The Arrival

Disclaimer: I own Temperance..and that's all. I don't own any elves or dwarves or anything else Lord of the Rings related...well except the movies and a Legolas poster..BUT THAT'S IT!!

Ch - 1 The arrival.

A dark haired girl stood looking in the mirror studying her herself. Taking in her waist length brown hair, wide eyes of an icy blue color, soft pouting lips, and pert nose. Next she looked on her body noting her petite stature, large breasts, and full hips. She had always been self-conscious about her figure; she concealed the lushness of it by wearing big clothes. Sighing she pulled on an oversized sweatshirt, put her hair into a ponytail and left her room.

"Going for my jog, mom! Be back before dinner!" She called as she ran down the stairs.

"You'd had better be, Temperance!" Her mother called. Temperance rolled her eyes as she slammed the door, slipping on her earphones she started down the street, heading for the park. She was really glad she had worn a sweatshirt for it was a chilly day in Seattle.

"I hate jogging!" she thought as she reached the park. This was the only place she had been since moving here about six months ago. The only reason she came here was to get away from her family for a while. She never really jogged, just walked and listened to her music.

"Then why are you, Temp?" she asked herself. Shrugging slowed to a walk. She really loved this place, it was wild and beautiful and the only place she found solitude. Life had become some much more complicated in the last few months. Her parents had packed up their things and moved them all to the other side of the country. In the middle of her senior years not less, so when she had graduated Temperance had known virtually no one.

Temp turned down her favorite trail, humming to the music blasting in her ear. Suddenly the music stopped. She gave a frustrated groan. She had just put new batteries in the stupid thing!

"What the?" She looked down at the display seeing that the numbers were still on the screen. She pressed the pause button, nothing happened.

"Damn it!" she swore and shook the CD player. Still it didn't work! She wasn't paying attention to where she was going so she didn't see the tree in front of her. One minute she was walking, the next she was lying flat on her back.

"Ow! Who put that tree there?" she said sitting up, and rubbing her head. Standing Temp noticed that sky was darkening. Frowning she looked down at her watch, and grasped in shock.

"That's definitely not normal!" she said looking down. The numbers read at 3:32, seconds weren’t ticking by. The watch had stopped. Her watch was digital, nothing should be on the display! Her head came up as she thought she heard a noise. Looking around she backed up, turning she readied herself to run.

Someone spoke from behind her. Temperance froze, and then turned slowly. Not far behind her was a man, dressed in clothes more suited for the middle ages than the 21st century. Tall and lean, his hair was dark like hers. As he stepped closer, she noticed the bow in his hand. She backed away frighten. He saw her actions and lowered the weapon to the ground. He continued to move forward slowly. Finally he stood before her. Temperance, having a better view of him, gasped she stepped back.

"What are you?" she asked in horror. The man was given no time to answer because the girl fainted dead away. Sighing the man picked up her prone body and started towards the city.

A/N: I know its terribly short but this is the best way to end it so just wait for the next chapter to see what happens! Small cliffhanger. Later
