PART EIGHT

Elrond watched as Glorfindel readied his men for the upcoming mission. A month had passed since Gildor’s group arrived in Imladris, without Lindir. When Gildor first arrived and told him of the minstrel’s disappearance, Elrond initially wanted to send out a search team right then. However, a vision showed him Lindir was safe and there was no need at that time to hurry. What puzzled Elrond was he saw Lindir in the company of a strange dark-haired elf. Gildor said he remembered some of the other elves telling the story of the cursed elf to Lindir.

Could it be he? Elrond wondered. Could this be the elusive Erestor? If so, did he still believe he was cursed, did he still believe others thought him a Kinslayer?

Elrond had read and studied accounts of that day when Erestor denied Melkor. After the dark-haired ellon had fled the other elves’ accusations, it was found that multiple jagged blades killed the dead Teleri; not the clean edge of an elvish weapon.

The Peredhil felt his heart ache thinking Erestor still thought of himself in that way, a pariah. He had spent many years keeping an ear out for any sign of the Noldo but to no avail. Now here he was! So close and Elrond desperately wanted to bring him here to Imladris. No elf was meant to be alone for so long!!

Two days ago another vision visited Elrond, this one dark and forbidding. Erestor and Lindir were no longer safe but whatever the threat was, it remained hidden.

Therefore, Elrond ordered the rescue party to leave as soon as possible. The weather was warming and the mountain trails would be clearing.

‘Bring them both back,’ Elrond told Glorfindel. ‘Both.’

While he watched the party ride out, the half-elf fought back the urge to scream at them to hurry.

“You sure you saw it?”

“Aye, Garvon! I was tracking some game through the pass when I saw it. Dark, wild looking creature,” the man shuddered at the memory.

“Did he see you?!”

‘No, sir. I was down wind and waited for it to move on afore I left.”

With a grin of anticipation, the other man stood and paced restlessly.

“For too long we’ve lived with that…that *creature* skulking about, terrorizing our village,” he said more to himself than to the other man.

Garvon rubbed his hands through his rusty colored beard as he planned his next move. “Now may be the time we be rid of it!”

Every villager had grown up hearing the tales of the cursed elf, but over the decades the truth had become corrupted, the facts twisted into nightmarish proportions!

“Ready me a score of my best fighters and trackers! We will rid ourselves of this beast once and for all!!”

Erestor watched Lindir as the white-haired elf finished stoking the fire in the fireplace. The minstrel stood, placed his hands on the small of his back and stretched, a hint of a smile gracing his beautiful features.

The Noldo felt his heart leap and his body harden with desire at the vision before him. He could not believe the past weeks had been real; that this elf loved him that they spent every moment they could holding, talking, and making love. A part of Erestor believed it all still a wonderful dream, but the cold, evil voice that had taunted him for these long years was suddenly silent.

Dare he hope?!

Quietly, he set aside the fish he had caught and cleaned earlier and removed the bag that was slung around his shoulder. He gazed at it a moment and felt his heartbeat quicken in anticipation.

He walked closer to the fireplace and paused when Lindir turned to greet him.

“I thought I heard you come in,” he smiled warmly.

The Teleri closed the distance and gently brushed back some hair that had escaped Erestor’s braids, braids that the Noldo had not worn since the last battle. Lindir caressed the raven-black tresses remembering how Erestor had reluctantly allowed him to braid his hair.

He saw the nervousness in the dark eyes and wondered what put it there. Had something happened on his outing?

“I found something of yours,” Erestor said softly as he held out the leather bag.

Lindir froze for a moment then his hands reverently took the object. He opened the flap and looked back up to Erestor; hope warred with fear in those amethyst eyes. At Erestor’s encouraging smile, Lindir slowly reached in and removed the treasure within…his lyre.

“Sweet Elbereth,” choked Lindir. “It cannot be…”

Erestor felt his throat tighten as he watched the way Lindir’s fingertips lovingly stroked the instrument. The minstrel had told him what had caused him to lose track of his traveling party, and it was obvious from the emotion in his voice how much the lyre meant to him.

Lindir finally looked up at Erestor; unshed tears making his eyes shimmer like jewels as he hugged the lyre to his chest.

“How…where?” he did not know which question to ask first.

“I was on my way back from the stream and saw it peeking out from a melting pile of snow only yards from here,” explained Erestor.

“Thank you, my dark one. Thank you for everything,” Lindir practically whispered then leaned closer to kiss his Noldo.

Erestor thought he could not be any happier but he felt Lindir’s joy as if it were his own. Each day with the Teleri was like a day in paradise and each night was heaven! How did he become so fortunate, he often wondered.

“I will prepare dinner. You should make sure the lyre was not harmed by being out in the snow for so long,” Erestor said as he brushed the backs of his knuckles across Lindir’s cheek. He felt his heart warm as the other elf leaned into the contact briefly before turning to sit before the fire.

Erestor watched for a moment then began his task of cooking their meal. There was something he wanted to ask Lindir that caused his stomach to knot with dread…but he had to ask.

“Lindir…now that the snows are beginning to melt,” he began haltingly. He hesitated for several moments, not daring to look up from the counter. “Do you need to return to your home?”

Erestor squeezed his eyes shut tightly, terribly afraid of Lindir’s answer. He jumped when he felt arms wrap around his waist and warm breath on his ear.

“I would like to send a message to Lord Elrond to let him know I am safe…but my home is with you, Erestor. You are the keeper of my heart, my place is with you.”

With a sigh of relief, the dark-haired elf leaned back into the embrace as Lindir kissed away a tear that had escaped to his cheek.

“I know this is so much to accept in such a short time,” Lindir said in between licking the tip of Erestor’s ear. “and I know you still need time to fully understand what it is that we have…but I *am* yours and you are mine.”

Lindir grinned when he felt the slight trembling in the body he held and he felt his own flesh react to it. He pressed closer to Erestor’s back, moved aside the heavy braid and began to nibble on his neck. As his lips and teeth teased the exposed skin, Lindir snaked one hand around to firmly grasp Erestor’s arousal through his leggings.

With a growl, Erestor spun in the embrace and claimed Lindir’s mouth with his own. He fought to control himself but passion rode them both hard, almost mercilessly. The groans and gasps from Lindir only inflamed him and he found himself guiding the slightly smaller elf to the opposite counter.

During the short shuffle, they managed to disrobe and Erestor pulled Lindir tightly against his body. Their engorged, weeping arousals pressed together and both elves gasped at the sensation. Erestor ran a hand down Lindir’s back, over the taunt muscles of his buttocks before carefully tracing a finger through the cleft.

Lindir shuddered with desire when the questing digit circled his opening, finding he was already prepared. Before Erestor could question him, Lindir wrapped a leg around his hip to hold him close as his lips latched onto his ear.

“I wanted to surprise you when you returned this afternoon…but your gift distracted me,” Lindir explained between panting breaths. “Do not make us wait any longer, my dark one. I need you like the air I breathe…I need to feel you within me…now, Erestor. Please.”

Trembling almost violently, Erestor placed his hands beneath Lindir’s buttocks, lifted him easily, and set him back down on the edge of the counter. Lindir’s other leg came around to encircle Erestor’s hips as the dark-haired elf slowly…very slowly entered the willing body beneath him. He held Lindir to his chest tightly as he fought for control, as he waited for the stranglehold on his cock to ease. Once he felt Lindir rock his hips, he knew it was time for him to finally move. He withdrew to the very tip then thrust back into the hot, slick passage. The Teleri could only cling to Erestor as he continued with the long, powerful strokes, each movement caressing the bundle of nerves within his body.

Lindir knew they would not last long; why each time with Erestor felt like the first he did not know and did not want it to change. He felt the hard flesh in his body swell then moments later the hot wash of seed deep within him. Erestor continued to thrust and smiled weakly when Lindir came undone in his arms. The white-haired elf moaned deep in his throat when he felt his release torn from him, the silvery seed spiraling onto both of them.

Erestor rested his face in the crook of Lindir’s neck as they fought to catch their breath.

‘I love you, Lindir,’ he wanted to say but was afraid to voice the words.

As if reading his mind, Lindir turned to face his lover, his lips ghosting over his cheek.

“I know, my dark one. I know.”

The next day found Lindir fishing at the stream. The fish from the previous evening had been ignored and had to be thrown out. The Teleri grinned at the memory, remembering how they bathed together then just enjoyed a light supper of bread and cheese. They spent the rest of the night on the blankets in front of the fireplace as Lindir played his lyre and sang for him. He sighed as his heart threatened to overflow with the love he felt for Erestor.

Last night had been the best night of his life, he thought. The smile remained as he finished up with the fish he caught and began to head back. Erestor had been reluctant to let Lindir out alone but was gently reminded he could take care of himself and Lindir was getting a little bit of cabin fever.

He turned his face up to the sun and found himself laughing. There was still a chill to the air but it was certain spring was here to stay now. So lost in his thoughts, Lindir gasped in shock when he saw the men before him.

“Did you escape him?!” came the whispered questioned.

Lindir’s brow knit together in confusion. What were all these men doing here? Why did they look like they were hunting something?

“I didn’t know it had a prisoner,” one smaller man told the obvious leader. “It must’ve had him locked up when I was here afore.”

The rusty-haired man grabbed Lindir by the arm and pulled him close so he would not have to raise his voice.

“Is it true, elf? Were you that beast’s prisoner?”

“Hey!” another man piped in. “I think that’s the elf that got stolen! You know, from the last time Gildor and his bunch come through. The beast snatched that one from his kin!”

Lindir felt his heart clench with dread as he quickly realized what was happening.

“I am no one’s prisoner,” he said as calmly as he could.

“Huh? You must be confused. Did it hurt you? Come with us! Once we’re done everyone will be safe from that creature!”

“What do you mean?” Lindir asked, afraid he already knew the answer.

“We’re here to finally kill it!”
