Disclaimer:
I do not own the Lord of the Rings (and associated) book series, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
A Lot Explained
Okay, on FF.net, I technically have more, but I can only see about 8 reviews. On AdultFanFiction, I had 15 the last I checked. We're along to chapter 8 now, and while I have a few ideas on this, I'm not going to post chapter nine and more until I get at least ten more reviews on each account.
Sorry, but I want to make sure someone's interested. I have other works I might put up first if this is just going to sit.

"You should go speak with your sire," Draugaran said softly. It had been a fortnight since the twins first arrived in the woods, and it was starting to disturb the WolfKing with how quickly these two were picking up on their trails.
Legolas shook his head, not looking back from where he was looking at the fire. Draugaran shook his head, wondering how any creature could be so stubborn. As much as he loved having the energetic young Elf around, he still would have preferred if Thranduil had allowed it. Seeing that he wasn't going to get any more conversation from Legolas tonight, Draugaran left.
"Watch him," the WolfKing told the big black creature that had acted as Legolas' guide so far. The only one of the Wolves other than Draugaran that Legolas enjoyed being around, and had aptly named 'Guide'. Guide was mute, but still imposing.
A slight nod before going back to watching his own pups play and Draugaran continued to leave.
The twins had been getting closer, and Draugaran was getting anxious. He could still smell the two on the underbrush far too close to the den entrance. Knowing that this was going to need some form of diplomacy to difuse, Draugaran turned to the Elven palace and hoped Thranduil didn't carry any weapons.

Elladan jumped at the sight of a big black wolfish creature that suddenly appeared on the railing if the balcony outside of Thranduil's study. He reached for the place on his belt where his sword usually hung and damned diplomacy for making him leave the weapon in his room. Rhiernil, Feinereg, Elrohir, and Thranduil himself looked around for weapons as well, but none were found in the room.
"Peace, Elves," came the deep throated rumble. "I mean no harm."
"What do you want?" Rhiernil demanded, drawing himself up.
Thranduil narrowed his eyes, "Where is my son?"
The creature stood and came closer to the torchlight, hands spread before him in a guesture of peace. "Legolas is quite well, and it is for him that I've come."
Elladan crossed his arms, "And who are you? What connection do you have to Legolas?"
"I am Draugaran, the WolfKing. And would you please stop looking at me like I'd make a nice blanket? Legolas is currently, hopefully, sleeping not very far from here in my home. And it is my interest to prevent a war between us of his stubborn streak."
There was a chuckle from Thranduil and his present sons. "So, you've noticed that already."
If the creature could look sheepish, Draugaran managed that now. "Yes, well, I'm sure you all have a lot of questions; so if you'd take seats, I'd begin."
"You're an arrogant creature, aren't you?" Elrohir asked.
"Of course, I am far older than any of you here."
At the inquisitive looks, Draugaran sighed.
"I'm sure you all know of the Ents, creatures woken by the songs of the Elves. The 'Wolves' as Legolas enjoys calling us, were the same. A few turned to Melkor, to gain power, thinking they were safe. But many joined my sire, and chose to protect the children of the Valar.
"Now, not that we did a very good job, we managed to divert a few instances, nothing that I'd really mention. After the reshaping of Arda, we came here, sensing the remains of darkness spreading to this newly formed forest. Long before Oropher settled along the Anduin, my sire created our den.
"He was killed in the fall of Dol Guldor not long ago, as was my mate."
The Elves absorbed the information and Elladan frowned. "What does any of this have to do with Legolas?"
"I was left without a family of my own, and my pack was decimated by the new Dark Lord. Legolas was dying of his grief, or he would have if nothing was done soon. I admired him, saw his courage in a battle, and chose to foster him."
"Without my consent, or knowledge," Thranduil said.
Draugaran shook his head, "That was not my intention. I only wanted him to come for two weeks of the month, when his senses would be at their most powerful."
Rhiernil glared at the WolfKing, "So you are responsible for his changes."
"Physically, yes. Emotionally, no."
Feinereg leaned forward in his seat, "So you've saved him from fading from grief, but have taken him from us."
"That was not my intention."
Thranduil stood from where he had been sitting, "What was your intention? And what is your intention in being here?"
The Wolf sighed, "It was a rash choice, but I did not want such a bright light to fade from this world. Legolas is important to Arda, I can sense it, he has a task yet. As for coming heremeremerely wish to have one or tf yof you come talk to Legolas."
There was another silence before Elrohir spoke, "And how can we trust you?"
"Bring your weapons if you choose, but I'd rather only two came. It is less threatening to those in my care."
Thranduil nodded, "Very well."
Elrohir sighed, "I'll go as well."
