is a total A.U. I do not own any of the characters if you know their names from
the LOTR cast. This is set around the time of the medieval ages, just a bit
after them.
name will be changed a lot, mostly to either Paris or William (yes, I am
unoriginal, what can I say? ;)) and he’s a bit younger than he actually is in
this. I’m thinking about sixteen seventeen-ish but he looks roughly the same.
There is going to be slash very soon in this and it isn’t going to be a super
long fic (I hope). I you are offended by either slash or my sad attempt at
religion, please don’t read this… oh poo I’ll just outright say it, if you’re
offended by slash you’re on the wrong site! Heehee, just joking. So on with the
story.

“Oh please, in the name of God’s good glory, please open the
gate!” He could hear a lock click and the doors opened, allowing an old,
withered looking nun to appear through the rain.
“My dear boy, what has happened to you?” she exclaimed,
taking in his bloodied and decrepit appearance.
“Please, I need sanctuary! Please!” The woman nodded and
took him by the shoulders, helping him through the gate and across the plaza.
“Thank you, Mother,” he whispered softly.
“Do not speak child. We shall get you cleaned and bandaged
and you’ll be as good as new.” She pushed a small door open and led him into
the small bedroom. She laid him down on the soft bed and placed a cool hand
over his forehead. “What is your name, child?” she asked gently. He opened his
mouth to speak but shut it again. After a pause, he answered.
“My name is

more!”
“You only wish me to stop running so I will not catch you

her face, yet her eyes twinkled.
“My boy, this is no way for a young man to be behaving!” she
scolded, trying to impersonate the Reverent Mother.

“But I am not afraid of her, Liv! I am the mighty

Get cleaned up and pray that Sister Eliza does not find out that you have been

linked an arm through hers and began to lead her back to the church. “One year
ago, when you came to us, I never once asked how you came to be here and in
such a state as you were in.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> We took you in and you have been all that we
could ask for, yet this behavior… teasing the young ones like you do…
distracting young Liv when you know that she must be ready to join to the Sisterhood
in less than a month… I am not sure what we have done to receive these actions
of yours.”
“Reverent Mother, I do not know…”
“Please, while it is just us, use my name. I am sure God
will think no less of you.”
“Very well. Miranda, I am not sure how to answer you. You
have done nothing to warrant this when all you have been is kind to me. I ask
your forgiveness and should I be excused, I shall go wash and ask the same of
the Lord, then go to the market and retrieve what you require.” Miranda smiled
gently and placed a soft kiss on his forehead.
“You are forgiven. Now go do what you say, and do not forget
the fish this time!” she called after
as he ran to his room.

strolled through the market, occasionally leaning down to inspect the ripeness
of a vegetable or the tenderness of a piece of meat. When he had bought almost
all that he was asked to purchase, he headed over to a shop lined with strings
covered in clay beads. He looked down at the gold coins in his hand. He set
aside two coins to buy the fish that Miranda had told him they desperately
required (although he did not understand why they would need fish so
desperately) and picked up three strings of beads. “How much for these?” he asked.
The shopkeeper, an old woman with laugh lines in the corners of her eyes
smiled.
“A silver coin each,” she replied softly.
her eyes widened. It was about twice as much as he owed her. He tucked the
beads safely in the pocket of his loose white shirt and was about to run off to
the docks for a fresh cut of salmon when a call was taken up amidst the crowd.
“Make way! Make way for the Royal Guard!”
behind one of the stalls. He hid there until the guards had left and he took
off, back to the convent, forgetting the fish once again.

burst through the plaza and knocked furiously on Miranda’s bedroom door. She
opened it slowly and looked at him questioningly. His cheeks were flushed and
his breathing was harsh from the long run and his knees were shaking. “Reverent
Mother, I have what you asked, and news. Royal Guards make their way through
the town. They were headed this way.”
“This I know,
for they have already arrived. I have sent Sister Eliza to make sure they are
taken care of I would like to ask the same of you.”
to leave his goods in the kitchen cellar, he heard Miranda call out, “Did you
remember the fish?”
sighed and stomped his foot, realizing that he had indeed forgotten it again
and took off in a jog. Miranda laughed and shook her head.

A.N.: So,
how was that? I swear I’m going to put up the next chapter today, I swear.
Also, I claim no knowledge on how the church actually works, let alone in that
time. Any information I have is off of The Sound of Music and even that isn’t
at the same time this is. I’m sorry! *sobs* But how do you like? And yes, yes
and you will see why he changed his name… soon… *shifty eyes*. Leave a review
please? Thankies! *huggles*
