When Calime awoke, she was not on the ground. The feeling against her back was warm, not cold, and a strong arm was wrapped around her waist.
The vision in front of her was of green valleys and rolling hills. Raising her head, she placed her hands on the horse she was riding and took a deep breath, then touched Legolas' hand. "How long have we been riding?" she asked quietly, relaxing against him at their leisurely pace.
"A few hours," he said, "I did not want to wake you." His voice was soft in her ear, his breath warm. She closed her eyes and moaned faintly as she stretched. "How are you feeling?" he asked as her hand came to rest on his again.
Calime could see a few of the elves riding ahead of them. No one was in a hurry. "Better," she replied, squeezing his hand, "Much better."
He rubbed her abdomen softly as they rode. "I am sorry I could not stop what happened," he said, and Calime sighed heavily, "I am so sorry."
"No, nothing is your fault. You kept me strong through it. Without you, I would have not been able to survive." She turned her head to look at him and touched his face gently, "Let us forget this. It is over."
Legolas kissed her lips delicately then pulled her back to rest against his chest. "Sleep if you need to," he whispered, "We have a long ride."
Calime rested her head against Legolas' shoulder as they continued their ride. They were heading towards the West, where they would take the ships to the Grey Havens. It was not safe for any of them here. Boromir had the ring now, and he would be looking for them, to retaliate. Calime was relieved that they were away from Minas Tirith, but she sorrowed for their fate. The world of Men would fail, and with it Middle-Earth would never be the same. Evil would overcome it, and take over all that she had loved in her short centuries.
They rode for days, stopping intermittently for short hours for rest. Calime's strength slowly came back to her, but she was still tired and dispirited. All the elves in the group were quiet, barely speaking to her or each other, for they had endured pain themselves. Legolas stayed with her, but he was more silent than usual. Part of her wanted to talk, to make things better, but another part of her just wanted to forget. She was grateful for his company, but she wanted it to be like it was before. It was important to her, too, for that to happen before they left this life.
At long last they had passed through all the lands leading to the sea. What Calime had hoped for had not yet happened, and as she stood looking out across the water, her body began to tense in anxiety. She didn't know what Valinor was like, or if their relationship would be the same there. Taking a deep breath, she watched as the elves in their group boarded one of the two boats and released it from the dock. The water lapped quietly against the wood as they sailed away into the departing sun.
Legolas approached where she was sitting and sat down beside her. "I told them we would not be far behind," he said, looking at her, "I thought you might like it if we had a boat to ourselves."
Dusk was slowly creeping over the overgrown vines covering the ancient stone walls they sat near. "That would be nice," she said, entwining her fingers in his. "Would it be alright if we talked before we left?"
The departing ship was barely visible on the horizon as Legolas tilted her face to his. "I know what you would say, meleth, but there is no reason for you to. I have been silent, I know, but the days have been long and there has been much to think about. Where we are about to travel will make all our ills disappear. There is nothing more to worry about."
"I want everything to be well," she whispered, "I am afraid. I want what was ours before this ever happened."
Gently tucking her hair behind her ears, Legolas smiled and nodded. "What we had will always be ours. It is ours now." Taking her hand, he stood up and pulled her along with him. "I asked the others to leave so we may have a short time alone together. Glaer ah enni, nin meleth, once more before we leave this earth."
Legolas led her to a small clearing on the top of the hill overlooking the sea. The rose vines swept easily across the grassy floor, collapsing their leaves on the stone benches sitting on the cliff-edge. "Will we have this in Valinor?" asked Calime as they settled on the golden-bathed ground.
"We will have each other," he said, "Our life there will be...different. I admit I know not much more than you do." The back of his hand caressed her face softly, tracing the almost-disappeared bruise. "We will be together, though, and that is all that matters."
Calime closed her eyes when Legolas' lips met hers. He was so soft and gentle, pushing his tongue into her mouth and pleasuring her with soft moans. His kiss was deep and sweet as he pushed her down, laying her back against the grass.
"Are you well?" he asked breathlessly, parting from her lips for mere seconds. He kissed the side of her mouth and along her cheek and jaw, warming her sensitive skin.
She arched into his seeking kisses as he trailed down her throat. "Yes," she breathed, licking her lips as he undid the buttons on the front of her dress and opened the cloth. His mouth tickled over her breasts, licking softly at the flesh bared to him. Calime hissed in a breath when he nipped gently, then smiled when his hands pushed the fabric from her shoulders and drew it down her body.
When she was naked, Legolas moved to his knees and removed his own clothes, watching her with patient, warm eyes. She grinned when he came back down to her, wrapping her arms around his back and meeting his kiss. His tongue moved against hers fervently, seeking heated pleasure. Calime whimpered faintly as Legolas' hands moved over her body, touching every inch of skin he could. She arched back as his hot mouth set against her neck and sucked, marking her with love rather than the hate she had been forced to endure. It felt good to be touched by him again. Shdn'dn't want it to end.
Adjusting himself, Legolas parted her legs and slid into her waiting body in a slow, tender thrust. Calime was still sensitive from the abuse she had suffered, and she hissed in a breath when he filled her.
He stopped and touched her face as her eyes fluttered open. "Should I stop?" he asked quietly, his eyes showing no disappointment, only concern.
Calime clenched her fingers into his skin and shook her head. "No, I want this. I am fine." She pressed one hand against his face and raised hers her up to kiss him gently on the lips. "Rinc, nin meleth, egor im innas caro ha an le."
His eyes turned humoured as he pulled back slowly, then rolled against her hips. Calime arched her neck back and he took advantage, pressing kisses along her throat and shoulder, tasting her soft skin. Her legs curled around him as he moved against her, teasing her body with long, gentle thrusts.
Calime met Legolas with each roll of his hips, pushing her pelvis against his. That familiar tension began to seep into her legs and abdomen and she moved faster against him. He complied with her seeking, forcing himself into her with swift movements.
"Legolas," she gasped when her jerked into her strongly, sending waves of pleasure through her body. His tongue against her throat only added to the flurry of feelings coursing through her, and she soon tensed against him, letting go and losing herself to the tension.
Moving against her writhing body, Legolas came soon afterwards. Heavy breaths escaped both their lips as the sounds of the world slowly came back to them. Calime could hear the sea beneath them, washing against the sandy shore. The sun had set and a silver glow had taken over the garden.
"Melethon-le," she said as the gentle breeze caused her to shiver. The heat of Legolas' body was beginning to lessen.
He brought his face up to hers and smiled softly at her sad expression. "Le innas no enni bereth an pun uir. Min meleth on alfirin."
Calime kissed him tenderly as they rose up and clothed themselves. Sitting back against a bench, Legolas wrapped his arms around her body and drew her close, resting his cheek against hers. "Will you miss this earth?" she asked as the moon sparkled over the water.
"Yes," he replied, "I will miss it greatly. A new life is ahead of us, though, a journey we can take together." He kissed her hair and tucked it behind her ears. "I am looking forward to it."
Calime smiled and sighed. "Me as well, I think," she replied, looking up at him, "I feel better about it."
Rising, Legolas pulled her up and touched her face. "Im ninglor," he said, "I aear can-ammen. Teli."
Taking her hand, he led her down the gray stone steps and towards the boat, towards their destiny.
