Distracting a warrior.

Erestor spied Glorfindel on the training grounds with the twins. He had a message to pass to Glorfindel, and since it was such a fine day he thought to deliver it himself and sample the sun. He quirked his brow at the odd scene he was approaching, Glorfindel was aiming at one of the targets set a fare few yards away, amongst the trees. That in itself was not odd, it was what the twins were up to that made him raise a brow with curiosity.

Both Elladan and Elrohir were acting most oddly. It seemed as if they were trying their mightiest to distract the renown warrior, and with little success. They tried yelling and sneaking up on the un-flinching blond, they tried wrapping their arms around his waist; letting their hands wander as they pressed their bodies suggestively into the blond’s side; whispering apparently amusing words into the Captains ear, as Glorfindel simply chuckled at the twins pointless attempts of distraction. And still Glorfindel hit the dead centre of his target.

“What prey tell, are you boys up to now?” Erestor asked with a brow raised.

Both young warrior’s in training turned and smiled at their tutor of old, and good friend.

“We are trying to take Glorfindel down a peg!” Elrohir began, rolling his as yet another of Glorfindel’s arrows hit the centre of its target in the distance.

“Aye, he thinks to highly of himself, and we are trying to prove to him that he is no more mighty than us mere lower elves here, and can be distracted and miss a target occasionally like the rest of us!” Elladan continued.

This time it was Glorfindel who rolled his eyes at the unfair judgment that was passed over him.

“I am sure Glorfindel does not view himself so boys.”
“Indeed I do not, ‘tis pure jealousy on their behalves,” another of his arrows flew and found its target effortlessly.

Both boys groaned loudly in annoyance and sat down with a thump beneath a tree where all their supplies lay. Erestor chuckled, and decided that perhaps Glorfindel’s grin was perhaps a little too self-assured.

“I mean of course Glorfindel can be distracted, as easily as you or I.” Erestor said with a shrug; knowingly baiting Glorfindel.

“Well I would not go that far councilor, I am Seneschal after all,” the warrior answered with a playful air of arrogance.

“Oh really? Take aim Captain.” Erestor ordered, and came to stand incredible close to the warrior, yet not so close as to be touching. He grinned noticing Glorfindel swallow hard; his hand that held his bow quivering slightly. The twins sat forwards, watching intently, yet were not close enough to see what transpired between the two elder elves.

“Ready?” Erestor whispered.

“When you are.” Glorfindel replied steadfastly.

“Fire at will,” the advisor whispered.

He watched as Glorfindel drew his arrow back farther; straining the bow. And just as the warrior was about to release, he leaned forwards, and ever so softly, blew into the blond’s ear.

Several things happened. Glorfindel had shuddered, closed his eyes and lost aim. He had let his arrow fly before intended, and the arrow had gone astray. Not only did it not hit the centre of the target along with the other protruding arrows, but it had missed the target completely. It jutted out from the ground, only a few yards from where they stood.

The twins had leaped forth, mouths open in shock. When their initial shock wore off they hooted and hollered, laughing hard at the surprisingly poor shot. Glorfindel had blushed and closed his eyes at the momentary lapse of control; an embarrassed smile upon his lips, and a satisfied one upon Erestor’s.

Erestor had not moved away from the warrior, so when Glorfindel turned to him; cheeks flushed with embarrassment, he grinned, and took advantage of the twins distraction, for they were at the moment studying the stray arrow. And he smiled a secret smile, one he only graced Glorfindel with.

“Unfair,” the warrior whispered.

Erestor chuckled, and gently brushed the flush cheek with the back of his fingers, as he slipped the document he had come to deliver into Glorfindel’s hand. He then turned with a wink, heading back to his office with a smug grin, one of complete self-satisfaction, one that rivalled Glorfindel’s usual smug countenance. Oh how easy it was to distract the warrior.

End.
