Meeting

Meeting

"You wanted to talk to me?" Peter asks, studying me carefully.
My nod is accompanied by silence.
"Viggo," Peter sighs and for just a moment I wish that I had never asked for this meeting, "This would be a lot easier if you actually talked to me. What's the problem?"
"Why do you think that there's a problem?" Oh damn, where did that come from?
He simply fixes me with the patented Peter-Jackson-you-know-full-well-what-you've-done-and-you'd-better-speak-up-about-it-death-glare. "Because you wouldn't have asked to see me if there wasn't. And your performance has been abysmal so far."
"I know." I sigh deeply, stalling. I have to get myself under control, I have to. "I want to quit."
"What?!?"
"I want to quit," I repea, sounding much calmer than I actually am, "I don't think I fit into this crew, into tis project. I'm sorry that you'll have to look for a new Aragorn again but I cannot stay."
"No." He almost sounds as calm as I just did.
"What do you mean no?" My false calm is gone.
"I mean no, Viggo. I don't knw what happened but I remember very well how well you acted when we started filming and I'm not letting the best Aragorn I could have go because of some imagined problem. Is it Orlando?"
"Orlando?" I repear, unable to follow the conversation any longer.
"I saw you talking to Orlando yesterday," he explains, "The two of you seemed a little angry. Is he your problem?"
"No, a least not really," I shake my head, "You have to let me go, Pete," I beg, "It won't do."
"It will," Pete insists and I know the look on his face only too well, it's the look he gets when he insists on a scene being shot for the 20th time because we didn't get it exactly the way he wanted. There's no sense in trying to reason with him now.
"Go and talk to Orlando, Viggo. I'm sure the two of you will manage to sort out whatever it is. I need my cast on speaking terms."
"Yes Pete," I sigh, hating myself for giving in again. That didn't exactly go as plannned.
