Light Shaded Dream
Principle Characters: Orlando, Liv, Viggo
Warnings: AU, het, m/f, SL, V, SS
Rated: R
Genres: Sci-fi, drama
Synopsis: In this story, the movies weren't made, but the books do exist. Long ago, humans were Elf-like, but the human genes soon took over the dominant genes of the elf; thus, the ending of the mysterious, long-living beings. Since the beginning of the 20th Century, scientists of a secretive World Government finds the genetic code with their advanced technologies, but they need more test subjects to successfully create an Elf. In 1999, Orlando disappeared and is taken to their facility somewhere in the artic; along with 40 other people, and only three survived after the five years of testing. The World Government is looking for him and the other two who escaped the facility because they don't want the world to know of what they've done - kidnapping innocent people and subjecting them to painful experiments which killed almost all of them, and among other things.
(Very short start, but to only see if anyone likes it. Also, the chapters will be longer than the prologue anyway. Enjoy.)
- Prologue -
Winter, 1999
He looked at the smooth counter-top as his index finger traced the stained circle from a glass while the older man sitting beside him at the bar continued speaking to him.
Orlando Bloom didn’t drink enough of the liquor to not understand what was being said, but right then, he wished he did. He sighed, and briefly glanced to the man on the other side of him. This one, compared to the one who was talking, was built like a brawler, around his forties, bald, and rarely spoke, but when he did, he spoke with a Russian accent. His name was Adrik.
The other one was named Jason. He was around the same age as Adrik, but tall and thin, and had a Southern American accent. He looked like a rich, snob with his black hair combed back, and wore a business suit like the Russian did.
Orlando looked back when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
“Mr. Bloom,” said Jason, “I was asked to find you to explain about a breakthrough in the medical field of a new technique to finally relieve your back problems from your accident a year ago.”
As Jason went on speaking to him, Orlando suddenly felt sick to his stomach after consuming more of the alcohol, and closed his eyes when the spell of dizziness started. Great, two shots of the liquor, and he already had the side effects. He was sweating as his body started to overheat, and everything moved up and down when he sluggishly tried to stand up from the barstool.
“I’m leaving…” Orlando murmured sickly, or something along the lines there.
Jason glanced up at the bar tender, who wasn’t paying any attention, and then looked over to Adrik to nod a go-ahead. Adrik grabbed Orlando’s arm when he stood to capture the staggering young man, and wrapped his strong forearm around his neck to hold him up in an almost painful way.
“Don’t kill him, Adrik,” said Jason, “They need him for what he’s worth.” He smiled, leaving an extra tip for the tender. “Let’s get him out of here.”
Adrik nodded and dragged Orlando out of the bar to the alley where a van was parked. After he secured him in a gurney at the back of the vehicle and closed the door, he looked at Jason.
“Do you think the bar tender will keep his mouth shut?” questioned Adrik.
“Of course not,” he simply replied, “Kill him.”
Adrik smiled graciously and went back inside. Jason went up to sit in the passenger seat of the van and waited for a few minutes for his assistant to return.
Orlando moaned, struggling against his restraints, and quickly stopped. Jason heard him and twisted around in his seat to get a easier view.
“You should keep your strength you have left and rest since it’s going to be a long trip,” He explained, watching as Orlando groggily gazed up at him before he returned his blank stare up at the roof of the van as he slowly blacked out into a dreamless sleep.
“We won’t take any shit from you along the way, but since the higher-uppers of this project wants you and the others alive and well…your life will be spared.”
Jason then added, “But that doesn’t mean we can’t hurt you if you try to escape.”
