Chapter 9
Title: An Unlikely Lust (9/?)
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Haldir/Thranduil, Rumil/Legolas
Warnings: AU, teasing, mild unwanted touching, graphic sex
Disclaimer: If they were mine I would be rich. Seeing as I am broke, they are obviously not mine. But good lord do they make dreams worth while!
Summary: Thranduil wants to make his feelings known and help Haldir get over the object of his affections. And Orophin and Rumil have plans for knocking Legolas down a few pegs on the ego ladder.
***************************
“Start explaining, Haldir!” Celeborn snarled as he stood toe to toe with the marchwarden. Haldir looked into his eyes and tried to force out the words. But nothing would come.
Thranduil had gone right to the tree and was busy trying to untie his son. His mind was full of thoughts. How could he do this? Did he do this? Maybe he did not know his new lover as well as he thought.
“Haldir, I am waiting!”
“Yes, Haldir, we’re waiting,” mocked Legolas from behind. Haldir looked back at him and felt his heart drop as he realized the prince would not back up any claim he made unless he took credit for this crime. “Tell him how you attacked me and tied me to this tree, Haldir. Go on.”
He turned back to face Celeborn again. He stood before him, his arms crossed at his chest and staring at Haldir expectantly. “I did not expect this from you. And you do not even offer words in your own defense. What has gotten into you?”
He walked past Haldir and stood before the prince. “Tell me what happened.”
“Well, it all happened rather fast. I went out for a walk several hours ago. While I was out I came across Haldir wandering down the road towards my talan. Without any warning, he grabbed me and drug me down here. Before I knew what was going on, he had undressed me and tied me to this tree and was… servicing me.”
“That is not true!” The words shot from Haldir’s mouth before he could even think. His mind quickly went to what he had found and he thought of Rumil. Shutting his eyes, he swallowed hard. “I was not servicing him.”
“What were you doing, then?”
“I… I am not sure. I had not planned this out very well.”
“When did this begin?” asked Thranduil from behind the tree. He stood, unable to get the knots out of the ropes. He walked around front and looked to his son.
“A few hours ago, at least.”
“A few hours ago. Was the sun still up?”
“Um… yes, it was.”
Thranduil looked to Celeborn. He knew something was happening here, but he could not figure out what. “Are you sure, Legolas? And do not lie to me.”
“I am sure, Ada.”
Haldir remained still. It took all of his strength to keep himself from falling to his knees in tears. He had given up much in his lifetime for his younger brothers, but this was going too far.
***************
“Orophin?”
“Rumil. What are you doing here?”
“I need your help.”
“Ah. What trouble are we causing now?”
“I need you to… what happened to your eye?”
“Haldir got angry with me. Never mind. What is wrong?”
“I need you to come with me.”
“Rumil, I cannot!”
“Haldir requests you.”
“I am guessing he wants to hit me for something else.”
“No. He wants your knives. We need to… cut some rope.”
“Rumil… what have you done?”
“Let’s just say there is a very angry and very naked prince who would very much like for you to cut him free from a tree.”
“I cannot believe you went through with this. Do you know what is going to happen when Haldir goes to Lord Celeborn with this?! And you know he will! It is Legolas!”
“He promised he would not if I came to get you.”
“And you believe him? Rumil, you have really pushed a fine line this time. I would still bet he is going to go to Lord Celeborn.”
“Just come and help us, please, Orophin?”
Orophin sighed, but complied. The two walked for several moments before Orophin looked to his brother again. “What, exactly, did you end up doing to him?”
“Not what I had planned.”
“That would be…?”
“I enjoyed it.”
Orophin stopped walking and stared at him. Rumil stopped and looked back. “Enjoyed what, little one?”
“Use your imagination.”
Orophin crinkled his nose and began walking again. “I would rather not. There are some things I would like to imagine you have not yet discovered.”
******************
Thranduil took hold of Celeborn’s arm. “Haldir, go nowhere.” He pulled Celeborn to the side of the hill.
“What is it?”
“Celeborn, something is wrong here.”
“What?”
“Haldir was with me most of the night. Well after the sun had gone down. I do not doubt my son was attacked, but I do doubt by whom he was attacked.”
“Who else could it have been?”
“The one we were originally looking for, maybe?”
“Rumil? He is not even here, Thranduil.”
“I know. Maybe Haldir chased him off and was trying to free my son.”
“Thranduil, you are in a haze. You told me yourself you were developing feelings for Haldir. You are trying to rationalize it and it cannot be done!”
“No, this is not rationalization. This is the truth.”
He walked back towards his son. “Legolas, I need more information. Tell me when and how Haldir attacked you.”
“It was… not long after the evening meal. The sun was still up. I had gone to my room but grown restless.”
“I was at your talan, what of the mess?”
“The mess? Oh. I… um… I was cleaning up. I went outside to check on a noise, and then decided to go for a walk.”
“While busy cleaning?”
“Yes. I grew bored of it.”
“Alright. Go on.”
“It wasn’t long before I saw Haldir. He was heading for my talan.”
“How do you know that is where he was going?”
“He told me.”
“Go on. How far were you from your talan?”
“Only a few paces. I saw him, and…”
“Only a few paces? Why did he drag you out here, this is not close to your talan.”
“I… I do not know.”
“Legolas, are you being honest with me?”
“Yes, Ada!”
“I do not believe you are.”
Legolas gave him a strange look, a cross between hurt and confused. Thranduil collected himself and cleared his throat.
“Haldir… was busy well after the sun went down.”
“No, Ada. Whatever he told you…”
“I did not ask him. I saw him.”
“But he…” Legolas fell silent. Looking back at Haldir, his mind flashed.
”Be careful who you call an orc.”
“Ada!”
“What?”
“You were with him?”
“Yes, I was. He is my guardian on this trip, do not forget.”
“No, I mean… you were with him?”
Thranduil felt his face flush. “I… Legolas, I did not want you to find out this way, but yes. I have been spending a lot of time with Haldir. But the fact that we were together tonight is proof enough of where he was when the sun went down. So tell me, Legolas. What really happened tonight?”
*****************
“Wait!” Orophin put his hand out to stop his brother.
“What is it?”
“Hush! Do you not hear that?”
“Hear what?”
Orophin ignored the question and made his way slowly to the edge of the hill. Peeking down past a tree, he watched the scene below. His eyes grew wide.
“Orophin! What is it? What is happening? Did Haldir free him?”
“No. But Thranduil and Celeborn appear to have to their aid.”
“What?!” Rumil began to visibly shake as he stepped back further. Orophin turned to him.
“Rumil, you must go down there!”
“I… I cannot!”
“You do not have a choice!”
“Orophin, I… I cannot! C-Celeborn will have my hide!”
“You got yourself into this mess, now…”
“It was your idea! You are the one who told me to do it!”
“And I will go down there with you! I am already in trouble. Haldir knows my part in this!”
“But I am the one who captured him and … did stuff.”
“Rumil, what did you do? Did you force yourself on him?!”
“No! I would never! I just… I just… Oh, Orophin!”
“Tell me!”
“I was… playing with him.”
“How?!”
“Orally.” Rumil looked down to the ground as his faced flushed maroon. He could feel tears burning his eyes.
“Rumil. You must go down there and admit your fault!”
“I cannot!”
“Rumil! You cannot allow Haldir to take the fall for this!”
“He has probably already told them of my plan if he got it from you!”
Orophin looked back down at the scene below, and then back to Rumil. “Judging from what I can see, he has not.”
“But he…”
“Rumil, he has involuntarily taken the blame for our pranks before. He will do it again if he must. This is too serious. You cannot allow him to fall for this.”
Rumil swallowed hard. He knew Orophin was right. Taking a deep breath, he straightened himself and dried the tears threatening to spill from his eyes. One last look to his brother, and then he set off for the trip back down the hill.
******************
Haldir stood frozen. Thranduil’s questioning of his son had been strange for him. He had not wanted to reveal his relationship at all, although he did not plan to tell him that bluntly. But having it revealed in this way was embarrassing to him. Even though it gave him a solid alibi. Who is going to question Thranduil?
Thranduil stood before his son, still, trying to hide the look of disappointment that must have been plastered on his face. Legolas stood speechless. “I would like an answer.”
“Ada, the answer I gave is the one you will have. That is how it happened.”
“Even with your new information?”
“Yes. I do not believe you have bedded this elf, and I will not. You may have feelings for him, but his feelings are for me. Do not cover for him. I am your son! It is my word you should be taking!”
“Legolas, I have allowed you to get away with much in your short life, but this is far too serious. I cannot allow it anymore. It is my fault you have become a selfish, spoiled little elf, and it is my duty to end it. And it ends now.”
“But, Ada, I…”
“Legolas, enough! Tell me the truth!”
“Ada, it was Haldir, whether you believe me or not!”
“That is a lie!” All four elves looked back to the foot of the hill. Rumil’s pace had slowed upon reaching more level ground. “Haldir was only trying to free him.”
“So you know what has happened here, Rumil?” Celeborn asked.
“Yes. It is I that am responsible for this. And only me.”
“What of Orophin?”
“He was on duty. We had a plan, but he backed out. I kept to it alone.” Rumil walked over to his eldest brother and pulled his head up enough to meet his eyes. “Haldir, I cannot allow you to take the blame for me anymore.”
“Rumil, you are my brother.”
“I know that. But I am grown now, and I must take the blame for my own actions. And I do.”
“Rumil.” He turned to face Celeborn. “You understand the punishment for this crime will be harsh.”
“I do.”
*******************
The ropes fell loose with one strike from Orophin’s knives. Legolas fell forward onto his knees as Thranduil wrapped him in his cloak. Getting to his knees, Legolas closed the cloak over himself before standing again.
Celeborn stood by Rumil watching the scene. Rumil kept his eyes to the ground, once again fighting the tears that threatened him. He did not see the prince approach.
“May I have a moment with him?” Celeborn looked surprised at Legolas’ request, but nodded and stepped away to join Thranduil.
“Rumil?”
“Yes, my prince?” he replied, keeping his eyes to the ground.
Legolas reached out his hand and cupped Rumil’s chin, urging his head up until their eyes met. “You… may have began a crime, but you did not end one.”
“What do you mean?”
Legolas smiled. “I have been wrong to you, I know. But I hope you would forgive me.”
They looked into each other’s eyes for a long moment. Finally Legolas smiled and leaned in to Rumil. Their lips met. Legolas placed his hands on Rumil’s sides and pulled him closer until their bodies were touching. Opening his mouth, he licked at the Silvan’s lips, requesting entrance which was quickly granted.
Parting their kiss, Legolas looked into his eyes again. “I rather enjoyed this evening. Tell me, Rumil. If I was not leaving soon would you allow me to court you? I would be willing to stay longer.”
Rumil looked into his eyes and smiled. The smiled deepened as he opened his mouth to reply. “No,” he whispered.
“After all of this? I thought you were enjoying it!”
“I was. But then…” he smiled again.
“But then what? You remembered you were duty bound to be nasty to me?”
“No. But then you lied and almost got Haldir into a lot of trouble.”
“And what does he matter?!”
“He is my brother!” Rumil stepped back from Legolas. “No, Legolas. There may have been a chance at some point. But you proved that you will never change. And my brothers are far more important to me.”
