His Escape
Chapter 9: His escape
*In Gondor*
Boromir had returned again to Gondor when Aragorn had left Rivendell. He was happy that Aragorn found a new lover. He also knew that Aragorn still loved him. He walked through the halls on his way to his brother and talk to him. He passed a few guards and greeted them. When he arrived at the cell, he opened it and saw his brother hanging there. He saw him shaking and tried not to feel sorry for him. He walked closer and slapped Faramir's face.
Faramir was startled and looked up and saw his brother. A sl smi smile showed on his face. He tried to stand up straight, but his body wasn't listening. He sighed and said, "Dear brother, haven't I been punished enough? I feel sorry for what I did and I want to make it up. Let me go to her and let me tell her that I am sorry." He looked at Boromir with pleading eyes.
Boromir shook his head and said, "Don't call me brother. You are a scandal. And I will not show any remorse. You will stay in here till the end of your punishment. Or when Aragorn says you may go." He looked one more time at him and thought /Aragorn where are you? I don't know how long I can take this. I have to be strong./ He sighed and walked out of the room.
Faramir followed him with his eyes till he had left the room and thought /You wait, fair brother. You will beg for your life when I am through with you./ He looked at the bonds and scowled when he saw his chains. He was thinking of a way and then an idea came to him. He smiled and waited for the guard that would come and bring him food. The door opened to his cell and he saw the guard enter. He looked at him pleadingly and said, “Please let me loose; I promise I won't run away. I just want to eat without these bonds."
The guard took pity on him and unchained his hands and feet. His kindness was soon be punished with a blow to the head. But, thanks to the helmet, he merely felt nothing. He looked at the prisoner and grabbed his sword. Before he was ready, he felt something jamming his back. The guard gasped for air and then he fell on the ground; he looked at Faramir and saw him holding a bloody sword. He coughed a bit. His breathing became more irregular and then he took his last breath and died.
Faramir smiled and said softly, "You fool." He cleaned the sword and looked at the guard. He thought about it and then nodded and thought, "Yes, I will put on his clothes and then I will escape." He undressed the guard and put on the uniform himself. When he was ready, he dragged the guard behind the door and placed him in the chains. He smiled and then walked out of the cell again. He walked through the halls and thought about where Uruviel might be.
He saw his brother walking. He looked at Boromir as his brother walked away from him. He kept walking and then he saw the main doors that led outside. He looked at his brother one more time and then walked outside to the stables. He saw a horse that was all prepared; he looked around to see if anyone was here, but he saw nothing. He walked to the horse and mounted it. He saw a few guards rushing out and knew that that could mean only one thing. They had found out that he had escaped.
Boromir came outside and saw Faramir and shouted, "Grab him!" and pointed at Faramir. He himself ran to the stables.
Faramir took his chance and kicked his horse and rode off in a fast gallop.
Boromir had mounted his steed and galloped behind him. He was angry and shouted, "Faramir stop at once. This is foolish!" He sighed when he saw that his brother wasn't listening.
They kept riding as fast as they could, chasing each other, not giving up. The horses grew tired and were breathing heavily, but the humans riding them were determined.
Faramir's horse gave up first and collapsed on the ground. Faramir was thrown off and cursed under his breath. He rose to his feet and ran into the forest. He heard his brother dismounting his horse and knew that he was still being followed. He wasn't planning to give up so easily. He kept running till he tripped over a root of a tree. He stumbled back on his feet and then turned around, his sword drawn. He looked at his brother and said, "Don’t make me do this. I am not going back to that cell. So you either let me go or it will be the death of one of us."
Boromir shook his head and said, "Faramir, why are you acting this way? Are you ill? You have to come back and be punished for what you did to the guard." Boromir was stunned when he saw his brother was making an attempt to attack him. He snapped out of it quickly and avoided the sword and he took a few steps back and said, "Faramir, please don't do this. Don't make me do it."
Faramir snorted and said, "Stop whining brother. I will do as I wish. And I will find the girl. She's mine."
Boromir shook his head and said, "So be it. But then you have to go through me. I will not let it happen."
Faramir made a bow with his head and said, "Then let the fight begin."
