Chapter 1 WITHOUT LOOKING BACK

~*~*~
Sierra and Keira walked out of class with a huge smile on their faces. It was the last day of school, with only two classes to go. They were to graduate in three days. The twins were going over to Europe for the summer then starting Oxford in the fall.

Their only remaining family was their uncle Sean. He was their mother’s only sibling. Sean and Kayla were adopted when they were only toddlers. Sean was exactly 13 months older then Kayla. Both their parents were killed in a plane crash just after Sean turned two years of age.

Both girls loved Sean a great deal but he was so stuffy and proper some times that they could not help but laugh at him. They would tell him that he needed to come and live in the United States for a while so that he would loosen up a bit. But then they both knew that *that* would never happen. Sean was raised in a very British aristocratic family.

While their mother Kayla was raised in a modest American family. Adam was in the air force and was stationed in London when Samantha found their mother and took her into their home. Their mother and uncle were separated for most of their childhood. Only reuniting when Kayla moved over to London after she had finished school.

After a while Kayla would leave for weeks and sometimes months at a time. Sean never knew where she would disappear to and never really asked her. But one day she returned and was very upset. She was in some sort of shock. She had been babbling about someone named Sauron and a golden ring.

Kayla then told him that her husband died in battle. At first Sean thought that she had been on drugs and was on a bad trip. She had told him that her husband was not human but an elf. Sean would laugh and tell her that she was crazy and go on about his daily life. That was until the day that the twins were born. At first they seamed very normal girls but then he got a good look at them, and noted that they both had pointed ears.

Kayla had told them over the years that it was a birth defect, but as they started getting older she told them the truth about everything. She would never tell them how to get back to where their father had lived. Only that he was gone and there was no use in ever going back to that awful place.

After a while they gave up asking, but never forgot that somewhere they may still have family waiting for them to come home. They were hoping that Sean might know how they could find a way back to the place their father had lived.

“You know if uncle Sean knows anything he may never tell us.” Sighed Keira, putting the last of her books in her locker.

“We will just have to convince him other wise.” Sierra said, smiling brightly at her sister. “Beside Sean has never been able to deny us anything.”

“Yeah sis but this is a bit different.”

“Keira we will find a way back. Mom found it and we will too.” Sierra sighed and pulled her sister by her arm to their next class.

They were not in the same room this time. Instead, they were across the hall from each other. Sierra was getting worried about Keira. Keira missed their mother so much. She had died six months ago. Keira was still having a hard time dealing with the pain, and longing of their mothers passing.

Sierra had always been the strong one, the one that always looked after Keira. Keira was always the sensible one, keeping them both out of trouble. Sierra had a bad temper, and Keira hardly ever lost her temper with anyone or anything. Kayla had told the girls that Sierra had taken her temper after her and Keira had taken after her father.

Sierra knew that Keira needed to find something to take her mind off the death of their mother. Finding a way back to middle earth was the perfect way to do that. Hopefully they would find their fathers family, and a place where they could live with out being looked at like they were freaks.

With out having to keep their ears hidden so that they would not get ridiculed. God knows there was no place like that anywhere that they had ever lived. People tended to make fun of things that they cannot under stand and their pointed ears definitely cornered the market on that one.

Later that evening Keira called their uncle Sean while Sierra was in the pool with some of their school friends. The girls had found a way to make prosthetic earpieces. But they were allc toc to them and only wore them when they could not hide their ears any other way.

Keira smiled at the antics of their playing and splashing around. She loved to see Sierra with a smile on her face. Sierra was always trying to protect her and that infuriated her to no end. Keira was not a weakling. She knew Sierra meant well, with all her mothering. Most of the time she would say nothing about it, but for the last few days Sierra was playing the mother hen thing way too much.

When the operator finely got the line connected to England it was only a matter of minutes until she was ringing Sean’s line.

“Hello?”

“Uncle Sean its Keira. How are you doing?” She said sitting back down on the sofa near the window.

“I was wondering when you would ring me love. What are you up to?”

“Waiting very impatiently. I am ready to board that plane and get on out there.” She sighed leaning back agents the cushions trying to relax.

“You only have a few days left love.” Sean replied smiling.

“I know. I just hate the wait.” She chucked softly. “I want to get it over with so I can get on with the rest of my life.”

“The rest of your life? You sound as if you are planning the rest of your life out as we speak!” Keira knew that Sean was concerned by the tone of his voice.

“Well tell me that you were not ready to get out of school, and start living with out the books and teachers telling you what you can and can’t do!”

“Your right love I was more then ready for that. But is that all you have on your mind?”

“Did mom ever tell you where she meet our father?”
Sean was silent for a long time before answering. At first she thought that he was not going to answer, but then at last he did.

“Your mother once told me how to get there. But that was a long time ago. You are planning on going to see this place that your mother told you of are you not?”

“Yes we are.” Keira replied with a smile.

“Well your mother sent me a letter a year or so ago with instructions for me not to give it to you two until after you finished high school.”

“Well, do you know what is in the letter?” Keira said excitedly. She had jumped to her feet and was waving at Sierra to get her attention.

“All she would tell me was that it was about your father and how to get to his world. Did your mother every tell you much about him?”

“Well only what he looked like and that they loved each other very much. And how they had meet.”

“Did she ever tell you that your father was some sort of a prince?”

“ What!!!! Yelled Keira. Which in turn got Sierra’s attention. She frowned and made her into the house to see what was the matter.

“Yes she once told me that he was a crowned prince.”

“Oh my god! Please tell me that you are kidding!!!!!” Keira said, as she was trying to regain her self-control. Just at that moment Sierra came into the room.

“Sea Uncle Sean has a letter from Mom. He said that it tells how to get to middle earth. And he told me that dad was a crown prince.”

“A what?” Sierra said dumb founded.

“That means we are some sort of Princess’s in his world.” Keira whispered awestruck.

{AN} Well there is the first chapter, so tell me what you think!!!!!
