Chapter 9

Keira sighed as she sat down at the banquette table. She had Haldir had danced just about every dance that night, and she was getting tired. She couldn’t wait to be alone with Haldir. He had told her earlier that evening that they had to leave at first light for the borders. Her brother was expected by mid-day next. She knew that they would leave with Thranduil, and might not be back for a while yet.

But the Lady had requested that Haldir stay for a little while longer. Sierra flopped down beside Keira. “What’s up sis?” she said smiling at Orophin across the room.

“Did he tell you that they are leaving in the morning for the boarders?” Keira asked raising an eyebrow at her response.

“No he didn’t! Why are they going?”

“Our brother will be here tomorrow,” Sighed Keira.

“Kie I don’t want to leave here so soon!”

“Well it’s not like we can’t come back.” Keira smiled and looked to the lady and Haldir talking quietly over the side. He caught her stair and smiled at her. She was about to turn back to Keira when a disturbance at the entrance of the hall caught their attention.

Keira gasped as the most beautiful man… make that elf she had ever seen stepped into the room. He was very tall and he had long golden hair. With eyes so green and striking that they took her breath away. Not a moment later anther elf stepped into the doorframe.

At first Keira thought that they were twins. But the first one was taller, but not by much and he had a little more meat on his bones then the other one. She could see that his eyes were not the same color as well they were deep blue.

She was quite startled when Lady Galadriel took their hands, and started leading them over to the two standing in the doorway. Her heart sta bea beating so fast that she thought it would jump out of her chest. As they drew nearer she could feel the green-eyed beauty’s eyes move over her. It sent chills down her spine.

“My Lord Thranduil my I present Princess Keira and Sierra.”

“Galadriel said with a bright smile as she backed away a step behind them.

“My Lady’s this is your brother King Thranduil of Mirkwood and his only son Prince Legolas.”

Sierra was the first to move. She sweep up to him and gave a formal bawl. Thranduil reached out and pulled her to her feet, with bright teary eyes. “My sister’s you need not bowl to meet, He said smiling through unshed tears of joy. “Long have I waited for you to find your way back to us.”

Sierra gasped as he drew her into his arms. “I’m please to meet you as well my lord.”

“No please both of you call me Thranduil.”

“Ok I’d like that Sierra said drawing a cereous look out of both Thranduil and Legolas.”

Orophin and Haldir could not help the soft chuckle that escaped their lips, as the lady glared at them.

“Sire if you would follow me, I will take you somewhere, so as you may have a few minutes along with your sisters,” Haldir smiled at Keira as he lead the way.

A moment later they were stepping into the lady’s consul chambers. Haldir smiled as Keira passed him by and grasped her hand for a Maier second of two. But long enough for Thranduil to catch and smile at the March warden.

“I will be right out side if you should need me my lady.” Haldir whispered into her ear. Then departed the room.

When Keira turned around Thranduil’s eyes were on her. She felt as if we were looking through her soul. She tried to smile but somehow she could. She felt like she was drowning in his deep green eyes.

“Kie what is wrong with you? Has the cat got you tong or something?” Keira shook her head and looked at her sister as if trying to clear fog from her mind.

As soon as Haldir took the twin that the Mirkwood royals into the consul chambers Orophin took his leave and left in search of Rúmil. He knew just where to find him. Rumil hardly ever joined in the banquette any more. Instead he would go home and to his empty bed. Orophin Prayed that tonight would change all that.

The bright smile he had received from Legolas had put fire in his heart and speed in his step to hasten his search of his brother. He knew that Rumil would be over joyed to see his love again. But at the same time he knew that the time of the twin’s departure was drawing ever closer.

By the tome he reached the talan that was his and Rúmil’s home he was out of breath. And for some reason Rúmil had locked the front door. He climbed over the railing and onto the balcony and pushed open Rúmil’s curtains.
