SUMMARY: Erestor and Elrohir meet in the library. This is just a nice little ficlette to hopefully get me writing again.

DISCLAIMER: Middle-Earth, the characters and inspiration belong to Tolkien. The naughty situations they find themselves ie the the fault of my over-active libido. And the 'Golden Git' is not my term of endearment but a friend's.

NOTE: Characterizations for this are based on the SOM RPG. I would like to thank Cheryl for taking the time to read this over and giving her beta suggestions.

The elf stood motionless before the bookcases.

The scents of ancient scrolls and the dust that mingled between the bindings of cracked leather filled the ancient and ornate room. The odors of age and knowledge were familiar and comforting to the elf. The soft light of the candles sparked from the holders and flickered over the cherished tomes, their light casting warmth over the cold and empty parchment cast upon the tables. Shadows leapt over the fine paper pregnant with the promise of the letters to come. Here words would be delicately and lovingly drawn on the paper, holding the described moment for all eternity. These words that would capture and pause history would be placed on these scrolls by the sure hand of this pensive elf.

This elf was the chief of Elrond's council. He had a close friendship with the great Glorfindel. elf elf was one who took his duties and loves seriously. He was loyal without rupture to that which he loved and respected. His love of these books and words equaled the love he held for his companions. Though it was the books, and seldom the people, that he treated as treasures to be worshipped greatly with unfathomable value above their worth. For expressing concern and love for an inanimate object is far less hurtful than to do so to a living body, only to be rejected and cast aside when a more glorious prospect came by.

Erestor's eyes were gazing not upon his beloved books but within himself this eve. The sun had fallen away and Tilion released hours before. Elbereth's gifts beamed with all their glory as jewels over the night sky above.

Dark hair was braided and knotted ifuncfunctional manner to keep the locks from his face as he worked. Loose, unadorned robes of a deep gray hung from his form, revealing nothing of the contour below. Cold blue eyes the colour of winter morning were clouded in thought.

Tonight Erestor's solid loyalties and cold exterior would be set afire once more.

For tonight Elrohir would beurniurning from one of his scouting missions against the Orcs. The young elf was past his majority and learning quickly the ways of Middle-earth. It was Elrond's wish his children be exposed to its hardships and joys early. He would see them know all the faces of their blood, refusing to keep them sheltered and distant, as many Elder elves would have done.

Erestor had come here from the havens by request of the Lord of Imladris. A request to a dear friend of old. Elrond had given his most beloved treasures into Erestor’s and Glorfindel's hands. They had tutored his children in thought and strength, preparing them to be sent out into the harsh world of men, one still ravaged by Sauron's shadow.

Elrond, one of Erestor's dearest friends, had trusted him with his children's safety and education. Now the elflings were grown, they were children no more. They were beautiful with strength and grace inherited from both sides of their parents and mingled races. They were every bit as great as their bloodline urged them to be.

Elrond had trusted Erestor with them, and Erestor had rewarded him by falling for his younger son. By educating him in another manner far from the stimulations of debate and theory.

Even though both he and Elrohir were of age, even though the feelings were mutual, even though it was Elrohir who had come to him, bestowing that first sloppy kiss, and even though Elrohir insisted Elrond would be happy in their happiness. Erestor felt as though he had betrayed Elrond. He insisted their love remain a secret, fearing to see the imagined hurt in Elrond’s grey gaze when he learned his trusted friend was bedding his son. Perhaps he should part from Elrohir. Let him find another more deserving and radiant to woo his heart.

Yet he had known from that first sloppy, sweet and beautiful kiss he could not willingly let Elrohir go. So now he stood in the shadows of his books. His comfort. Wondering about the vulnerability of his young and warm lover. Waiting for him to return to the safety of his home and the arms of his teacher. So that his teacher may learn of his lover’s travels, and study the feel of his skin under his adoring hands.

"Erestor?" Elrohir stood framed in the doorway, his soft voice touching the ears of the elf engrossed in his thoughts.

Erestor slowly turned to look at the other. His eyes drank in the raven hair hanging disheveled and unbraided. The soft grey eyes framed in ivory skin gazing at him with a mixture of love, eagerness, and exhaustion. Elrohir wore a simple black and light grey robe, obviously tossed on after he had removed his armor and bathed. His hair had not fully dried as yet.

"Elrohir, 'tis good too see you home and well, if a little unkempt." The words were said in a disapproving and curt tone. But the feelings of tenderness and heat were causing the iced eyes to burn brightly.

Elrohir knew him too well to listen to his words. Instead, he tuned into Erestor's face and eyes. He smiled softly and walked towards to older elf to embrace him. He pressed his body close to his and held to Erestor securely. Letting his head rest upon the councilor's shoulder with a contented sigh. "I missed you greatly Erestor. Why were you not at the dinner to celebrate our return? Surely Ada has not been making you work so that you must miss meals. Master Glorfindel was there saying that you must have been rolled into a scroll by error as you read. For you spend so much time motionless above them."

Erestor slid his arms around the svelte body of Elrohir, reveling in the warmth Elrohir’s body passed to his own. The smell of his skin and the joy of just holding him close, simply basking in the ecstasy of being loved. "You should know better than to listen to the Golden Git's tales of the library. He would not have a clue about the dangers of scrolls since he has never been in a library long enough to read one - let alone roll it."

The young twin chuckled softly, his eyes glittering in amusement as he remained in the claiming embrace of his lover. He remained with his head resting comfortably on Erestor's straight shoulder, content to simply stand there in his lover’s arms for as long as he would allow. Elrohir ran his hands softly up and down Erestor's back in a calming motion as he let his thoughts drift.

He had been disappointed not to see his lover at dinner. They had been apart for months. Though in the life of an elf a month was a mere moment of time, it did not feel like a moment when you were separated from the one you loved. The entire time he was away, Elrohir had desired nothing more than to be where he was now. "Why were you hiding in here, in the company of the dead trees and words, instead of at dinner, with the living? I know you love your books and are devoted to your work, and I respect your devotion. In fact, it is one of the qualities that drew me to you. But why did you stay here, when we could have been in each other's company all the sooner?" He lifted his face to study Erestor's as he spoke, reading the feelings in his eyes and watching the pursing of his lips as the older elf fought with his thoughts.

"I feared that I would not be able to hold myself in check and resist taking you into my arms."

Elrohir raised an eyebrow in mirth. "And that would be an unpleasant thing for you to do?" He then pulled Erestor closer against him and placed a soft kiss upon his lips. Lips closed, the kiss being affectionate and gentle.

An unruly smirk lit up Erestor's trained stoic expression. "Nay, having you here is rather pleasant." His sky eyes took on a more troubled tint. "But I could never do that to Elrond."

A frown took its place upon Elrohir's features as he heard those words. "The thought of his disapproval still haunts your heart?"

"Yes, I am his friend and I have betrayed him in this."

"Why do you continue to think of our love as a betrayal to my Adar?"

Erestor allowed his hands to settle lightly upon the younger elf's waist as the words formed upon his lips. "Because he trusted me to care for you and I have ended up taking you to my bed instead. I do not think Elrond shall find that very comforting."

"So you do not care for me?"

Erestor blinked in confusion at that question. "What?"

The raven-haired elf's quiet and reassuring voice was tinted with concern. "Do you not care for me then?\ Ere Erestor was momentarily terrified of what could make Elrohir doubt his love. Had he not opened himself enough to the other? Had his preoccupied, introverted personality caused his lover to think he did not love him? "Elrohir, I can assure you with all the truth of my heart that I love you. I prize you above all of the libraries of Middle-Earth. I would give my life to insure your happiness."

A soft smile curved upon the lips of the younger elf. He tilted his face to join his lips with Erestor's in a reassuring and loving kiss. When he parted from him he lifted his hand to tuck a braid behind Erestor's pointed ear and to tenderly caress his cheek. "Erestor, know that I would gladly give my life for your happiness as well. Though I can assure you that losing you to Mandos would only result in my joining you there shortly. For I would surely fade of grief to not have your thoughts and touch at my side. It was your previous statement that caused me to ask. For you voiced that 'Because he trusted me to care for you...' you have taken Elrond's trust upon yourself. You have grown to care for me in the most ultimate way by becoming my beloved. I can not reassure you more that Ada shall be thrilled to know we have found one another in love. Does he not worry about my refusal to court whilst Elladan has courted many? Even Arwen begins to show interest in the attentions of others. Though, I would be quick to have them change their minds should they approach her with offers of courtship. She is still an elfling. But I fear Adar shall be more troubled to learn that we have been hiding our love, as though it were shameful or distasteful to us."

Erestor grew quiet as the words spoken by the younger elf sunk into his thoughts. "How has it come that Elrond's child has grown to be so wise?"

A bright smile covered his features and his eyes twinkled with impish mischief. "I had a good tutor?" Erestor laughed quietly at the compliment. "Glorfindel is very wise." Elrohir added, with a wink.

This comment resulted in a rather stricken expression from Erestor. He promptly fell into a huff of indignation. This only caused Elrohir to laugh and gently slap Erestor's backside in mirth. The chief of Elrond's council made a rather undignified yelp and then began to laugh as well. Wrapping his arms tightly about the troublesome creature he had fallen madly for.

Elrohir leaned in to rest his forehead against Erestor's. Very few individuals ever got close enough to know him as his few close friends did. Elrohir silently thanked the Valar that he had been so privileged to be one of those few. Erestor often had a haughty manner and seemed too absorbed in business to smile. But those who took the time to pry his books from his hands found a witty and playful humor within him, as well as a very intense loyalty to and love for those who he cared for.

The grey eyes closed in determination. "We must tell Adar of us. For better or worse it is far better than hiding our devotions."

Erestor nodded silently. He had always marveled that grey could be such a warm and soft hue when it coloured the eyes of this elf. "We shall." He leaned in the to seal his lips over Elrohir's delightful mouth. The kiss was soft and welcoming. Elrohir parted his lips to deepen the touch. Erestor gladly did so, closing his eyes as he savored the taste and enticing warmth of Elrohir.

"Careful, I fear the books shall become jealous."

Erestor narrowed his eyes. "I hardly think a kiss should make them jealous."

"Oh? Then I suppose I should try harder." Elrohir grinned and leaned in to bestow Erestor with another breath stealing kiss. Erestor allowed his hands to roam over the back of his love. One hand glided down to cup his firm, curved backside and squeezed appreciatively, causing Elrohir to moan softly into the heated kiss. Their bodies pressed eagerly together, arousal dilating their pupils and flushing their ivory skin. The flickering of the candles creating swirls of colour across their skin as the need for more contact grew in their hearts.

Elrohir's arms wrapped around Erestor, pulling him closer in. Their groins crushed together. Elrohir took it upon himself to begin a slow grind to increase the friction, resulting in Erestor's firm and well placed praise.

The younger elf reached up to run his hands through the councilor's dark, silky hair. While Erestor continued their hungry kiss, frantic desire seeping into the contact, his skilled hand reached up to tenderly caress Elrohir's finely pointed ear. He knew this elf's weakness. Elrohir's moans deepened and his body responded, tilting his head towards the touch of his ear. This drew a rather self-satisfied smirk from Erestor amid their kisses.

Carefully Erestor began to lead their entwined bodies towards a secluded alcove in the library, where the shadows mingled with moonlight. The golden warmth of the candlelight danced with the silver cool light of the night. Erestor lifted Elrohir's dark robes to rest his hands upon the slim bare waist and, never once ceasing the plundering of his mouth, lifted him onto a small reading table.

Elrohir's lean legs parted as he pulled Erestor in linking his legs around his lover's waist. Kissing fiercely. Hands and agile fingers taught in war and art began to swiftly part the fasteners of Erestor's robes. Desperate to be rid of the thick material that hid the fine body from his skin and eyes. For despite what an initial glance told one of Erestor, he was a strikingly attractive elf. He tended to wear bulky layers and his calm, intellectual manner often caused him to be overlooked while seated beside the more radiant elves. His quiet strength tended to be overshadowed by the history and valor of those other elves. But when inflamed by passion, and in the private audience of his lover, he was as celestial in heat, form and manner as the Valar themselves.

At last Elrohir was able to get the fasteners apart and pushed Erestor's robes and tunic down over this shoulders. Tearing his swollen lips from Erestor's, he began to frantically kiss down his neck to his exposed shoulders. Tasting and caressing the skin encasing the heart he loved. At the same time, Erestor had somehow managed to completely expose Elrohir to the moonlight and shadows. His own robe lay in a pile on the floor as Erestor's hands and mouth ravished his sensitized skin. His moans of pleasure encouraged his touches and warmed the both of them further.

Elrohir was forced to pause in his attempts to remove Erestor's clothing when his lover's quick tongue found one of his nipples and a hand caressed his overly sensitive ear tips. He bucked and cried out in pleasure. Eyes closed and head cast back, he clung to his lover. Erestor once again was pleased. The young elf's responses never failed to heighten his enjoyment of their lovemaking. Elrohir was so open and sensitive in touch as well as feeling. Gently Erestor pushed him back to lie upon the table. Elrohir conveniently bent his knees so that Erestor could lift them to his shoulders and get a grip on the lean waist and pull him close. He fumbled about in his robes until he located a vial of oil.

Elrohir was breathing heavily as he gazed up at his lover. He arched an eyebrow when he caught sight of the vial.

Erestor grinned. "I thought I may have need of this before the night was through. It would not do for me to be unprepared after all."

The statement brought laughter to Elrohir. "Aye, it would be most unbecoming of you to go into a situation without full research and proper preparation!"

Erestor poured some of the oil onto his hands and warmed it. "Exactly. I am glad you paid attention at some point during your studies." Elrohir may have responded but it was lost in the deep moan he let out. For Erestor had taken that moment to slip an oil covered finger slowly into the maddeningly tight heat of the younger elf. Elrohir began to stretch around the invading finger. Once he became accustomed to it Erestor slid it out and in slowly before adding a second. Elrohir's moans increased. He writhed deliciously upon the table. Hands gripping the sides in an effort to clutch to something. Eyes sealed shut. Mouth slightly parted and skin flushed as he was stretched. Erestor could barely hold himself in check watching the display. He shuddered in anticipation as his name came from Elrohir's mouth in a drawn out needy moan. The younger elf's hips began to thrust back against Erestor's hand. He was ready for him.

"Erestor?"

The distant voice caused both to freeze in mortification. Elrohir's eyes flew open into two round saucers of terror. Erestor, who was temporarily petrified motionless, mirrored the feeling. He was half-dressed, with his fingers deep inside of the naked Elrohir, and approaching the library the father of this elf was calling for him. True, they had wanted to tell Elrond about their relationship.... But this was hardly the way.

Erestor was spurred into action. He was off of Elrohir and dressed in nearly the same motion. Elrohir was desperately scrambling to his feet and attempting to pick up his robe. Erestor turned to help him and only succeeded in yanking it on backwards. One of Elrohir's arms getting caught in the sleeve at an odd angle. He was nearly hyperventilating and was bright red in embarrassment and fear.

"Erestor? Are you in here?" Elrond paused. That was a rather odd question to ask. Of course Erestor was in the library. He wasn't in the stables, his room, or the gardens. So it was the only other place he could be. "Where are you?"

In a moment of inspiration Erestor shoved Elrohir beneath the table and pushed the book cart in front of it, obscuring Elrohir from view. He then grabbed a book and did his best to appear engrossed.

Moments later, Lord Elrond walked tall and silent into that section. He glanced about and quickly spied Erestor half hidden in an alcove. He approached soundlessly but for the dragging for his regal robes over the stone and placed a hand on Erestor's shoulder. "Erestor, engrossed yet again?"

Erestor had no need to feign the startled jump at the hand upon his shoulder. "El-Elrond! You should not do that to me. If you love your chief of council you should try not to end his days early by causing his heart to cease in fright." Trying to maintain his calm but playful demeanor with Elrond was proving very difficult, considering Elrond's son was under the table, attempting to get his clothing back on straight and without making any noise.

Elrond stood with a slight frown etched over his proud features. "Erestor, you know that my friendship with you is deep. I care greatly for your well being. Which is why I am here. Erestor, we have been friends for a long time. I have complete trust in you and I would like to believe you held the same for me. I come here tonight in concern. Glorfindel and I have both noticed your withdrawal, more so than normal. When you did not show up for dinner tonight, it only served to inse ose our concerns. Erestor, what is on your mind that causes you anxiety?"

Erestor could swear that his heartbeat had increased to a pace and volume that could be heard by Elrond. The fact he was still aroused and Elrohir was below the table were rather large factors in his anxiety. Along with the hurt it would cause Elrond to know such a thing. Instead, he schooled his features to be calm and unrevealing. "Nothing causes me anxiety Elrond. I was simply absorbed in this book and lost track of the time. Also, negotiations with Mirkwood have been difficult and have been taking up most of my hours of late. I am sorry I missed the dinner as I would have enjoyed seeing the twins again. But I shall make it up to Elladan and Elrohir in the morning. Is it too much to ask for a few moments to myself?"

Elrond's frown grew. "Erestor, do you not trust to take confidence in me?"

Erestor looked startled, "Of course I do Elrond. Your trust and friendship are dearly important to me."

"Then why do you lie to me?"

"Er…wh-what do you mean lie to you?" Very rarely did Erestor's silver tongue fail him as it was now. Did he know? Had Elrond discovered his relationship with Elrohir?

"There is obviously something weighing upon your heart. For you rarely fail to speak with anything but pure elegance. Coupled with this, your book in which you have been engrossed, 'tis upside-down."

Beneath the table Elrohir bit his fist in a desperate attempt not to laugh. The absurdity of the situation was getting to him at last. He was tempted to crawl out from under the table and laugh with them, showing how amusing it was. But he knew that Erestor would be shattered and his father would be less than pleased to learn the reason why he was under the table. Somehow Elrohir guessed Elrond would rather not see him half dressed and in a state of arousal at Erestor's hand. So he remained still beneath the table, trying desperately not to laugh.

Erestor opened and closed his mouth in realization. "I…I was…I was reading it as so. Testing to see if my familiarity with words was so that I could read an entire tome in reverse." He nodded stubbornly.

Elrond's expressive eyebrow arched in pointed disbelief. "Truly?"

"Yes, it is a very fascinating exercise. It helps to keep one's thoughts and interest peaked. An alert mind is indispensable."

Elrond didn't believe a word of it. But he had learned long ago that if Erestor had no desire to share his feelings, it was pointless to try to force him to speak. Instead he just squeezed Erestor's shoulder in a supportive gesture. "I shall leave you then to your books and rest, my friend. But know that if you ever desire to speak, I am here to listen. No matter what it is, I shall hear you out and offer you what help and support I can."

Erestor smiled at him. "I know Elrond. Should I ever have need of an ear, yours shall be consulted." He was eternally grateful that his lingering arousal was hidden by the table's edge. Otherwise, this ridiculous situation would only become far worse. Elrond at last wished him a fair evening, and departed for his own bed and the company of his beloved wife.

Erestor's sigh of relief echoed through the library once Elrond was out of hearing. He closed the book and pulled back his chair to look beneath the table at his lover. Elrohir's shoulders were shaking and his face was an intense red as he trembled with restrained mirth.

Erestor reached under and dragged the laughing elf out and helped him get properly dressed. Elrohir was unable to see straight as his laughter erupted. "…upside-down….indispensable?! I am amazed…he did not commit you…!" Elrohir wrapped his arms around Erestor's shoulders to support himself as his laughter tore through his body. After a time Erestor found himself joining in and slipping his arms around the other's waist.

"Aye, 'twas a bit of a stretch, was it not? But one can never count on perfection with improvisational techniques in such situations." Erestor held his love close as they finally regained their composure.

Elrohir wiped his eyes and continued to grin, embracing Erestor back warmly. "Perhaps we should retire to your rooms where our privacy is ensured before we continue the night's activities?"

Erestor held him tightly and bestowed a quick, affectionate kiss upon Elrohir's sweet mouth. "That would be a wise course of action."

They joined hands and swiftly left the library. Extinguishing the candles as they passed, leaving the shelves in the soft glow of the moon. They entwined their fingers and dashed down the shadowed halls of the last Homely House, eager to reach the sanctuary and quiet of Erestor's bed. Here Erestor was more than happy to demonstrate to his beloved Elrohir how much he had missed him while he had been gone. Elrohir most appreciatively returned the gesture.
