Pairing: Glorfindel/Erestor, Elrond/Legolas
Summary: Relationships can change unexpectedly, especially if they’re
given some “help”.
Warning: So fluffy it’ll get stuck in the back of your throat.
A/N: Please forgive the fluff. My elves demanded it. I’m innocent.
Disclaimer: Oh, they’re not “my” elves.
Night had long descended on the vale that housed Imladris. The air was
still and the house was silent. Unexpectedly, a door slammed followed by
loud cursing in the normally elegant elvish tongue. A light was lit at a
window revealing a small study occupied by a dark haired and very irate
Elf.
Erestor paced back and forth in his study, cursing under his breath. Once
or twice he paused and banged his fists on the heavy wooden desk. He
stopped all movement when there was a soft knock at the door and he
relaxed somewhat. Only one Elf in the whole of Imladris would dare to
interrupt Erestor when he was in this mood.
“Come in Glorfindel.” He said as he swept his hair back from his face.
The handle turned and the door opened a fraction.
“Is it safe?” A voice called from the other side of the door.
“I promise not to bite.” He replied. Satisfied with that answer the door was
pushed open revealing a golden haired Elf carrying a tray. “You didn’t
have to bring tea Glorfindel.”
“I know.” He said, kicking the door shut. Erestor made himself
comfortable on one of the reading chairs under the window while
Glorfindel poured them each a cup of tea. He then followed Erestor’s
example and settled in the other chair.
“What did he do this time?” Glorfindel asked. Erestor looked up from
sipping his tea and thought for a moment before replying. His friend
always came to sooth his bad moods. Apparently, the cause for this one
was obvious.
“He tried to kiss me.”
“Again?” Glorfindel seemed rather surprised.
“Yes.” Erestor sighed.
“But that’s the third time this week.” He exclaimed. Surely Elrond would
have understood by now that Erestor just wasn’t interested in him.
“I know.” Erestor sat back in the chair, folding his legs underneath him.
“Ugh, why won’t he listen?” He said, more to himself than Glorfindel.
“Want me to cut his lips off?” Asked Glorfindel in apparent seriousness.
Erestor just raised his eyebrow.
“No, too messy.” He decided.
“Well, it’s an option” Glorfindel said with a smile.
“Why can’t he accept that I’m just not interested?”
“I agree. For an Elven Lord he is rather stupid.” Glorfindel mused. He
ignored the questioning look Erestor gave him. “He doesn’t understand the
word ‘no.’”
Erestor sighed. “I am getting rather fed up with this. I’m going to lock him
in a room with Legolas until they get this whole thing sorted. Diplomacy
be damned!”
“You’re still the hopeless romantic aren’t you?” Asked Glorfindel with a
chuckle. Erestor’s expression softened.
“Those two are perfect for each other. I wish they’d see it and stop
dancing around the whole issue.”
“I was talking about you, not them.”
“Aye.” Erestor sighed again. “I want a lover that I can spend my life with,
not a quick fumble in a darkened room.” They sat in comfortable silence
for a few moments, drinking their tea.
“I still don’t know what to do about Elrond.” Erestor admitted. He rolled
his eyes when he saw Glorfindel smirk. “What?” he asked.
“I have an idea.” Admitted Glorfindel after a few moments.
“Does it involve maiming?” Asked Erestor dryly. He had to admit his
curiosity was piqued.
“Unfortunately not.”
“Oh.” Said Erestor feigning disappointment but his smile gave him away.
“If he thought you already had a lover, he might back down.” Glorfindel
mused.
“Or go insane with jealousy and banish them from Imladris.” A pause.
“You offering?”
“I’m not suggesting you tell him, merely drop hints. Vanish for a few
hours, day dream, don’t always eat in the dining hall. Yes, I’m offering.”
Erestor turned to look out of the window while he thought about his
decision. The only reply he could think of was that it was a shame it
wasn’t for real. He knew he was in love with his golden haired friend but
he also knew that his feelings weren’t returned. Why would Glorfindel
settle for him when he could have any Elf in Imladris he wanted? Turning
back to face his friend he noticed Glorfindel had been staring at him and
was now blushing at being caught.
“You’re mad.” Said Erestor.
“Probably, but it’ll be fun.”
“Fine, I accept. But what about you, don’t you have a lover?” Glorfindel
looked somewhat surprised at the question.
“No, I don’t.” He said sadly.
“I must admit, I am somewhat surprised. You are beautiful, meldir. You
could have any Elf you wanted in a second.” Erestor found it was his turn
to blush when he realised what he had just said while Glorfindel grinned at
the unexpected compliment.
“I don’t want just anyone for a second. My heart is taken by the most
beautiful and intelligent Elf on the whole of Arda.” Glorfindel hadn’t
meant to blurt that out. Was it his imagination, or did Erestor look a little
disappointed?
“Do they not return your love?” Erestor asked. How could anyone not love
Glorfindel?
“I haven’t asked him.” Glorfindel said quietly, looking away. The
conversation seemed to end there. They sat in silence as they finished
drinking their tea. Unexpectedly, Glorfindel yawns widely.
“It’s late and I have a few things to finish here. Got to bed, meldir.”
Glorfindel gave Erestor a rather grateful look, he was quite tired tonight.
As he stood, he took Erestor’s cup and takes the tray with him. He reached
the door when he turned round and noticed Erestor was still sat in the
chair, staring out of the window again.
“Goodnight Erestor.” He said, causing Erestor to jump. He hadn’t noticed
Glorfindel was still there. He managed a small smile.
“Goodnight.” With that Glorfindel opened the door and was about to
leave.
“Glorfindel.” He turned back to Erestor, who was now looking at him and
chewing his lip. Obviously the dark haired Elf wanted to say something.
“Thank you.” He whispered.
“Goodnight.” Glorfindel said quietly as he left.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An hour later Erestor left his desk and blew out the lamp. There was only
so much work he could do in one day and tonight he needed a good
night’s sleep. The situation with Elrond was beginning to stress him more
than a hundred council meetings ever would. It was late and the corridors
were empty as he made his way back to his rooms. As he reached his door
he absentmindedly began to unbutton his shirt, as he always did and was
about to push open the door. A noise in his room stopped him dead. There
was someone snoring softly. /Not tonight, please/ he pleaded. He opened
the door as silently as he could and peeked around the edge of the door. A
dark figure was fast asleep on his bed! Just as silently he closed the door
again and fought the urge to bang his head on the wall.
What was he to do now? There was no way that he would go into that
room with Elrond asleep on his bed. Maybe Glorfindel would let him stay.
That would certainly help this plan of Glorfindel’s if he didn’t return to his
rooms that night. No, that was madness. He couldn’t sleep in the same
room as him, what if he revealed his attraction and made a fool of
himself?. Then reality set in. It was either Glorfindel or Elrond. That
needed no thought. Erestor turned and ran straight to his friend’s rooms.
/This is madness/ Erestor thought again as he knocked on the wooden
door.
“Go away, it’s late.” A voice mumbled from inside.
“Glorfindel, let me in.” He called. There was silence followed by quick
footsteps. The door opened to reveal a bleary eyed elf who had obviously
just been woken up. Erestor just stared at the vision in front of him.
Glorfindel was only wearing a light pair of leggings and his hair was
messed up from bed. Erestor didn’t think he’d ever seen anything so
beautiful. Glorfindel was having similar thoughts. Erestor’s shirt was half
undone and his skin was flushed. Why it was, Glorfindel didn’t know.
Their gazes travelled upwards at the same time and dark blue eyes met
black ones. Without realising it, they stared at each other before Erestor
shook his head and the moment was broken.
“What can I do for you, meldir?” Glorfindel asked after swallowing
thickly. He hadn’t expected Erestor to have that much effect on him!
“He’s asleep in my bed.” Erestor admitted. Glorfindel rolled his eyes. He
didn’t need telling just who was in Erestor’s bed.
“Come in.” He said and moved aside so Erestor could enter his room and
he shut the door behind them both. Glorfindel walked to his desk and lit
one of the candles.
“You can sleep here tonight.” Glorfindel said. “Let me find you something
to sleep in.” He rummaged around the wardrobe looking for something
that might fit the other elf.
“Thank you.” Erestor whispered. He moved to sit on the edge of the bed
and began to remove his boots. He stopped when Glorfindel handed him a
loose shirt. He thanked the golden haired elf again before heading into the
bathroom to change.
He undressed quickly and pulled the shirt over his head, stopping when he
realised he could smell Glorfindel on it. Indulging himself, he gathered up
the fabric and inhaled deeply. He sighed sadly, knowing that once this
business with Elrond was over, he wouldn’t have a reason to come to
Glorfindel’s rooms and spend so much time with him. Erestor shook his
head when he noticed that the shirt only came to mid thigh and the lacing
on the front came down far too low. This shirt probably fit Glorfindel well
but on him it was far too big. He undid his braids, running Glorfindel’s
comb through his hair. Gathering up his clothes, he folded them neatly and
took them into the bedroom.
Glorfindel had already found a blanket and had made himself a bed on the
couch under the window.
“You can have the bed Erestor.” He said. Erestor looked over to the bed,
surely it was big enough for both of them to sleep on? He almost
mentioned it but decided that it probably wasn’t a good idea.
“Thank you.” He said again. Erestor climbed under the covers, noticing
that they were still warm from when Glorfindel had occupied the bed.
Glorfindel blew out the candle and then tried to make himself comfortable
on the couch.
After perhaps ten minutes of listening to Glorfindel shift and sigh, Erestor
had had enough.
“Get into bed.” He said, causing the shifting to stop immediately.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, it’s big enough for both of us.” Erestor felt the mattress dip as
Glorfindel climbed in, careful not to move any closer no matter how
tempting that might be.
“Goodnight, Erestor.”
“Goodnight, Glorfindel.” Then silence before they both slowly drifted off
to sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Glorfindel woke slowly, aware of a warm body wrapped around his. It
took him a few seconds to remember that Erestor was asleep in his bed.
He opened his eyes and, sure enough, found a mass of back hair next to
him. At some point in the night, they must have moved towards Erestor
and ended up holding him. It did actually feel wonderful to hold Erestor in
his arms and feel warm breath brush against his neck. Actually, he felt as
though he could spend all day like this. Then he noticed that Erestor’s arm
was wrapped around his middle and their legs were rather tangled.
Glorfindel shifted his head slightly to study the elf he held in his arms and
his breath caught. Erestor was an attractive elf anyway, but now…The
dark haired elf’s features were utterly relaxed in slumber, completely
losing the slightly tense expression he normally had. His back eyes were
softened in sleep and his pink lips were parted slightly. Most attractive of
all, however, was the mane of dark hair. Normally tightly controlled with
braids, it was now a tangled mess spreading out on the pillow. Unable to
stop himself Glorfindel ran his fingers lightly through the soft locks and
cursed under his breath when Erestor began to stir. He chucked softly
when Erestor groaned and buried his head further into Glorfindel’s neck.
Was the calm, controlled advisor not a morning person? He became more
serious when Erestor froze against him, obviously realising their position.
“Good morning.” Glorfindel whispered. Erestor raised his head and
blinked sleepily at the blond elf.
“Morning.” He yawned back. Then he tried to begin a mumbled apology.
“Um…I’m sorry…”
“Shh.” Glorfindel cut him off, placing a finger over Erestor’s lips before
running his fingers through the dark hair again. Their eyes met again and
something silent must have passed between them as Glorfindel lowered
his lips to touch Erestor’s just as he raised his to meet Glorfindel’s. They
both closed their eyes in anticipation, they could both feel the other’s
warm breath on their faces. Arms wrapped around tighter as they moved
closer, they were almost…
A loud nock at the door disturbed them and broke the intimacy of the
moment. Glorfindel groaned and dropped his head to Erestor’s shoulder,
sighing deeply. He smiled when he felt fingers moving in his hair.
“What is it?” He called, a little harsher than he intended.
“Have you seen Erestor?” Elrond’s voice called in reply. Glorfindel
grinned wickedly.
“I have not.” He replied in all seriousness. “Is he missing?”
“No, I just needed to see him. If you find him, tell him I was looking for
him.”
“I will.” It was all they could do not to burst out laughing, and they did
manage to hold themselves in until Elrond’s footsteps had faded out of
earshot.
A few moments later, Erestor was the first to calm down.
“I really should go see what he wants.” He sighed as he got up from the
bed and picked up his clothes. “Will I see you later?”
“Of course.” Glorfindel replied softly. Erestor smiled and headed into the
bathroom. Glorfindel watched Erestor leave and then sighed deeply. Oh,
how wonderful it had felt to wake up with Erestor in his arms. Nothing
before had ever felt so comfortable or seemed so right! He silently he
vowed to himself that he would tell Erestor how he felt. But how? A
sudden thought occurred to him and he smirked. He knew exactly what to
do! He forced himself to look a bit more serious when he heard Erestor
emerging from the bathroom.
“Thank you for last night, meldir.” Said Erestor, feeling a little
embarrassed. After all, he had just woken up in the arms of the elf that he
was in love with. He handed the shirt back to Glorfindel, who was still sat
on the bed.
“Think nothing of it.” He replied. Erestor nodded and went to leave. Just
as he reached the door, he turned back to face Glorfindel and was about to
say something when he changed his mind and left instead.
The corridors back to his room were a lot busier than they had been the
night before and a few elves saw him leave Glorfindel’s rooms. Well,
there was nothing he could do about that. He was sure Elrond would soon
be finding out the identity of his ‘lover’ very soon.
Fortunately he did make it back to his rooms without running into Elrond,
but he was probably in the Library trying not to stare at Legolas. The
Mirkwood elf had arrived a few weeks earlier and the attraction between
him and Elrond had been obvious to all except themselves. He shook his
head as he ran a hot bath. Those two really needed to sort this out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Erestor found himself running down the corridor again when he
discovered that he was over two hours late for his usual morning meeting
with Elrond. He had lingered in the bath, allowing his thoughts to wonder.
He certainly hoped the blush those thoughts had created had gone by now.
He slowed down to a quick walk as he reached the Library. The door was
already open, meaning the Library was open to everyone. He hoped
Elrond was in a calmer mood today.
His hopes dropped when he saw Legolas curled up on one of the
comfortable chairs, reading a heavy book. He noticed Legolas’s attention
was held by something other than the book. Or rather a dark haired
someone sat at a table nearby.
“Good morning, Legolas.” Erestor said as he walked past. The blond head
flicked up and a blush stained his features, embarrassed at having been
caught staring.
“Good morning, Erestor.” He replied and quickly turned his attention to
his book.
“So good of you to join us this morning.” Elrond looked up from the scroll
he was examining. “I trust you slept well.” His tone was rather abrupt.
“Of course Elrond. I hope you are well this morning.” He replied politely.
“I am fine.” With that Elrond returned to studying the scroll, not before
giving an oblivious Legolas a lingering glance. Erestor just rolled his eyes
and walked to his office, a small room separated from the main Library.
He stopped in the doorway when he noticed a dark rose on his desk. /Who
would leave such a thing?/ he thought. Then he remembered this ‘plan’
that Glorfindel had created. He had probably left it there to wind Elrond
up. Still, it was a lovely gesture. He walked to the desk and picked the rose
up, inhaling the scent. He’d never been given flowers before and he
grinned. Then he noticed a note that had been under the rose. It had his
name on the front, written in Glorfindel’s hand. Slowly, he opened it
hoping to read the words that he knew would never read. His eyes
widened and he laughed out loud when he read what was written.
//Oh, Erestor. I was talking about you. I love you.//
Glorfindel loved him. He loved him! He held the note to his heart and
laughed, the sound causing Elrond to come in.
“Erestor?” He asked, rather surprised to find his advisor giggling. Then he
saw the rose. “Oh, I see.” Erestor stopped laughing and chewed his lip.
How would Elrond react? His question was answered when Elrond turned
and left without another word.
For the rest of the day, Erestor didn’t even try and get any work done. He
would have gone straight to Glorfindel if the blond elf hadn’t been out
training the guards today. He wouldn’t return until well after the evening
meal. Instead of work he stared out of the window, occasionally sighing
happily and rereading the note. He would talk with Glorfindel tomorrow,
he decided.
Throughout the day Elrond would come into his office to collect scrolls
and books he needed. Erestor didn’t even notice.
When night finally arrived Erestor rose from his desk and was rather
alarmed he hadn’t actually done any work today. Well, he could always do
it tomorrow. He noticed that both Elrond and Legolas had left the Library,
obviously in a hurry as the scrolls Elrond had been reading earlier were
still on the desk and Legolas’s book was still open on the chair. Erestor
grinned. Just maybe they had both worked it out. Erestor decided to leave
the book and scrolls where they were. He didn’t want to disturb whatever
work Elrond was in the middle of.
As he left the Library, he asked a passing servant for some food to be
brought to his room. He hadn’t noticed the passing of the day and now he
was hungry.
He reached his rooms just as the servant was leaving them and he thanked
her as he passed. The lamp in his room had been lit and a tray of delicious
smelling food had been left on his desk. Erestor picked at the food,
discovering he wasn’t really in the mood to eat tonight. He briefly
considered going to find Glorfindel but changed his mind when he realised
it was still early evening. In the end he opened a book he had been
reading, curled up on the window seat and tried to concentrate.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A yawn broke Erestor’s concentration and he was startled to discover how
late it was. He hadn’t meant to get so engrossed in the book. He sighed
deeply when he realised that even though Glorfindel would be back, it was
far too late to disturb him. There was nothing for it, he’d simply have to
wait.
He rose and dressed for bed, somewhat disappointed that he was alone
tonight. If he’d discovered Elrond in his bed tonight then he would have
gone straight to Glorfindel. He actually dropped the hairbrush he’d just
picked up when he thought of something. What if Glorfindel had only left
the note for Elrond to find? What if Glorfindel hadn’t meant what he’d
written? Erestor sat on the edge of his bed and fought the urge to cry.
Surely Glorfindel wouldn’t have gone that far, would he? He sat for a few
moments more before he remembered this morning. Glorfindel had almost
kissed him. There was some attraction there then. Tomorrow, he was
going to tell Glorfindel exactly how he felt.
With that thought in mind, Erestor blew out the lamp and got into bed. He
settled under the covers and tried to make himself comfortable. Only,
there was something missing. The bed was cold tonight. Normally he
never even thought about sleeping alone. Now he could think of nothing
else but curling around Glorfindel again. He contemplated just going to
Glorfindel’s room but reminded himself that the blond elf had had a busy
day and probably wanted some sleep.
Erestor shifted in the bed again. This was useless! He was never going to
fall asleep like this. Throwing back the cover, he made up his mind and
left the room without even bothering with a robe to cover his shirt. He
strode down the corridor, following the same path as the night before,
unaware that he was being followed by a dark form.
Meanwhile, Glorfindel was having similar trouble finding sleep. He hadn’t
even bothered to get into his bed. He sat on the couch he’d tried to sleep
on last night and stared at the bed. How wonderful it had felt to wake up
with his arms full of Erestor’s sleeping form. He wondered if Erestor
would mind if he asked to sleep with him tonight. No, that was a stupid
idea. Standing up, he paced around the bedroom for a few minutes before
shaking his head and leaving the room.
The door flew open just as Erestor raised his hand to knock on the door.
Slowly, he lowered his hand and just stared at the elf in front of him.
Glorfindel’s eye were alight with love and passion. The note had been
very real. Erestor swallowed and tried to think of something to say.
“I love you.” He blurted out before blushing deeply. Glorfindel stepped
forward and wrapped his arms around the slightly shorter elf.
“Oh, Erestor.” He whispered. “I love you too.”
They gazed at each other a second more before their lips met. Lightly at
first before a floodgate of passion was released. A tongue nudged against
teeth and they both groaned as the kiss deepened. They grasped at each
other, lips pressed together and tongues wrapping around each other’s.
They each tired to pour the love they felt for each other into the kiss.
Trying to make up for time wasted in the past.
They stumbled back into Glorfindel’s room ,slamming the door shut.
Tripping over something, they tumbled onto the floor never breaking
contact. Hands and lips roamed freely. Clothes were torn as desires kept
hidden for years were finally expressed. Heated flesh was exposed,
touched, tasted until finally Erestor arched up against Glorfindel and cried
out in ecstasy. Glorfindel’s shout followed a few seconds later. He
collapsed on top of Erestor, holding him close. They lay there for long
moments sharing soft kisses and whispered words of love. Eventually,
they moved to the bed before curling up together and falling asleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Unnoticed by either of them, a dark figure stood outside the door with a
smile on his face. Another figure crept out of the shadows, stopping
behind the taller one and wrapped his arms around him. The blond one
pressed close and began to nibble on Elrond’s ear, causing him to shiver.
“I do believe you owe me a forfeit.” Legolas whispered.
“I can’t believe I actually listened to you. I never would have seen it.”
Elrond whispered in reply. Legolas lowered his hands to Elrond’s waist,
pulling him closer.
“Come back to bed, love. I know exactly how you can replay me.” Elrond
turned in Legolas’s embrace and kissed him deeply.
“Very well, but we tell them the truth tomorrow.” Soft laughter echoed
down the corridor as the two lovers made their way back to Elrond’s
rooms.
chair, staring out of the window again.
“Goodnight Erestor.” He said, causing Erestor to jump. He hadn’t noticed
Glorfindel was still there. He managed a small smile.
“Goodnight.” With that Glorfindel opened the door and was about to
leave.
“Glorfindel.” He turned back to Erestor, who was now looking at him and
chewing his lip. Obviously the dark haired Elf wanted to say something.
“Thank you.” He whispered.
“Goodnight.” Glorfindel said quietly as he left.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An hour later Erestor left his desk and blew out the lamp. There was only
so much work he could do in one day and tonight he needed a good
night’s sleep. The situation with Elrond was beginning to stress him more
than a hundred council meetings ever would. It was late and the corridors
were empty as he made his way back to his rooms. As he reached his door
he absentmindedly began to unbutton his shirt, as he always did and was
about to push open the door. A noise in his room stopped him dead. There
was someone snoring softly. /Not tonight, please/ he pleaded. He opened
the door as silently as he could and peeked around the edge of the door. A
dark figure was fast asleep on his bed! Just as silently he closed the door
again and fought the urge to bang his head on the wall.
What was he to do now? There was no way that he would go into that
room with Elrond asleep on his bed. Maybe Glorfindel would let him stay.
That would certainly help this plan of Glorfindel’s if he didn’t return to his
rooms that night. No, that was madness. He couldn’t sleep in the same
room as him, what if he revealed his attraction and made a fool of
himself?. Then reality set in. It was either Glorfindel or Elrond. That
needed no thought. Erestor turned and ran straight to his friend’s rooms.
/This is madness/ Erestor thought again as he knocked on the wooden
door.
“Go away, it’s late.” A voice mumbled from inside.
“Glorfindel, let me in.” He called. There was silence followed by quick
footsteps. The door opened to reveal a bleary eyed elf who had obviously
just been woken up. Erestor just stared at the vision in front of him.
Glorfindel was only wearing a light pair of leggings and his hair was
messed up from bed. Erestor didn’t think he’d ever seen anything so
beautiful. Glorfindel was having similar thoughts. Erestor’s shirt was half
undone and his skin was flushed. Why it was, Glorfindel didn’t know.
Their gazes travelled upwards at the same time and dark blue eyes met
black ones. Without realising it, they stared at each other before Erestor
shook his head and the moment was broken.
“What can I do for you, meldir?” Glorfindel asked after swallowing
thickly. He hadn’t expected Erestor to have that much effect on him!
“He’s asleep in my bed.” Erestor admitted. Glorfindel rolled his eyes. He
didn’t need telling just who was in Erestor’s bed.
“Come in.” He said and moved aside so Erestor could enter his room and
he shut the door behind them both. Glorfindel walked to his desk and lit
one of the candles.
“You can sleep here tonight.” Glorfindel said. “Let me find you something
to sleep in.” He rummaged around the wardrobe looking for something
that might fit the other elf.
“Thank you.” Erestor whispered. He moved to sit on the edge of the bed
and began to remove his boots. He stopped when Glorfindel handed him a
loose shirt. He thanked the golden haired elf again before heading into the
bathroom to change.
He undressed quickly and pulled the shirt over his head, stopping when he
realised he could smell Glorfindel on it. Indulging himself, he gathered up
the fabric and inhaled deeply. He sighed sadly, knowing that once this
business with Elrond was over, he wouldn’t have a reason to come to
Glorfindel’s rooms and spend so much time with him. Erestor shook his
head when he noticed that the shirt only came to mid thigh and the lacing
on the front came down far too low. This shirt probably fit Glorfindel well
but on him it was far too big. He undid his braids, running Glorfindel’s
comb through his hair. Gathering up his clothes, he folded them neatly and
took them into the bedroom.
Glorfindel had already found a blanket and had made himself a bed on the
couch under the window.
“You can have the bed Erestor.” He said. Erestor looked over to the bed,
surely it was big enough for both of them to sleep on? He almost
mentioned it but decided that it probably wasn’t a good idea.
“Thank you.” He said again. Erestor climbed under the covers, noticing
that they were still warm from when Glorfindel had occupied the bed.
Glorfindel blew out the candle and then tried to make himself comfortable
on the couch.
After perhaps ten minutes of listening to Glorfindel shift and sigh, Erestor
had had enough.
“Get into bed.” He said, causing the shifting to stop immediately.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, it’s big enough for both of us.” Erestor felt the mattress dip as
Glorfindel climbed in, careful not to move any closer no matter how
tempting that might be.
“Goodnight, Erestor.”
“Goodnight, Glorfindel.” Then silence before they both slowly drifted off
to sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Glorfindel woke slowly, aware of a warm body wrapped around his. It
took him a few seconds to remember that Erestor was asleep in his bed.
He opened his eyes and, sure enough, found a mass of back hair next to
him. At some point in the night, they must have moved towards Erestor
and ended up holding him. It did actually feel wonderful to hold Erestor in
his arms and feel warm breath brush against his neck. Actually, he felt as
though he could spend all day like this. Then he noticed that Erestor’s arm
was wrapped around his middle and their legs were rather tangled.
Glorfindel shifted his head slightly to study the elf he held in his arms and
his breath caught. Erestor was an attractive elf anyway, but now…The
dark haired elf’s features were utterly relaxed in slumber, completely
losing the slightly tense expression he normally had. His back eyes were
softened in sleep and his pink lips were parted slightly. Most attractive of
all, however, was the mane of dark hair. Normally tightly controlled with
braids, it was now a tangled mess spreading out on the pillow. Unable to
stop himself Glorfindel ran his fingers lightly through the soft locks and
cursed under his breath when Erestor began to stir. He chucked softly
when Erestor groaned and buried his head further into Glorfindel’s neck.
Was the calm, controlled advisor not a morning person? He became more
serious when Erestor froze against him, obviously realising their position.
“Good morning.” Glorfindel whispered. Erestor raised his head and
blinked sleepily at the blond elf.
“Morning.” He yawned back. Then he tried to begin a mumbled apology.
“Um…I’m sorry…”
“Shh.” Glorfindel cut him off, placing a finger over Erestor’s lips before
running his fingers through the dark hair again. Their eyes met again and
something silent must have passed between them as Glorfindel lowered
his lips to touch Erestor’s just as he raised his to meet Glorfindel’s. They
both closed their eyes in anticipation, they could both feel the other’s
warm breath on their faces. Arms wrapped around tighter as they moved
closer, they were almost…
A loud nock at the door disturbed them and broke the intimacy of the
moment. Glorfindel groaned and dropped his head to Erestor’s shoulder,
sighing deeply. He smiled when he felt fingers moving in his hair.
“What is it?” He called, a little harsher than he intended.
“Have you seen Erestor?” Elrond’s voice called in reply. Glorfindel
grinned wickedly.
“I have not.” He replied in all seriousness. “Is he missing?”
“No, I just needed to see him. If you find him, tell him I was looking for
him.”
“I will.” It was all they could do not to burst out laughing, and they did
manage to hold themselves in until Elrond’s footsteps had faded out of
earshot.
A few moments later, Erestor was the first to calm down.
“I really should go see what he wants.” He sighed as he got up from the
bed and picked up his clothes. “Will I see you later?”
“Of course.” Glorfindel replied softly. Erestor smiled and headed into the
bathroom. Glorfindel watched Erestor leave and then sighed deeply. Oh,
how wonderful it had felt to wake up with Erestor in his arms. Nothing
before had ever felt so comfortable or seemed so right! He silently he
vowed to himself that he would tell Erestor how he felt. But how? A
sudden thought occurred to him and he smirked. He knew exactly what to
do! He forced himself to look a bit more serious when he heard Erestor
emerging from the bathroom.
“Thank you for last night, meldir.” Said Erestor, feeling a little
embarrassed. After all, he had just woken up in the arms of the elf that he
was in love with. He handed the shirt back to Glorfindel, who was still sat
on the bed.
“Think nothing of it.” He replied. Erestor nodded and went to leave. Just
as he reached the door, he turned back to face Glorfindel and was about to
say something when he changed his mind and left instead.
The corridors back to his room were a lot busier than they had been the
night before and a few elves saw him leave Glorfindel’s rooms. Well,
there was nothing he could do about that. He was sure Elrond would soon
be finding out the identity of his ‘lover’ very soon.
Fortunately he did make it back to his rooms without running into Elrond,
but he was probably in the Library trying not to stare at Legolas. The
Mirkwood elf had arrived a few weeks earlier and the attraction between
him and Elrond had been obvious to all except themselves. He shook his
head as he ran a hot bath. Those two really needed to sort this out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Erestor found himself running down the corridor again when he
discovered that he was over two hours late for his usual morning meeting
with Elrond. He had lingered in the bath, allowing his thoughts to wonder.
He certainly hoped the blush those thoughts had created had gone by now.
He slowed down to a quick walk as he reached the Library. The door was
already open, meaning the Library was open to everyone. He hoped
Elrond was in a calmer mood today.
His hopes dropped when he saw Legolas curled up on one of the
comfortable chairs, reading a heavy book. He noticed Legolas’s attention
was held by something other than the book. Or rather a dark haired
someone sat at a table nearby.
“Good morning, Legolas.” Erestor said as he walked past. The blond head
flicked up and a blush stained his features, embarrassed at having been
caught staring.
“Good morning, Erestor.” He replied and quickly turned his attention to
his book.
“So good of you to join us this morning.” Elrond looked up from the scroll
he was examining. “I trust you slept well.” His tone was rather abrupt.
“Of course Elrond. I hope you are well this morning.” He replied politely.
“I am fine.” With that Elrond returned to studying the scroll, not before
giving an oblivious Legolas a lingering glance. Erestor just rolled his eyes
and walked to his office, a small room separated from the main Library.
He stopped in the doorway when he noticed a dark rose on his desk. /Who
would leave such a thing?/ he thought. Then he remembered this ‘plan’
that Glorfindel had created. He had probably left it there to wind Elrond
up. Still, it was a lovely gesture. He walked to the desk and picked the rose
up, inhaling the scent. He’d never been given flowers before and he
grinned. Then he noticed a note that had been under the rose. It had his
name on the front, written in Glorfindel’s hand. Slowly, he opened it
hoping to read the words that he knew would never read. His eyes
widened and he laughed out loud when he read what was written.
//Oh, Erestor. I was talking about you. I love you.//
Glorfindel loved him. He loved him! He held the note to his heart and
laughed, the sound causing Elrond to come in.
“Erestor?” He asked, rather surprised to find his advisor giggling. Then he
saw the rose. “Oh, I see.” Erestor stopped laughing and chewed his lip.
How would Elrond react? His question was answered when Elrond turned
and left without another word.
For the rest of the day, Erestor didn’t even try and get any work done. He
would have gone straight to Glorfindel if the blond elf hadn’t been out
training the guards today. He wouldn’t return until well after the evening
meal. Instead of work he stared out of the window, occasionally sighing
happily and rereading the note. He would talk with Glorfindel tomorrow,
he decided.
Throughout the day Elrond would come into his office to collect scrolls
and books he needed. Erestor didn’t even notice.
When night finally arrived Erestor rose from his desk and was rather
alarmed he hadn’t actually done any work today. Well, he could always do
it tomorrow. He noticed that both Elrond and Legolas had left the Library,
obviously in a hurry as the scrolls Elrond had been reading earlier were
still on the desk and Legolas’s book was still open on the chair. Erestor
grinned. Just maybe they had both worked it out. Erestor decided to leave
the book and scrolls where they were. He didn’t want to disturb whatever
work Elrond was in the middle of.
As he left the Library, he asked a passing servant for some food to be
brought to his room. He hadn’t noticed the passing of the day and now he
was hungry.
He reached his rooms just as the servant was leaving them and he thanked
her as he passed. The lamp in his room had been lit and a tray of delicious
smelling food had been left on his desk. Erestor picked at the food,
discovering he wasn’t really in the mood to eat tonight. He briefly
considered going to find Glorfindel but changed his mind when he realised
it was still early evening. In the end he opened a book he had been
reading, curled up on the window seat and tried to concentrate.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A yawn broke Erestor’s concentration and he was startled to discover how
late it was. He hadn’t meant to get so engrossed in the book. He sighed
deeply when he realised that even though Glorfindel would be back, it was
far too late to disturb him. There was nothing for it, he’d simply have to
wait.
He rose and dressed for bed, somewhat disappointed that he was alone
tonight. If he’d discovered Elrond in his bed tonight then he would have
gone straight to Glorfindel. He actually dropped the hairbrush he’d just
picked up when he thought of something. What if Glorfindel had only left
the note for Elrond to find? What if Glorfindel hadn’t meant what he’d
written? Erestor sat on the edge of his bed and fought the urge to cry.
Surely Glorfindel wouldn’t have gone that far, would he? He sat for a few
moments more before he remembered this morning. Glorfindel had almost
kissed him. There was some attraction there then. Tomorrow, he was
going to tell Glorfindel exactly how he felt.
With that thought in mind, Erestor blew out the lamp and got into bed. He
settled under the covers and tried to make himself comfortable. Only,
there was something missing. The bed was cold tonight. Normally he
never even thought about sleeping alone. Now he could think of nothing
else but curling around Glorfindel again. He contemplated just going to
Glorfindel’s room but reminded himself that the blond elf had had a busy
day and probably wanted some sleep.
Erestor shifted in the bed again. This was useless! He was never going to
fall asleep like this. Throwing back the cover, he made up his mind and
left the room without even bothering with a robe to cover his shirt. He
strode down the corridor, following the same path as the night before,
unaware that he was being followed by a dark form.
Meanwhile, Glorfindel was having similar trouble finding sleep. He hadn’t
even bothered to get into his bed. He sat on the couch he’d tried to sleep
on last night and stared at the bed. How wonderful it had felt to wake up
with his arms full of Erestor’s sleeping form. He wondered if Erestor
would mind if he asked to sleep with him tonight. No, that was a stupid
idea. Standing up, he paced around the bedroom for a few minutes before
shaking his head and leaving the room.
The door flew open just as Erestor raised his hand to knock on the door.
Slowly, he lowered his hand and just stared at the elf in front of him.
Glorfindel’s eye were alight with love and passion. The note had been
very real. Erestor swallowed and tried to think of something to say.
“I love you.” He blurted out before blushing deeply. Glorfindel stepped
forward and wrapped his arms around the slightly shorter elf.
“Oh, Erestor.” He whispered. “I love you too.”
They gazed at each other a second more before their lips met. Lightly at
first before a floodgate of passion was released. A tongue nudged against
teeth and they both groaned as the kiss deepened. They grasped at each
other, lips pressed together and tongues wrapping around each other’s.
They each tired to pour the love they felt for each other into the kiss.
Trying to make up for time wasted in the past.
They stumbled back into Glorfindel’s room ,slamming the door shut.
Tripping over something, they tumbled onto the floor never breaking
contact. Hands and lips roamed freely. Clothes were torn as desires kept
hidden for years were finally expressed. Heated flesh was exposed,
touched, tasted until finally Erestor arched up against Glorfindel and cried
out in ecstasy. Glorfindel’s shout followed a few seconds later. He
collapsed on top of Erestor, holding him close. They lay there for long
moments sharing soft kisses and whispered words of love. Eventually,
they moved to the bed before curling up together and falling asleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Unnoticed by either of them, a dark figure stood outside the door with a
smile on his face. Another figure crept out of the shadows, stopping
behind the taller one and wrapped his arms around him. The blond one
pressed close and began to nibble on Elrond’s ear, causing him to shiver.
“I do believe you owe me a forfeit.” Legolas whispered.
“I can’t believe I actually listened to you. I never would have seen it.”
Elrond whispered in reply. Legolas lowered his hands to Elrond’s waist,
pulling him closer.
“Come back to bed, love. I know exactly how you can replay me.” Elrond
turned in Legolas’s embrace and kissed him deeply.
“Very well, but we tell them the truth tomorrow.” Soft laughter echoed
down the corridor as the two lovers made their way back to Elrond’s
rooms.
