The days were getting shorter. An ever-present rustle of leaves summoned the coming of brisk wind and gentle rain. There was a brittle crunch beneath the delicate footfalls of the elves that inhabited the land around Rivendell, summoning the approaching winter. It was always a quiet, reflective time for her kind. She looked forward to the icy chill that brought a glow to the faces of those who visited.
Valawen's hair swept around her face as she tended to the garden outside her rooms. Her eyes flickered up to the gold and red leaves that shook in the late afternoon breeze. It saddened her somewhat, to see the trees mourn so. She knew it would not last, though. There was always warmth after the darkness.
Taking a deep breath of the crisp air, she plucked the last of the roses from her garden. Pink petals littered the dirt and pathways, providing a soft glow to the otherwise dull ground. She watched as the wind picked up the petals and ferried them down the path, making them dance in the cool air like butterflies on evening dusk. It made her smile.
"Valawen." She turned at the sound of her name. "Teli nedh."
(Come inside.)
Her smile widened as she turned back to her plants. "Teli ednef, Elrond. I aduial on bain."
(Come outside, Elrond. The evening is beautiful.)
She heard him sigh and step down from the stairs he had stood upon. "I gwilith on helch. Ennas on naur nedh." He stopped behind her and looked over her shoulder to the flowers she held in her grasp. "A laug haust."
(The air is cold. There is a fire inside. And (a) warm bed.)
Valawen grinned and turned to him, her eyes twinkling in mischief. "Im caral iest an odh."
(I do not wish for rest.)
With a faint smile upon his lips, he took the flowers from her and raised an eyebrow. "Maer," he replied, turning and heading back to the house, "An le innas algaro ha."
(Good, for you will not have it.)
He disappeared into the apartment. Biting her lip and holding back a smile of her own, she followed him inside.
The room was warm. Closing the door to the cold, Valawen removed her shoes and cloak, then joined Elrond on the sofabench in front of the bright fire. He handed her a cup of tea as she seated herself, gazing at the orange flames that caused her mind to cloud in warmth. She could feel the heat of the beverage seep into her skin.
"Garo le nauth o man im pedo?"
(Have you thought about what I spoke of (speak of)?)
Elrond's voice was smooth and lulling, but the question cleared her mind. Taking a sip of her tea, she thought carefully about her response. "Im garo nauth o albach athan."
(I have thought of nothing beyond.)
"Garo le teli an a baudh?" His own eyes held a high note of interest.
(Have you come to (a) judgement?)
Swallowing the last of her drink, she set the cup down on the table in front of her and looked at Elrond with a steady, unreadable expression. "Im garo."
(I have.)
His dark blue eyes lowered to her hands. "Man on i dambeth?"
(What is the answer?)
"Im innas." Elrond looked up at her, meeting her eyes with an intense seriousness. Her face broke into a smile when he did not respond. "On ha ali dambeth le iest an?"
(I will. Is it not the answer you wish for?)
Instead of responding, he moved forward and pressed his lips softly against hers. Valawen closed her eyes, feeling the relief and happiness expressed in his kiss. "Ha on," he breathed, moving back and touching her face. When she opened her eyes he smiled. "Melethon le."
(It is. I love you.)
"Melethon le," she replied, brushing a stray hair behind his ear. Sighing heavily, she welcomed him into her embrace when he leaned forward once again, capturing her mouth in a more insistent kiss.
His tongue darted against hers, spurring her into a soft whimper. Warm fingers encouraged the kiss to go deeper. He tasted sweet, like wine and berries. It was so easy to fall in love with him.
"Elrond," she breathed, pulling back and tasting her lips, "Innas le noss henio?" Concern flitted across her expression.
(Elrond, will your family understand?)
He took her hand, squeezing it gently. "Caral presto le nauth," he replied sincerely, "Elrohir a Elladan mor le, fael sui carim. Arwen a Aragorn innas mol le sui mae. Estel nin."
(Do not trouble your thoughts. Elrohir and Elladan treasure you, just like I do. Arwen and Aragorn will love you as well. Trust me.)
"Innas le canbo ti an min erthad?" she asked.
(Will you call on them for our union?)
Elrond nodded, saying, "Ned i aur im innas tagol tiw." His eyes sparkled as he traced the soft skin of her hands. "Si, leithian le avad an no meren. Im innas garo le band gwann egor innas dant an ha anim."
(In the morning I will send (a) letter. Now, release your reluctance to be joyous. I will have your duress departed or fall to it myself.)
Valawen blushed. "Dihena nin." Taking a deep breath, she touched his face and smirked, feeling somewhat silly for worrying. "Nin gell on tofn."
(Forgive me. My joy is deep.)
"Mithanin." The words were a breath upon his lips. Closing her eyes, Valawen leaned forward and pressed her mouth against his. His reply was quick and hungry, the moisture of his mouth meshing with hers in a tantalizing gesture.
(Kiss me.)
Letting go of any questions still lingering in her mind, she surrendered herself to the growing urges within. In their short time together, Valawen had learned to trust what Elrond made her feel. He was wise and caring, and she cherished what she had with him. There was no reluctance in her mind. She wanted to give herself to him fully.
His hands cupped her face as they kissed. Valawen gasped in a breath in a brief moment of separation, then proceeded to squeeze his thigh meaningfully. Now that they were to be married, she had no qualms about becoming intimate with him.
"Haust," she whispered as he took to kissing her jawline. He murmured something but did not stop his descent to her collarbone. Pressing her hands to his shoulders, she pushed him back and repeated what she said when he looked up. "Haust."
(Bed.)
He looked as though he would question her, but the uncertainty was quickly replaced by the same need she knew her own eyes conveyed. Taking her by the hand, Elrond stood up and led her to his room.
The light from the fire reached after them like dancing fingertips. A silver gleam from the moon outside the window illuminated the dark room as she closed the door, hiding the gold and heat. Pulling her forward, Elrond swept her up into his arms and laid her down on the bed. She couldn't help but grin.
"Ennas," he said, sitting beside her and brushing her hair off her shoulder, "Sen on i nof im meleth."
(There. This is the face I love.)
The tip of his finger traced down her cheek. Sitting up, she looked deeply into his eyes and gathered the hem of his tunic in her hands. In one slow motion, she pulled it over his head and threw it to the floor. His skin glowed in the lune's rays.
He bent forward, capturing her mouth in a blissful kiss. Valawen fell back to the bed, wrapping her arms around him as he lowered over her. Her foot stroked his leg deliberately as his hands worked at the ties at the front of her dress. His kiss became distracted as he pull the strings from their holes, loosening the gown. With a sharp breath, he parted from her lips and sat up, edging the garment down her shoulders.
Valawen pulled her hips up, allowing him to the slide the dress from her body. He took his patience doing it, revealing her flesh to him in a gradual, teasing way. She blushed gently as he took obvious appreciation in her, his dark eyes following the descent of the gown without diversion.
The slip of material at her hips was all that obscured her nudity from him. Elrond sank his fingers in the band and pulled it from her hips. She shifted her feet nervously as he dropped the undergarment to the floor and took in her form.
His eyes flickered up to hers before he stood and disrobed. Valawen took a deep breath and smiled as he, now nude, laid down on the bed beside her. She laughed quietly as his warm hand tickled up her side. He pressed his mouth to hers, stifling her laugh and urging her into better feelings.
She moaned softly into his mouth as he squeezed a breast. His kisses moved lower and Valawen arched back as he bit at the sensitive flesh of her neck. Elrond moved more over top of her as he touched his lips down her body. She whimpered weakly as he sucked on the peak of her breast, massaging the other with his hand. Wrapping a leg around him pressed him into biting her gently.
With a seductive grin, he looked up and pushed his leg between hers, encouraging her to part them. She did so willingly and instinctively rolled her hips upwards as he positioned himself. Keeping eye contact, Elrond delicately inserted himself in her body. He moved forward and Vairë fought hard to keep her eyes open. As he went deeper, though, the feelings overwhelmed her and she shut her eyes tight and squeezed her legs against him.
He immediately began a teasingly slow pace. Valawen's eyes fluttered open and Elrond took the opportunity to attack her lips, dipping his tongue into her mouth and sucking with a new fervor. She cried out as he jerked roughly into her, inciting the pleasurable sensations to grow faster. His own groans were swallowed by her searching mouth.
Encircling her arms around him, Vairë pulled from his lips and sucked in a breath, rolling her head back as his thrusts threatened to consume her. His skin was moist against hers as he worked towards their end. She ran her fingers through his hair as he lowered his mouth to the crook of her neck and kissed her strongly, marking her pale flesh. "Elrond," she breathed as the tension grew within her abdomen. Her weak call caused him to respond with a quick jerk upwards, sliding deep into her body. Valawen gasped and, after another several thrusts, quickly met her release, shuddering beneath him.
Her voice spurred him into completing his own pleasure. As she continued to writhe under him, he rolled heavily into her and soon met his end, spilling into her body.
Rough breathing filled the quiet of the room as Valawen let her arms fall from his slick back. A sudden feeling of contentment fell over her as they rested. "Mmmmmmmm...," she hummed as he pushed himself up and, with a smile, rolled over to her side. "Hwiniol."
(Fantastic.)
Elrond laughed and pulled a thin sheet over their cooling bodies. "Post, meleth. Ah i anorerio teli ovor mudas."
(Rest, love. With the sunrise comes abundant labour.)
Valawen groaned and snaked an arm around his waist. Even with the promise of work and planning in the morning, she fell asleep with a smile upon her face.
