Author's Notes #2: As you already know, I have informed Elven about your want for her to continue writing. I must say, though, that she HAS been writing, it's just that she's been doing a wonderful Enterprise fic for me instead of a Lord of the Rings one. So go easy on her. ;) And THANK YOU for the reviews - I hope you continue to enjoy the story and I hope it continues to surprise. To those who read but do not review: YOU SUCK! Review, please! :D

She had not slept. Once she had gotten back to Aragorn's room, she had paced for some time before sitting upon the bed and opening the box that sat on the bedside table. The palantir glowed silver in its cradle as she laid down and held the box beside her, watching and stroking the smooth object. The calming effect was immediate, and before she knew it daybreak filtered into the dark room. Valawen lifted her tired eyes to the sunlight. Soon everyone would know what had occured.

There was a knock at the door. Closing the lid of the box, Valawen placed it on the floor and slid it under the bed before answering. Her abdomen swelled with worry when Eowyn's wide, shining eyes met hers. "Valawen," she breathed, taking her hands and entering the room, "I heard about Elrond. I am so sorry!"

Valawen's throat felt tight as they sat upon the bed. "Thank you," she answered, smiling for the human's benefit. Eowyn looked as though she had been crying for days.

"I can't believe this," she whispered, shaking her head, "Arwen and now Elrond. Something must have happened. There must be some reason for this!"

Slipping her hands out from under Eowyn's, Valawen crossed her arms and rubbed them, fighting off a sudden chill. "I don't know. I can't bear to think of it."

"Aragorn says you found him." When she nodded, Eowyn continued softly, "Aragorn also told me that you didn't want Elrond examined. Is this true?"

Valawen clenched her jaw, wondering if the King knew Eowyn was here. "It is."

"Why?"

The elf looked up. Eowyn's expression was sad and curious, and a little worried. "Did Aragorn send you here to speak with me?" she asked, deflecting the question.

The blonde blinked. "No, no, he only told me you were here. He said you might not want visitors, but I could not just leave you alone."

Nodding, Valawen took a deep breath and asked, "Where is he now? Do you know?"

"He is with Faramir. They're discussing what to do next." Eowyn looked down when things became silent, then said, "I'm afraid I know not what to say to you, Valawen. I know little of how elves grieve. If you need anything, please know that I am here for you."

She could not dislike the young woman, as much as she tried. Relenting, she touched Eowyn's knee and smiled. "Thank you. I appreciate it."

The blonde still had something on her mind, though. "I know this is a difficult time, but I must speak: Please reconsider your demand to not have Elrond examined. If there is indeed something killing elves, you could be in grave danger yourself."

"I understand your worry, Eowyn. I will think your request over." The human seemed relieved by her words, though Valawen had no intention of following through. "Could you do me a favour? Could you please ask Aragorn to come by as soon as he gets the chance? I do not yet feel comfortable going out."

She seemed happy to be able to do something. "Of course," she replied, standing, "I will go immediately."

Valawen followed her to the door. "Thank you for your kindness. I'm afraid I may not yet fully realize what has occured. It all seems...like a foul dream."

Nodding sadly, Eowyn said her goodbyes and closed the door.

Aragorn's pale blue eyes were trained upon her as she stood naked before him. He took his time sliding his gaze up and down her frame, examining every inch of her nude flesh. It made her skin tingle and her pulse race. When his hands took hold of her hips and pulled her close to the bed he sat upon, she hissed in a shaking breath. When his hot mouth closed in around her belly button, biting at her tender abdomen, she could feel her body throb in desire.

She had wanted to ask him what had taken him so long to return. She had waited all day for him, pacing in worry and impatience and feeling the pull of the palantir that still resided under the bed. Valawen had resisted that pull, too conflicted to allow herself to succumb to its calls. When Aragorn had returned to his room, she had demanded that he inform her of what had been going on. His gentle touches and calming words had soothed her fears to the point that she no longer cared what fate held for her. When he had slipped the clothes from her body, promising a taste of what her sacrifice had brought them, she did not resist. She couldn't. She had done this for him. No matter what treasures the palantir held for her, without Aragorn none of this would have occured.

Valawen's eyes fluttered shut as she held his head to her belly. His warm tongue caressed her gently as his hand molded to her backside, smoothing the fair skin. She moaned faintly as his lips made a trail down her pelvis. "Part your legs," he breathed, pushing lightly on the inside of her thigh. She adjusted her footing and he attacked her skin again, his rough beard scratching. It only added to the want that stirred in her body. When his fingers parted the folds of skin at the vee of her legs, she hissed in a breath and held it.

Valawen bit her lip and groaned when he kissed her wetness. His strong tongue invaded her body, lapping at the skin and stirring the nerves. Gently he sucked on her sensitive nub and she couldn't hold back a gasp of unexpected pleasure. Her legs weakened as he continued the assault, and she found herself knotting a hand in his dark hair. Wrapping his hands around her hips, he held her steady even as she tried to press herself into his searching mouth. The aching grew as she lowered her head and shut her eyes tight.

Aragorn increased the stroking of his tongue, plunging himself in as far as he could. Her wetness smoothed along the folds of skin, slickening the pathway and increasing the sharp stabs of urgency that were slowly taking her over the edge. When he took hold of her nub, sucking firmly, Valawen cried out and met her release, shaking against his hold. He kept licking her even as she shuddered, furthering her pleasure. Finally, when she settled above him, her hands resting on his shoulders and her breath panting, he pulled away and looked up, licking his lips. "Good?" he asked.

She was breathless. Smiling and lowering to the bed beside him, she nodded agreeably. "Very good."

Aragorn laid down and she crawled beside him, curling against his body. She was beginning to feel a craving for him much like the one she felt for the palantir. It relaxed her when she was able to touch him.

His hand touched hers gently. "It will soon be time for the next phase of our plan."

She glanced up. It was the first he had said of anything to do with what those who spoke to them wanted. "When?" she asked, not even knowing what the next phase would entail.

"After Elrond's burial." She frowned at the words as he continued, "Everyone must be given time to grieve."

Guilt flitted across her heart. "He is to be buried here, then?" she asked.

Aragorn looked down at her, his eyes flashing in anger. "Of course not. I would never do such a thing to the person I owe my life to. Elrond will be taken back to Imladris to be laid to rest. I have already sent a messenger to retrieve his sons."

Her skin flushed. "I'm sorry. I thought...I thought you would not want anyone else involved."

"Elrond's death is a burden to us all. Elrohir and Elladan will take their father to where he belongs." He sighed heavily, adding, "I am no monster."

She clenched her jaw. "What of the poison? Will they not suspect something and insist on an examination?"

"It has been taken care of." When she looked up at him questioningly, he explained, "His body is being kept in a basin of water and athelas. It will cleanse him before they arrive."

"Eowyn wanted me to reconsider the examination as well," she said quietly, "Do you think she suspects anything?"

"No," he responded, "If she speaks of it again, simply inform her that you have decided to allow Elrond's sons to make that decision. By that time his body will have no trace of the poison."

Valawen felt relieved. Still, though, one more thing concerned her. "Elrohir and Elladan will wonder when I do not join them on the journey back to Imladris."

"You will, in time." She looked up in surprise, but he smiled reassuringly. "Once Gondor has been brought around to our way of thinking, the Elves will need to be dealt with. You will be instrumental in that."

"What happens until then?"

"Until then tell them that you cannot return to Imladris until the grief has dimished. They will understand." Aragorn's hand squeezed hers. "I can feel the tension in your body, Valawen. You must believe me when I tell you that there is no need for it."

"I only want to do right," she breathed softly, "I want to do right by you."

Turning, he smiled and kissed her tenderly. "It is impossible for you to do anything but right."

"Aragorn," she said as his warm hand smoothed over her bare waist, "What will we gain from this endeavor? What is our reward?"

"Is this not enough?" he breathed darkly, lowering his mouth to her throat. His lips marred her skin with gentle bites.

Her eyes closed softly. "It is," she answered quietly, "You are enough." She sighed heavily as he ran his fingers through her hair and smiled. "But the palantir could not possibly have arranged this simply so we could be together. There must be something else."

"There is," he nodded, "Something neither of us can possibly imagine. More power and pleasure than a being like Sauron could ever have hoped for."

It was vague, but Valawen felt comforted by his words. "What we are doing is good for all of Arda, is it not?" she asked, "We are not like Sauron."

Aragorn's eyes burned like a fire had been lit within. "Sauron was weak. He wanted more than just dominance, he wanted to enslave every race in all of Middle-earth. There was no compassion in him, nothing good. We," he said, staring into her wide eyes, "are nothing like Sauron."

Valawen smiled, her eyes shining. "I want to rid this world of pain."

"We will do that. I promise."

His fingers rubbed warmth along her side when she asked, "How?"

"First we must convince others of our plans. I will speak with Faramir in the morning. Once he sees the true way, all of Gondor will follow." His eyes flickered in thought. "Our armies will then move east to Rohan."

"What if you cannot convince Faramir?"

He looked down and smiled. "Then you will have to try."

Valawen knit her brow as Aragorn lowered his mouth to her shoulder, pressing tender kisses along her skin. She knew what he spoke of, but hoped it would not come to that.

She quickly became distracted by his hands molding to her naked breasts, pinching the tips into sensitive peaks. His kisses slid to her nipples, sucking slowly as his hand cupped her womanhood.

Valawen rolled into his touch, but he did not move to bring her pleasure. Instead, he simly held his palm over her heat, driving her wild with need at being so close but not invading.

"Aragorn," she hissed, running her hands along his torso. She wanted his clothes off, wanted him closer. "Please..."

He sat up and removed his tunic. Smiling, he pulled the ties of his pants apart and slid out of the garments. When his nude body pressed down against hers, Valawen attacked his mouth with fervor. His tongue swirled against hers in an embrace that easily conveyed the hunger of her need.

His strong hands forced her legs apart. She didn't resist as he sat back and pulled her hips up, allowing him easy entry into her body. Aragorn groaned low as he laid back over her, resting his arms on either side of her shivering body. He thrust his pelvis against hers in quick jerks, causing her to curl her legs against his body.

Valawen rolled her hips up to meet his as his strokes became more steady. She hissed in breaths each time he jerked against her and closed her eyes when his warmth breath moistened the skin of her neck. He sucked at her shoulder, lapping as he rocked into her again and again. She was still sensitive from their earlier encounter, and his seeking thrusts made her wince in renewed bliss.

He was coming close. Rising up on his hands, he stared down into her eyes and slammed into her hips over and over until she shuddered in release. Valawen swung her arm back and gripped the pillow hard as she came, crying out his name. Her body bucked and arched back as he continued driving against her, prolonging her pleasure and, in several swift jerks, ending his.

Aragorn pulled out and collapsed beside her, his breaths coming in shallow pants. "Never before have I felt anything like that."

Valawen closed her eyes, revelling in the afterglow. "It is...different," she said, "So intense."

His hand found her belly, rubbing softly. "Everything is so clear. It must be the palantir that has given us this gift."

She curled onto her side and smiled. "We must repay them."

"We will," he answered, pulling her against him, "We begin tomorrow."
