Hi there.
I read the latest reviews and think maybe I should explain the ending - I'm sorry if it was delusive.
Viggo has realized that he does feel something ial ial for Iris even though he had been sure that would not happen to him anymore. But he finds her letter to late - after he spend all day and night being mad at himself and frustrated.
But when he reads her note, he realizes that teh solution is most simple - he just gotta do the leap and risk something. That is why he smiles and then goes to bed, thinking of her and drowning himself in her art again that had ignited his interest in the first place.
But he will call her the next day, he just realizes that there is no hurry since he knows now how he wants to spend the rest of his life *sigh*
Actually it's completely corny and since it's so corny I didn't want it to be so direct :)
