Dom-esticated

It had to be the worst day he’d ever had. Having his family jewels feeling like they were in a vise-grip while sitting in a fake tree’s hand during filming of The Two Towers was a joyride compared to today. He’d gone to an audition, and been told that his acting in the LOTR trilogy had been a fluke and he did not seriously think he’d be considered for a real role. His car had broken down at a red light, and some overly large woman had plowed into the rear of it. She had gone into a road-rage, and he’d had to take refuge inside his vehicle until the police arrived and took her away in cuffs, and given him a ticket. A mechanic’s helper came to tow the car, and did not hook it up properly so that going up a hill he helplessly watched his vehicle roll back down and smash into an electrical pole. The mechanic, once his car got to the shop, had given him an estimate that ly ely equaled the price of a new car, and when he’d told him to just keep the bloody thing the mechanic had said his shop was not a junkyard, and to tow it to one would cost him. He’d had a few scenes to shoot for a movie in the afternoon, and everything that could go wrong did.

Now he was limping to the door of his home, and wincing at the stab of pain in his ankle. It wasn’t broken, but he knew he’d twisted it in that last scene. Just bloody fantastic! Throwing open the door he heard loud music. It was a hip hop type of style, and with the exhausted, no-patience-left attitude of someone who’d had a horrible day he intended to shout to his lover to turn the blasted thing down. His words froze in his throat, and his eyes widened to see Dominic dancing. He’d cleared back the coffee table to make more room, and he was now trying to imitate the booty-bouncing moves of a buxom black woman on the television. The effect, Billy realized with suse, se, was not quite as sublime as the one on the television.

“What in the name of all that’s holy are you doing?”

The sudden shout laced with a very recognizable Scottish burr made Dominic twirl, a hand to his chest where his heart raced with surprise, and his eyes wide. “Bloody hell, you scared me!” Using the remote control he turned the volume nearly all the way down, his face now suffused with a deep and dark blush. “I, umm, was watching this, and… I wondered if only black women could do that move, or if anyone… else could…”

Eyebrows and lips twitching Billy nodded slowly. “I hate to tell you this, but you weren’t very successful.”

“Gee, thanks. What’s got you in such a good mood?” His brows drew together in a dark scowl to see the Scotsman limp towards the sofa. “What happened?” Worried now he knelt before the other man and carefully lifted the leg he’d noticed his lover had been favoring.

“Ouch! Careful, I think I twisted it shooting that last scene. Dom, it was the worst day ever. I just want to curl up in bed, and not come out again.” Billy winced at the tenderly probing fingers. “It’ll be fine. I’ll keep it elevated with an ice-pack on it.”

“Yes, you will. Can you go change into some more comfortable clothes? I’ll make tea, and you can stretch it out on the sofa.” Dom hurried to the kitchen.

Billy sighed and went to their bedroom to change. He tossed his clothes into a hamper, and pulled on shorts and a tee shirt. It was so nice to be home. Hobbling to the sofa he used the small throw cushions to prop his ankle up. His gaze was caught by the nearly muted television. More scantily clad black women dancing. The more he watched them the more he also began to wonder if only they could perform some of those moves? They had their round backsides bopping and bouncing and sticking out in a way that was quite enjoyable to watch. He figured it was the same as Latin women’s hips. He didn’t think any other women could move their hips just quite the same way.

A chuckle erupted as he remembered Dom with his cute little rear sticking out and his knees bent trying to bounce only his posterior. Awkward and jerky had been the moves. Still, it had looked endearing in a way. He and Dom had been the pranksters of the cast, the fools that always had someone laughing. They did love to laugh and have fun. It was how they had bonded, what had brought them together. First had come friendship, and then love. When they had been done filming the trilogy they had purchased a house here in New Zealand, and had been living together ever since. These had been the best two years of his life, these last two with Dominic.

The man he was thinking of entered with a tray holding cups, milk, sugar, teapot, and an ice pack. Sitting at Billy’s hip he first leaned over and kissed the sore ankle before placing the pack upon it. “You look exhausted. I cancelled that dinner we were supposed to go to.”

He’d forgotten about that. “Damn. I forgot about that. Wve tve to go,” he began to argue.

Dom held up a hand and shook his head. “No. I told them you were hurt and asked if it could be rescheduled. I also told them because we felt so bad having to cancel we’d each autograph large framed photos of us as Merry and Pippin and donate them to them for charity. They hope you feel better and we’re to call them when you’re up and about again.”

“Today was horrible,” Billy stated as his partner poured tea. He now noticed the small bottle of brandy of which Dom poured a dollop into the cup of tea before handing it to him. “You’re too good to me,” he told his lover.

“Don’t forget it,” Dom grinned. “So tell me everything.” He listened while his life-partner related the whole day. Shaking his head and clucking or patting a knee in soothing comfort he was appropriately outraged when told the producer of an upcoming movie had called Billy a sorry excuse of an actor. “He could only dream of having such a wonderful actor as you. His movie will fail without you in it.”

Reaching out a hand Billy took one of Dom’s in his. How he loved the fierce protectiveness of his partner. “It won’t, but I love you for saying it.”

“It might,” Dom emphasized. “Now, I didn’t spend all day doing nothing but watching the television and dancing. I have your favourite for dinner. Are you hungry?”

“Actually I am,” nodded the Scotsman.

Dominic stood. “Good. Now you just stay here and keep that ankle up. I’ll be back.”

Billy settled in with a beaming smile on his face, again so grateful for having Dom in his life. He didn’t know if it was fate, or a higher intervention, but he certainly thanked it everyday. When he was up and about again he’d do something special for Dominic. Dinner? No, something more… personal, something that would really please Dom. Camping! Dominic had loved some of the landscape here in New Zealand where they had filmed. He had always mentioned returning to certain areas to camp for a few days. Billy had always winced and changed the subject. No longer. He would buy a tent, and give his lover this surprise.

“Ladies and gentlemen, tonight we present… Dinner and a show!”

At the formal announcement Billy turned slightly to see Dominic enter. In his hands were two plates of food, and the man did a poor excuse of a hip hop song while his adorable posterior bounced and jerked about in a very sad impersonation of the women on television. All the way to the sofa where Billy was laughing uproariously, Dominic bent to set the plates on the table, jiggling his rear before his lover’s face, and yelping at the sharp slap to one cheek. Twirling he sat quickly at the other man’s hip, and winked.

Billy’s laughter slowed, and he sat up to kiss the man’s lips. “I take back what I said earlier, you shake your booty much better than any black woman.”

“Flatterer,” Dom chuckled, glad to just rest his head on the other man’s shoulder.

“I always love coming home,” Billy admitted while stroking the softness of the other man’s hair. “I love it because I know when I come home I have you.”

“And I love coming home because when I do I have you,” Dominic replied.
