave.

“Wait, where are you going?”

Erestor reached and pulled Glorfindel back by the hand, the warrior looked at him, at a loss as to what to do.

“I have not given you your begetting day present”

“But, but I thought…” Glorfindel indicated to the table where his lembas slices lay.

“Nay, well yes that was apart of it but, but I had something else I wished to give you”

“What else would you give me?” he whispered, desperate to either leave the room, or for Erestor to reassure him.

Erestor smiled and stepped closer to the warrior, “first of all…” he whispered, “…I would have you smile on your begetting day,” he gently stroked a flushed cheek, smiling as everything he could ever wish for stared back at him in clear blue hope.

He chuckled even, as Glorfindel’s expression changed to one of utterly stilled and silent question. He encouraged Glorfindel to put his large hands on his slim waist, guiding them before meeting Glorfindel’s terrified gaze.

“And secondly, I would overwhelm and envelope you in the love and affection I hold for you. I would promise you anything you would ask, I would dote upon you, adore you, hold you and keep you as my own, if you would stay this night and love me.”

There was a long pause, where Erestor simply waited for an answer, the advisor smiled and cupped the warrior’s face with both of his hands.

“Breath Glorfindel” he chuckled.

A small burst of air left the warrior’s lips, and he smiled shyly; having not realised he had been holding his breath.

“What say you?”

Glorfindel smiled, and touched his brow to his beloveds, and then he laughed.

“Need you ask Erestor, need you ask?”

Their first kiss was, in a word magical. So soft and gentle, exciting and satisfying. But soon enough Glorfindel had pulled Erestor flush against his body, their tongues plundered each others mouths as their sweet and heated breath clashed. Glorfindel smiled into the kiss as he felt Erestor grin against his lips. Erestor’s grin was adorable as the advisor shyly squeezed the warrior’s behind.

Glorfindel playfully growled into the kiss as he cupped Erestor’s face and sweetly played with his lips; the feel of Erestor’s hands dipping beneath his leggings to grope his naked cheeks brining him to full arousal.

It was Erestor who pulled back from the kiss and shyly lead the warrior into his bedroom, Glorfindel bit his lip and followed. When they were standing in the dark room, the large bed seemed to intimidate them both. It was when they faced each other nervously, that they both laughed, seeing equally mounted anticipation and trepidation, and after that one look, the bed no longer seemed large and intimidating, but inviting and warm.

Slowly they disrobed each other, and laid their bodies down on the soft sheets. For a while they lay naked, kissing, as if they were elflings on the verge of maturity and too afraid to progress further, but eager and desperate none-the-less.

Glorfindel pulled his lips back from Erestor’s with a sigh, smiling down at his fondest dream as he stroked back jet black hair onto a pristine pillow.

“So,” he began.

“So,” Erestor replied with amusement.

“what ah….well, what exactly do you want, would like?” he asked quietly as he let his hand gently rub up and down Erestor’s side.

“What do I want?” Erestor asked with a raised brow,

“I mean, would you prefer to….or would you like me…”

For some reason, Erestor realised, Glorfindel was not only nervous, but shy. Erestor smiled and chuckled, deciding to put the suddenly bashful warrior out of his misery.

“Tell me what you want, whatever it is, you shall have it” he said tenderly as he lovingly brushed his lips against his soon to be lover.

“What I want?”

“Aye”

“Could you give me what I want?”

“If it is within my power”

“I would ask for you, to take you and your heart. And…” he licked his lips nervously.

“Anything Glorfindel”

“I would ask to keep it…” he whispered shakily, “I would be a good husband Erestor, I swear. I would love and honour you….”

Erestor smiled adoringly before leaning up to stop the blonds insistent promises with a sealing kiss.

“I know love, you need not try to convince me” he whispered against trembling lips.

“So, so yes?” Glorfindel dared a smile.

“Need you ask Glorfindel, need you ask?” he giggled, using the warrior’s own previous words against him.

Glorfindel’s cry was more than endearing and heart felt, it was one of final relief, as if he could finally let go of the breath he had been holding since meeting Erestor. Erestor laughed as the warrior collapsed atop of him from where he had been looking down at the advisor; his head buried in his shoulder as he smiled and laughed with all the joy he felt.

“First, let us make love Glorfindel, please?”

“Yes! Yes Erestor yes!” He declared beautifully, so happy was he.

“Then have me, as you were always meant to” sliding his hand beneath a pillow he retrieved a small vial of oil, and placed it in Glorfindel’s hand.

There loving was slow, Glorfindel lay atop of Erestor; the dark elf’s slim legs wrapped around his waist as the warrior thrust painfully slowly, in, and out. There fingers were entwined; their fists laying either side of Erestor’s head. The room was silent save for their heavy panting and bated breaths. Every so often Glorfindel would thrust sharper, deeper, and both of their mouths would fall open in silent screams of pleasure. Deep kisses were shared during the languid but blissful pace, no words spoken, but love evident in their coupling.

They came to their completion together in an open mouthed, desperate kiss. They were silent; the harsh pants of their breaths and the frantic beating of their hearts drumming in their ears. With a heavy sigh Glorfindel could not help but slump over Erestor, to spent to pull away or out of his lover. Erestor murmured happily; softly rolling them both onto their sides. They spent the rest of that night quietly looking into the eyes of their new found and eternal love. Sweet words were exchanged, soft kisses and promises. With dawn approaching they still lay connected, neither willing to separate from such closeness. On the very brink of reverie; land of dreams, Glorfindel with a last effort kissed his lovers brow, whispering to the world though none could hear, the words that had laid in wait on his lips, waiting to be spoken in truth.

“My silent but all consuming, most precious most coveted wish come true”

The End.
