~Chapter one: Yes father~

Thranduil still didn’t know how it had come to be that the friendship between him and the Imladris lord had fade but he knew he wanted to have it back; Rivendell was a useful ally and he always found good advice with Elrond.

He called for his three children; Narulas, Legolas and Fánelas, he was going to send one of them to Rivendell, as a gift of peace, to wed the lord and support him.

Thranduil did not need very long to decide who was going when he regarded his three sons;

Fánelas was the oldest of Thranduil’s sons, a beautiful elf, his hair a silvery colour, like his father’s and his eyes were green seemingly blessed with small white stripes running through the green. He looked like he came right from the Valar, as if they created him to be perfect. Although that of course would satisfy the Elandili, their interests were completely different, they had nothing in common, they’d only manage to annoy one another, which wouldn’t lead to much good.

Then you had Narulas; he had his mother’s hair colour, a deep auburn…not red, not brown, but in between, his eyes were a soft shade of grey. He looked good, the interests were the same…The only problem was that Narulas had a thing against the Elandili lord, he believed the half-elf had no right to rule over true elves, so marrying him off to Elrond wouldn’t be smart either.

His eyes finally fell on Legolas, who stared at him in curiosity and wonder, wanting to know why they were summoned here.

‘Yes,’ Thranduil thought, ‘He’d do just great’ His youngest son was a sight to behold, his eyes had a bright blue colour, making them clearly stand out, one could drown into them if they looked at his eyes for over a second. That, combined with his golden coloured, shiny hair made him absolutely gorgeous.

Thranduil knew this very well and was proud, proud to have three beautiful children, all worthy heirs of the throne.

He knew that Legolas would be a great deal for Elrond, the mature, but still young elf had a natural innocence about him that could just make everyone swoon, but that innocence was also reflected in his character; he was insecure and shy and truly believed that everyone was a good person, he didn’t believe someone was only mean, he was convinced everyone had a bit of good in them, if someone was mean he believed that there was a good reason for it. Above that he was an eager learner, he also liked to help others and read or listen to stories, which he knew Elrond liked to tell.

Yes, his choice was made, Legolas would go to Rivendell to be wedded to Elrond. Bidding Narulas and Fánelas to go he looked at Legolas who seemed somewhat scared; afraid he had done something wrong.

Thranduil smiled at his son and said, “Do not fear me Legolas, you’ve done nothing wrong.” He smiled as he saw Legolas sigh in obvious relieve. He then spoke again, “I do however have a favour to ask of you my child. You know how the relation between Rivendell and Mirkwood is faltering? That the peace is threatened to be broken?”

Legolas nodded, not understanding where the conversation was going.

Thranduil looked at him and said, “You can help in ensuring peace, I want you to wed lord Elrond, will you do that for me?”

Legolas wasn’t that happy with the idea of being parted from his family, but he knew that they could visit one another, he wasn’t that worried about having to marry lord Elrond; it was a kind person and, for his age, still very attractive, or so Legolas thought. He looked at his father and nodded and said, “If that is what you want ada, I will”

Thranduil smiled contently, his emerald green eyeininining with a happiness Legolas hadn’t witnessed before…but why? Was his father that happy to see him go?

Thranduil saw the hurt in Legolas’ eyes and whispered, “I’m happy to know that you’re going to have a good husband, I am convinced he shall not hurt you in anyway. And if he does, I want you to contact me as soon as possible, if you do, I’ll get you out of that realm.”

Legolas hugged his father tightly and whispered, “Thank you ada”
---
Narulas means Red leaf
Fánelas means White leaf
Elandili means half-elf, Peredhil is used a lot I have noticed, but it means halfling, something I see more fitted with hobbits.
Ada means father

I also have heard people saying it should be the sindarin language in here, but I prefer using Quenya, because I know that better than Sindarin and since it’s the main language of all the elves I think they know that too, so I have made them use that among each other. Evil me ^_^
