CH 8: The duel

Legolas got dressed as Chrissy went back to her room to get dressed. He put on a white shirt and his black tunics. After he had finished dressing he walked down to the room where Chrissy was staying.

Chrissy hurriedly put a dress on behind the funny folding half wall. She step out and went to the mirror.

Then Chrissy put up her hair in a ponytail and went over by the chair to retrieve her bag. She opened and put a little powder on her face. She also put a little something on her lips.

Chrissy heard a knock at the door and said, “Com, th, the door is opened.” Legolas entered the room and was waiting patiently.

In a hungry tone, she stated, "yes, Lets go get something to eat, I am starved.”

King Thranduil woke up early to start his daily activities. He went to his study to write a letter to Lord Elrond. He wrote a letter containing the events that have happen and the woman’s resemblance of Larien Anwamane, his belated daughter that vanished a decade ago.

The letter went something like this:

Lord Elrond, of Rivendell,

Vedui' (Greetings) Hope all is well in the land of Rivendell. I have news of an Edan (human) woman that came to Mirkwood with my son, Prince Legolas. Thus woman, I am worried about, she resembles your daughter a great deal. I pray to the Valor that thy very letter gets to you and not into the wrong hands. I believe ye could better help the Edan woman. She brings great evil with her every step but by not of her own being, but by a greater nature. In the mean time, Legolas will be bringing Lady Chrissy to you for safety.

Namaarie Mellon en mellonamin, (farewell friend of my friend)
King Thranduil of Mirkwood

Signing the letter he asked his advisor, “Elano, find the messenger bird and have this important letter delivered to Lord Elrond personally.

King Thranduil walked out of his study and went to the dining hall for breakfast and he had hoped that the two would be down to soon to join him.

Legolas took her hand in his and walked out the door. They walked down the long hallway and proceeded into the dining hall. The smell of something sweet illuminated the air. Chrissy smelled it right away and removed her hand from Legolas’s hand. She walked over to the table that had what looked like honey bread on it.

Chrissy picked one up and put it on the plate. Then she picked up some hot tea to drink with her honey bread and picked up some fruit to eat. Legolas picked up the same items and placed them on the golden plates.

Then Chrissy walked over to the table where King Thranduil was sitting.

King Thranduil spoke, “Good morning, Ion and Mi Lady. I trust that you sleep well after last night’s occurrences?”

Replying softy, Chrissy said, “I did sleep well after that creepy creature that tried to lure me somewhere, I am just glad Legolas was there in time.”

Sincerely Chrissy looked over at Legolas saying, “I am thankful to have a wonderful rescuer.”

Legolas placed his hands in hers, gazed into the deep blue eyes and smiled sweetly. She looked back into his sky blue eyes and kissed him on the cheek.

King Thranduil saw this and thought, “My son cares a great deal for this peculiar woman, I can see why, and her beauty intoxicates his mind. Larien used to consume his mind, I am glad to see he’s happy, once again.” He would soon find out what secret she hides deep within her soul.

They sat and ate their breakfast and when everyone finished, the conversation went to what they had planned today.
King Thranduil spoke, “Legolas, I had written Lord Elrond of your departure tomorrow, that you and the woman would arrive in a few days.”

Legolas replied, “Lady Chrissy and I shall leave at dawn to travel to the lands of Rivendell.” Curiosity hit Lady Chrissy’s face as King Thranduil took notice and as well as Legolas.

Chrissy spoke up and asked, “Why are we going to, what was the name, River something, Anyway, Why are we going there?”

Legolas laughed, “It’s called Rivendell. We are going to Rivendell, Home to Lord Elrond, to find out why you are here in Middle Earth.”

The confusion yet again hit Chrissy’s features, “Where have I heard that name before? It’s awful familiar, Lord Elrond and this place they call Rivendell?”

Chrissy knew something was strangely familiar about all of the things Legolas spoke about just a moment ago.

Chrissy asked, “Legolas, is it far to this place you call Rivendell?”

Legolas replied, “Uma”, as he nodded his head, “Its about a 3 day journey.”

Chrissy did not realize for a moment that her very thoughts were speaking loudly as a pondering glare came over her eyes as she stated, “If we were back in my time, I could just drive you all in my car.”

Legolas and King Thranduil looked at her with a mirroring odd look on their faces.

Taking notice of this, Legolas asked, “What is thus car you speak of?”

Chrissy replied, still in a pondering mode, “It doesn’t matter, there is no such thing as a car in your time.”

Legolas thought, “Her world has strange name for things.” They did not bring up the subject again.

As she finished her breakfast, Lady Chrissy got up from the table and stated, “I am going to go back to my room to get a few things.”

Replying Legolas stated, “I shall find thee soon.”

Chrissy acknowledged by shaking her head and got up from where she was sitting in the dining area and started walking towards her room. She arrived at her room and opened the door. She walked in and sat on the bed. She stretched out on the bed and began to fall asleep. She did not realize that she was so tired.

Later that day, Legolas came into the room and found her fast asleep on the bed. He had been looking all over and no one had seen or heard from the woman since breakfast. He had missed the company when she was around him. He sat there on the bed watching her sleep.

Legolas moved a piece of her hair away from her face and looked upon the features of her face while she slept so peacefully.

She felt someone enter the room and it startled her as it woke her up.

She smiled thankfully because she had hoped it was Legolas who made her jump a little.

In a sleepy tone, Chrissy asked, “ Have I been sleeping for a while?”

Legolas replied, “Aye, Mi Lady.”

“I guess I needed more sleep.” Chrissy stated as she stretched as she rose up from the bed to speak to Legolas.

Legolas stated, “Its alright, I was worried about you.”

Smiling Chrissy got up out of bed and stated, “Show me around your home and maybe you can give me a lesson or two on how to fight.”

With much surprise of this request, Legolas replied, “If that is what thy lady wishes, then I shall teach thee.”

Chrissy got up and changed her clothing behind the half wall. She put on a white shirt, a bra, panties and a pair of black tunics. She went to her bag and pulled out her scrunchy and put her hair up.

Strangely Legolas gazed about her and asked, “What is this creation that you used on the hair.”

With that look, Chrissy laughed and replied, “Its just something used back in my world to pull up your hair.”

Legolas shook his end and stated, “Lets get going before we loose the light.”

They both had gone outside, through the stables and opened another door where there was two Elf guards standing. Legolas spoke to them and entered into where their weapons were stored. Legolas had picked a sword up and began to swing it around in the air.

Chrissy browsed around in the room where she saw all types of swords, bows and arrows. She saw a bow that caught her attention and rubbed her fingertips against it. It was so appealing, the way it shined, and the golden leafs that were crafted into the wood by hand.

As she was touching, a flash back engulfed her mind. She was standing in the woods with Legolas and he was teaching her how to shoot the bow.

With Legolas’s hot breathe in her ears, “Release it softly.”

Chrissy saw the target ahead and shot the arrow out of the bow. Happiness rained her body as she hit the object.

Legolas tapped her on the shoulder and asked, “Are you alright my dear?”

Still a little engulfed in the memory, Chrissy replied, “Yes, I am fine, just thinking about the time you showed me out to shoot an arrow out of this bow.”

Not realizing what was she said to Legolas, she was so mesmerized by the memory of the lesson, Legolas gasped at what she said because he taught Larien how to shoot that very same bow.

In a startled tone, Legolas asked, “Lady Chrissy, I have not taught thee yet to shoot a bow and arrow?”

Quickly turning around as she changing the subject, Chrissy asked, “I see that you have found a sword for me?”

Displeased by her answer, Legolas asked, “You did not answer me?”

Trying to avoid the conversation, Chrissy asked, “I meant would you show me how to use this bow?”

Think for a moment, knowing she was not telling the truth Legolas replied, “I shall teach thee.”

Legolas grabbed the bow and some arrows along with the swords.

Chrissy looked down at what he hand picked out for her to practice with and he placed it in her hands.

Feeling the weight of it and Chrissy stated, “This is pretty light for a sword.”

Replying, Legolas said, “Its made out of elfish steal.”

Enthused about getting started, Chrissy smiled and said, “Lets go practice.”

They both walked through the door and back out through the place where the horses were stored, as she followed Legolas. He set up some targets for them to practice shooting the bow.

Legolas placed her in the right spot and stood closely around Lady Chrissy as he spoke like a warrior stating, “Now, look at the targetep yep your eyes on it.”

Like in the memory, Chrissy could feel his hot breathe in her ear, she asked playfully, “How I am to concentrate with you around me?”

Legolas smiled softly as he said, “I am sure you will manage, now hit your target.”

Legolas was getting ready to help her when, smiling Chrissy released the arrow, she hit the target of the apple as the fruit split right in half.

Chrissy jumped in joy but little did she know Legolas did not help her with the shoot.

Legolas raised his eyebrow in surprise as he spoke, “That was very good since I did not help you.”

Changing the subject again, Chrissy stated, “Really, well let’s try the swords.”

Legolas was trying to understand this woman while they walked to a field and he said, “First rule, and do not let your guard down.”

Standing in position, Chrissy said, “Alright, Let’s get started.”

As Legolas began her training and the swords hit. She got scared because the elf was so much stronger than her own strength.

In a protesting tone, Chrissy stated, “This isn’t fair, you’re a male and have the upper body strength.

With a fierce warrior attitude, Legolas answered, “Do not think that your opponent is stronger, only think, they are weaker than your self.”

Chrissy did not take his advice but kept pounding the sword against his as they met in the air. He tried to pin her against the tree in a battle but she quickly remembered some gymnastic she took as a child and did a flip and was out of the trap.

Legolas was stunned for a moment of the trick that she performed. He quickly regained his composure and started to cling swords with his opponent. They fought for hours and Chrissy began to weaken. So she thougf a f a way to end this, then she snapped into the mode where she began to fight like only an Elf would have known.

Then, Chrissy tripped Legolas and caught him off guard. She swooped down with the sword and almost cut him in the shoulder. She quickly realized and came out of the battle mode. She stepped a few feet away and dropped the sword. She could not believe this was her fighting. She turned around and began to contemplate on what just happened.

Disturb by her actions, Chrissy said, “I am sorry Legolas, I don’t know what came over me.”

Laughing Legolas replied, “Its alright, that was most impressive. No one has given me a good fight like that in ages.”

Also adding, Legolas spoke, “This is enough training!” You fight well, where did you learn to sword fight?”

Please review........What do you think? Will she tell him? Or flake out?
