Its all Your Fault!
Ch 9- Its All Your Fault!
“Damn it!” Temperance swore as she tried to open her door. She didn’t know why it wouldn’t open it had never stuck before.
“Stupid door!! OPEN!!!!!” She bellowed angrily, pushing on the door. Someone came up behind her, turned the knob and gently pushed on the door. Temperance stood in angry shock, as the traitorous door swung open easily.
“ Ass door.” She muttered angrily. Temp turned as a soft laugh sounded behind her.
“Ass door?” Legolas asked, smirking.
“YOU!” She accused and hurried into her room trying to slam the door in Legolas’s face. He stopped the door and sauntered into the room as if he owned it. Temp let out an angry growl.
“What part of, I want to be left alone, did you not understand?” She ground out. Legolas who was studying the room as if he had never set foot in it, turned to smile at her.
“I understood the statement perfectly well I just chose to ignore it.” He said with a shrug, then back to scrutinizing his surrounding.
“What gives you the right?” She demanded. Legolas simply shrugged.
“Oh that’s right you’re the handsome elf and you can do anything you like.” Temperance huffed angrily under her breath, while glaring at Legolas’s back.
“You think I’m handsome?” Legolas asked, as he turned to grin at her.
“No.” She said, rolling her eyes.
“But you just said…..” He started cheekily.
“What I just said doesn’t matter!” Temp snapped. Legolas was quick to disagree.
“Oh but it does. Things would change.” He drawled, trailing a finger down her cheek.
“What do you want?” She growled, stepping back. Sighing Legolas gave up his flirting, for the moment, and answered.
“I simply wanted to make sure you were alright. To make sure Haldir hadn’t hurt your feelings” He said, fingering the covers on her bed. Temp came to stand beside him, and brushed his hand away.
“Stop it! Why should it matter to you? Its all your fault!” She said, her ire rising with every passing word.
He watched her temper flaring, enjoying the view, then what she had just said sunk in and he was momentarily speechless.
“My fault! What’s my fault?” He asked, utterly confused at the part he played in this drama.
“Yes! You’re the reason I got in trouble!” She cried out.
“How?” Legolas demanded still confused.
“HOW? You fondled me this morning and then when Elrond walked in you were in my bed!” She answered continuing to shout.
“I did not! As for being in your bed, if you remember it was your blow that sent me into it.” He returned.
“You could have gotten out!” Temp yelled. Legolas grinned.
“Yes, I could have but I then you would been disappointed. It’s also a very comfortable bed.” He replied.
“Ha ha ha. Very amusing.” She said sarcastically.
“You aren’t in a very pleasant mood today, Temperance. Are you feeling well?” He asked, frowning down at her
“I
“I have nothing to be pleasant about because of you!” She said, poking him in the center of the chest.
“Ow. What else did I do?” He inquired, absently rubbing the spot she had stabbed.
“ I spit my wine in Haldir’s face because you and Gimli were playing in the hall.” She said.
“Gimli and I weren’t playing. I was trying to get you to come riding with me. Gimli appeared out of nowhere,” Legolas said.
“You are an ELF! You should have heard him huffing and puffing up to you.” Temp pointed out.
“Yes, I am but was more interested in getting you alone than Gimli.” He answered, stunning Temperance.
“I cannot believe you! I have been here all of three weeks and you…. Oh never mind!” She said, shaking her head.
“I only meant to get you alone so I could teach you how to ride better. That and give you your own horse.” He told her sounding slightly miffed at the very suggest that he had planned something untoward.
“A horse? You wanted to give me a horse?” Temp asked, not believing he was innocent. She had been around him, AND his lips that seemed to be descending towards hers every chance they got.
“Yes, but now that I’m looking at you I think I’d had better make it a pony.”
“OH!!!! GET OUT!!!!” She shouted, ae ene end of her rope.
“I was only joking, Temperance. Nothing to be upset about.” He stated trying to calm her down. Temperance simply stood, teeth clenched, pointing at the door.
“Alright I’ll go but perhaps I shall call you Temper from now on.” Legolas taunted.
“OUT!” She grit between her teeth. Chuckling Legolas exited the room.
“Temperance be sure and talk to Elrond about the riding lessons. You have so much to learn and I cannot wait to teach you how to ride.” He called over his shoulder.
“But you already taught me how.” She said. Legolas turned to grin back at her.
“There is so much more that I can teach you, Temper.” He murmured, and slipped out the door. Temperance blushed from the roots of her hair to the tips of her toes.
“Holy Hell. He did NOT mean that like I’m taking it!” She told herself.
“Yes, he did and if you were smart you would be at the stables at dawn whether Elrond says you can or not.” She snorted.
“Don’t think so! Why does Legolas have to try and be so alluring? Why does he have to be so good at it? Why can’t he be all superior acting like Haldir?” She asked aloud.
“Probably because he likes you. Do I really act superior to you?” Haldir said from the doorway. Temperance looked up and smiled.
“HA! He is probably having vanity issues. No you don’t but you don’t flirt every time you’re near either. You treat me with respect.” She stated.
“Legolas isn’t vain, you are the only woman I have ever seen him truly interested in. It seems you have struck a nerve with your lack affection for him.” Haldir said amused at the game Legolas was playing.
“I don’t have a lack of affection for him! I just don’t want that kind of relationship with him. I just want live out my days with good friends.” She defended.
“You shall but it wouldn’t be terrible of you to love Legolas.” Haldir responded.
“Yes it would! Ack! I don’t think of him like that.” She replied, to Haldir while her mind said something else.
“Yes you do and you know it! You’re just being stupid.” The little voice inside said.
“Oh and how do you think of him?” He asked, amused.
“Shut up!” Temp said aloud, earning a confused look from Haldir.
“Not you.” She told him.
“I WILL NOT SHUT UP! YOU’RE BEING STUPID! Legolas is gorgeous and he wants YOU! Why resist?” The little voice continued and Temp shut it out.
“Damn voice.” She growled and turned her attention to Haldir. He was looking at her as if she was nuts. Her eyes went wide, and then she smiled.
“I’m sorry. What was the question?” She asked.
“I asked how you thought of him.” He repeated.
“As an elf that wants to teach me how to ride.” She croaked, thinking of Legolas’s last statement. Haldir must have heard the last of that conversation because he grinned.
“To ride? Is that all?” He asked, quirking his brow.
“Yes, that is all I want to learn from him. Riding is all. How to ride a HORSE that is.” She answered nervously. Temperance fidgeted under his gaze, though she had no cause to. Legolas hadn’t really offered to teach her anything else, not really. Had he? Haldir smiled and thankfully changed the topic.
“Ah okay. Well then I still have the job of teaching you to dance and so forth. As your teacher of etiquette I will speak to your riding teacher about continuing your lessons in the morning.” He stated formally.
“I will be able to continue my riding lesson?” Temp asked.
“You will be, now if you’ll excuse me Temperance I have to speak with Elrond.” Haldir answered.
“About what?” Temp inquired, watching him walk towards the door.
“About you and your lessons this morning.” He declared.
“NO!” Temp cried and started for the door only to have it slammed in her face.
“Damn it.” She swore. She paced the length of her room nervously. Time passed slowly, and then it came. The thing she had been dreading. A knock sounded at the door, and Temp dragged her feet to answer it. Opening it she revealed…………..
