Summary: Glorfindel seduces someone he should not have; only to find out she is the one who just may be his match.

~ ~ ~

When Glorfindel had followed Brennil to the lake, he had known something was wrong. She was never out this late by herself and had not expected to see her tears. She was shaking in his arms as he held her and when she said he needed to be told something, he tensed up.
“ Tell Me,” he said finally.
“ I am not sure I can.” She whispered softly, knowing she was at risk of losing him for good this time.
“ Tell Me,” he repeated, making her look up at him.
Brennil’s tears fell as she finally gave in and admitted everything to him. She was shaking even more and hesitated slightly when she came to the part of what happened back in her room but once she started to tell him, she could not seem to stop from letting everything out.
Glorfindel stood there, listening to everything and could feel his anger building. He was not even sure whom he was angrier at for all of this. When he realized she had stopped talking, he took a step back. He closed his eyes briefly at the pain in her eyes and just turned and walked away.
Brennil did not have the strength to go after him, no matter how much she wanted to.
“Glorfindel” she called out softly but he never even turned back to look at her. She knew then that she had lost him and probably Elladan as well. She did not care when it started raining and moved to sit against the tree, silently staring out over the water. Within a few minutes, she was soaked and shivering but still she did not move. She no longer cared what happened to her, nothing else matter to her now.

Glorfindel reached his room by the time the storm matched his mood. The sound of thunder only made his anger even worse. Shaking his head, he grabbed a few things and shoved them into his pack before strapping on his weapons. He needed to clear his head and he could not do that while in Rivendell. Leaving a vague note for Elrond, he grabbed his things and left. He had not expected to run into Elladan as he was leaving but the elf stood suddenly in front of him. Had his own anger not already taken hold he would have noted the look in Elladan’s eyes and the twin’s tears. With a deep growl, he suddenly pinned Elladan to the wall, holding him in place by his neck. Elladan did not even try to fight back. “ You had no right.” Glorfindel hissed, his eyes showing his anger. “ Never would I have though I could hate you as much as I do right now. You ever hurt Brennil again, Prince and I will snap you in half.” He growled before letting Elladan drop to his knees.
With that being said, Glorfindel turned and left the manor. Had he looked while he passed the lake he would have seen Brennil there, laying beneath the tree and barely conscious. He never looked and merely continued to leave Rivendell, unsure of when he would return or how he would feel when he did.

Elrond watched the storm from his window, enjoying the sounds of the rain and letting it relax him as he prepared to turn in for the night. He narrowed his eyes when he caught sight of one of the twins running from the manor and wondered why anyone would want to go out in a storm as bad as this one. He watched and waited, not wanting to find rest until his son had returned. When he saw him return a while later he grabbed his robes and rushed out of the room, meeting a very wet Elrohir at the front doors.
“ What happened?” He asked, seeing that it was Brennil that Elrohir had in his arms.
The younger twin just shook his head in reply and followed his father quickly to the healing rooms. He placed Brennil down gently where his father told him then stepped back out of the way. Silently watching his father tend to the younger elleth.
“ Change into dry clothes” Elrond ordered, without looking over at his son.
Elrohir merely nodded, unsure if his father had even seen his reply as he left to get a change of clothes. He had not seen Elladan since his twin had ran out of Brennil’s room. It had been who he had been looking for when he found Brennil by the lake.

“How is she?” He asked quietly when he had returned.
“ She sleeps.” Elrond replied, looking up from the chair he was in. “ She is burning up with fever. I have given her all the herbs I can.” He sighed” all we can do now is wait.”
Elrohir nodded silently as he looked over at Brennil. She lay still in the bed and he could tell she was having some problems breathing. He promised his father he would stay with her while he got some rest.
“ Send for me if there are any changes” Elrond reminded his youngest son before he left the healing rooms.
Elrohir sat quietly, watching Brennil long into the morning. He gave a startled jump when a tray of food was placed next to him. He looked up to see his father there, Erestor was right behind him before he moved over to his daughter’s bed and sat with her.
“ Did she wake?” Elrond asked Elrohir
“ No” he replied.” She stirs often and calls for Glorfindel.” He added quietly
“where is he?” Erestor turned to face them.” If he cares for her as he says he does should he not be here with her?” he questioned
Elrohir did not know how to answer that and looked up at his father. He was relieved when his father asked him to go find Glorfindel and bring him to the healing rooms
“ Hey may not know she is here.” Elrond comment to Erestor as Elrohir had left the room.
“ Why is she here?” Erestor asked, looking back at Brennil.” What was she doing out in last night’s storm?”
Elrond shook his head as he placed a hand on his friend’s shoulder.
“ I do not know.” Was the only reply he could give.

It was a few minutes later when Elrohir came running back in, Glorfindel’s note in his hand
“ He has left.” He said, out of breath from having run all the way.
Elrond took the note and read it but it said nothing other then Glorfindel had to leave for a while. There was nothing about where he planned to go or when he would return.
“where is Elladan?” He asked suddenly. Elrohir could only shrug in reply
Elrond’s eyes had darkened as he pulled his younger soon out of the healing rooms
“ Tell me everything you know right now.” He said, his tone letting Elrohir know that his father was not in any mood to be lied to.
He gave in and told him everything. From Brennil’s staged memory loss to what had happened in her rooms the night before. Elrond could only stare at his son, shocked by what he was hearing.
“Find your twin now” he ordered.” Then both of you wait for me in my office” he said before he went back inside to check on Brennil.
Elrohir was not sure where to look for his twin and began with the usual places they would sometimes go. He had been searching for over an hour when he finally found him. He had hidden himself in the loft above the stables.
“ Elladan” he sighed with relief as he approached his twin. “ Father wants us to meet him in his office.” He said lightly
“ He knows.” Elladan spoke quietly.” Glorfindel knows, that is why he left.”
Elrohir sighed softly and nodded in agreement. He helped his twin to his feet and led him out of the stables
“ Perhaps father can help us fix things” Elrohir said, hoping that there was even a small chance that they could fix any part of this.

Elrond entered his office some time later and said nothing as he sat across form the twins. He silently watched them both when he saw the marks on Elladan’s neck.
“ Glorfindel.” Elladan said quietly when he saw the question in his father’s eyes.” Before he left.”
Elrond took a deep breath. In their own way, he knew the twins had meant well but it was obvious that things had gotten way out of hand. As worried as he was over Brennil, he was also worried about Elladan and how this would affect him as well. He could clearly see the guilt in his son’s eyes and nothing he could do or say in punishment could make Elladan hate himself more then he already did.
“ I know had it not been for the wine you would never do anything to hurt Brennil.” Elrond started to speak.” I also know that your are punishing yourself more then I ever could” he added.
“ I want to fix this.” Elladan said, “ I do not know how.”
Elrond sat back in his seat and had to think of everything that had happened.
“ It is up to you to find and bring Glorfindel here.” He said finally
“ what?” Elladan almost shouted.” He hates me, he will refuse to even speak to me.”
Elrond knew Elladan was worried but he had a feeling things just may work out in time. For who, he was not sure.
“ He does not hate you.” Elrond said.” He is angry and hurt, my son which is to be expected but he does not hate you.”
Elladan was not so sure of that. His father had not seen the look in Glorfindel’s eyes.
“ I do not know where to look.” Elladan sighed.
“ I might have an idea where he is.” Elrond said, giving Elladan directions then watched as his older son left the office. He turned to Elrohir and ran his hand through his hair.
“ What can I do?” Elrohir asked
“ I want you to stay with Brennil.” He said.” She will need a friend with her and I’m afraid you may be the only one she will trust right now.” He said. “ I will have to speak to Erestor about this.”
Elrohir took a deep breath, wondering how Erestor was going to take hearing what they all had done. He knew the advisor would learn of it anyway and it would be better having it come from his father. After a few more minutes, they both left the office and headed to the healing rooms.

Elladan had packed quickly then left to find Glorfindel. It took more then a day’s ride to reach the place his father had told him about. He saw Glorfindel’s horse grazing nearby and knew that his father had been right
“why are you hear?” He heard Glorfindel’s voice just as he had gotten down off his horse
“ I was sent to find you.” He replied, trying to hide how nervous he was. He could not remember a time when being around Glorfindel had frightened him before and that made his guilt even worse. Glorfindel had always been the one elf that Elladan had looked up to and he had destroyed that now as well.
“ I have no plans to return to Rivendell.” Glorfindel said.” You can return with that message.” He said
Elladan took a deep breath as he turned to face his mentor.
“ Brennil needs you.” He said, seeing something in Glorfindel’s eyes but it was gone before he could see what.
“ You mean she remembers me?” He said sarcastically.
“you know she does.” Elladan said, fearing Glorfindel and wanting to hit him at the same time.
“ I do not know anything anymore.” He said, tossing aside the wood he had been gathering.
“ She’s sick.” Elladan said quickly, telling him about how Elrohir had found her by the lake.
Glorfindel hesitated and for a brief moment he glanced over at his horse. Shaking his head he picked up the wood again and started inside
“Your father will tend to her.” He said.
Elladan stared in shock as Glorfindel headed into the small cabin. Had things become so bad that Glorfindel had no longer cared about Brennil.
“No” Elladan said, storming inside after the older elf.” I refuse to believe that you no longer care about her.” He snapped.” What we did was wrong and for that I apologize.” He said, standing directly in front of Glorfindel. “ She wanted to tell you, it was me who convinced her not to. What I did later I will never forgive myself for. I know you care about her, Glorfindel. Do not take you anger at me out on her.”
Glorfindel said nothing as he eyed the younger elf. He was right about one thing, no matter how hard he tried he could not change how he felt about Brennil. Before he even realized what he did, he had reached out and struck Elladan hard, knocking the elf off his feet.
“feel better?” Elladan replied, standing back up and wiping the blood from his lip. “ Feel free to hit me again” he hissed
“ If you ever touch her again..” Glorfindel growled. “ stay away from her, Elladan she is….” He stopped himself as he realized what he was going to say
“she is what?” Elladan asked.” Yours?” he continued. .” If you want her to be yours then why do you refuse to go to her now when she needs you.” He said “ Elrohir told me she’s been calling for you in her sleep.”

Glorfindel turned from Elladan. He still heard every word he was saying but did not want the elf to see the guilt in his eyes. He hated that he had hit him but he would not apologize for it.
“ get ready to leave” he said, grabbing his things and walking out to his horse.
Elladan, still tired from everything that had happened, was having a hard time keeping up with Glorfindel. The older elf said nothing once they reached Rivendell and headed quickly into the healing rooms.
Elrond say Elladan outside the doors and went to speak with him.
“ you are exhausted.” He told his son.” Go rest, we will deal with the rest afterwards.”
Elladan could only nod then turned and headed to his room. Wondering how Brennil was doing but had been too nervous to ask. He fell asleep as soon as he had laid down.
“How is she?” Glorfindel asked quietly, moving right to Brennil’s side. He ignored the look that Elrohir gave him. He would deal with the twins later. Right now his only concern was Brennil
“ She has been asleep since Elrohir found her.” Erestor replied. Sounding as tired as he looked.
“ You should get some rest.” Glorfindel told him. When he saw that Erestor hesitated he added.” I will not be leaving her side. If anything changes I will send for you.”
Erestor finally nodded he placed a light kiss on Brennil’s forehead and left the room.
“ Glorfindel I am sorry.” Elrohir said
“ I do not even wish to speak with you or your twin right now.” He replied.” Leave” he ordered, glaring at the younger twin.
Elrohir merely nodded and left Glorfindel alone with Brennil. At least Glorfindel was with her, it was a start anyway. He would worry about the rest later.
“Glorfindel?” Brennil called out softly.
As he turned to look at her, he saw she was still in a deep sleep and had merely called out for him.
“ I am here, Brennil” he replied, hoping she could hear him.” I will not leave again.” He promised. He moved slowly and eased her into his arms, closing his eyes. After a few minutes he drifted off into a light sleep.
It was how Elrond found them a few hours later, Glorfindel still holding Brennil against him as they both slept. He pulled the blanket over them both and blew out the candle before he left the room and leaving them rest in peace. He could only hope this was a sign of better days. His biggest concern was that Brennil was showing signs of fading. His only hope was that having Glorfindel with her would help pull her back to them before they all lost her.
