Disclaimer: Well, obviously they belong to Tolkien/ Tolkiens Estate as I am not original enough for my own characters (else I would be writing/publishing novels by now) so I use those belog tog to other people. Don’t own, don’t profit and don’t have permission to play with – but I’m a rebel and can’t control myself.

Summary: Erestor goes on a treasure hunt.

Treasure Hunt
Erestor finger combed his hair as he padded softly from his bathing chamber into his sitting room, inelegantly yawning has he passed the chest at the end of his bed. Clothed for a comfortable evening of rest in a loose fitting tunic and soft leggings he lifted the unlit oil lamp from the chest and set it down on a round side table as he reached the large arm chair beside the balcony doors. Running his right hand through his hair once more he let the ends trickle smoothly through his fingers before moving his hand to the back of his neck. Leaning forward he rested his left hand on the arm of the chair and rubbed the stiffness from the nape of his neck with his right. Sighing contentedly as the strain lessened he pivoted slowly to the left and dropped leisurely into the well padded chair. Legs stretched out before him he tilted his head back against the chair and closed his eyes, enjoying the lazy position for several long moments.
Opening his eyes he stared at the ceiling, idly following the mindless swirls and loops of long ago hardened plaster. Rolling his shoulders back until he felt his shoulder blades shift at his back the dark haired elf dragged himself up into a sitting position, deciding that since he was not exactly tired yet he would continue to read the book on human customs that he had started last night.
Lifting a leg he curled it under his body and turned to pick up the book laying on the adjacent table, only to find a crisply fold piece of white parchment sitting innocently atop his book.
His curiosity piqued, something he readily admitted was one of his weaknesses; he daintily picked up the small square of paper and unfolded it, raising his eyebrows at the message scrawled within.

1) You will find me amidst many shiny and well polished items.
Erestor re-read the note pursing his lips in concentration. The clue itself was easy enough to solve, what he was trying to place was the handwriting of the letter itself, finally forced to give up as he was unfamiliar with the style.
Feeling the familiar little thrill of anticipation of solving a new mystery or puzzle Erestor glance once more at his untouched book and quickly stood up, heading towards the door. Pausing he shuffled into his sandals before lifting the hair from the back of his neck and letting is fall gently back against his shoulders and back. Opening the door he moved out into the corridor, absentmindedly noting that there was still at least a full hour of light left in the day. With the small piece of parchment clutched in his hand he moved down the hallway.
‘Many shiny and well polished items’?!
The armory no doubt. A soft smile quirking the edges of his lips upwards Erestor made his way towards the armory, and presumable the first item and second clue.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Erestor entered the armory, leaving the door ajar to let more light in, the grimy little windows in the back not giving him much to see with. Apparently he would need to arrange to have the windows cleaned, which would mean reorganizing the swords and shields so someone could actually access the glass… and where was his next clue?
Scanning the room his eyes fell on a medium sized basket, with a small piece of paper tied neatly to the handle. Feeling his anticipation rise he reached out and snatched the basket from the pile of leather braces and smaller shoulder shields. Exiting the shed Erestor closed the wooden door behind him, deciding that along with the window cleaning the wooden door would need to be replaced as well as it was becoming warped from one to many seasons in the elements.
Carefully untying the thin piece of green ribbon he pulled sligslightly crumpled parchment free and unfolded it.
2) I will be found beside one who dances constantly and is always bright and merry.
Remember to take the basket with you.
Picking up the basket Erestor placed both the first note and the second into the darkly weaved wicker container and moved towards his next destination.
Bright, merry, constant dancer… the Hall of Fire was next.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Entering the Hall of Fire Erestor noticed it was mostly deserted, with only a few lingering elves scattered about, involved in either chatting or silently enjoying a sweet intimate moment.
Feeling a little silly sneaking into the quiet Hall with an almost empty wicker basket clutched in one hand Erestor slipped silently up to the large circle of stones that rose out of the ground, lovingly embracing the orange and yellow flickering flames. Attempting to remain inconspicuous as he circled the crackling flame he almost stepped on his next treasure and clue without realizing is.
Crouching down Erestor inspected the bowl filled with assorted berries, and plucked the note from where it rested between two plump strawberries.
3) We are located where it’s cool, damp and dark.
Smirking Erestor placed the note with the other two and settled the bowl of berries in the basket. So it was to the cellar was it? Then to the cellar he would go.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Erestor entered the dark underground storage room, the basket looped over one arm and a lit candle in the other. Inhaling deeply he sighed happily at the smell of aged wood and slight dampness that always lingered in the cellar and invaded his senses.
This time he located his treasure almost immediately, the glaring white of the folded parchment leaning against a dark colored bottle drawing his attention. Picking up the note he unfolded it quickly, finding this new game of treasure hunting rather enjoyable.
4) You will find me where it is warm, wet and steamy.
Remember to take both the bottle of wine and the pitcher of cream.
An eyebrow quirked up at the instructions listed at the bottom of the note. Interesting. A bowl of berries, pitcher of cream and a bottle of wine. His curiosity rising higher the elf placed both newly acquired items side by side in the basket and exited the cellar, closing the heavy door behind him with a quiet thud. ‘Warm, wet and steamy.’ Apparently the baths were his next stop.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Upon entering the public bathing area Erestor felt the fine sheen of mist that constantly hung in the air, quickly clinging to his skin and dampen his shirt. Looking around Erestor felt his heart sink at not finding another note or treasure. He had been so certain that this was where the clue had been pointing him. Allowing himself a slower perusal of the room the dark haired elf sighed dejectedly and turned to leave the bathing room, dipping his hand into the basket to retrieve the note with the intention of re-reading it and discovering where exactly the next clue was pointing. He stopped short as he spotted a folder piece of paper lying innocently on a wooden chair by the door.
Feeling an inordinate amount of relief at discovering he was correct Erestor picked up the note, along with the small vial of oil beside it.
5) I am warm and comfortable, amongst many soft and fluffy items.
Putting the oil in the basket Erestor smiled as he left the bath and set a brisk pace down the hall to his next and last destination.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Erestor eased open the door and stood silently watching the occupant of the room.
“Did you enjoy your little hunt?”
“Yes.”
“And your treasures, did you enjoy finding them?”
“Yes.”
“Did you want to combine all your findings together?”
“Yes.”
“Do you wme tme to help you?”
“Yes.”
“Then come kiss me.”
Erestor gave a soft laugh combined with an indulgent look as he padded slowly across the room to stop at the edge of the bed, noting Glorfindel did indeed appear to be warm and comfortable amongst many soft and fluffy items. “You just can’t stop yourself from finding new ways to seduce me, can you Glorfindel?”
“Now where would the fun be if I stopped being creative. Admit it, you enjoy my efforts.”
“Oh I do indeed.”
Anything else Glorfindel planned to say was drowned out by a sweet set of lips upon his own.
The End.
