Summary: Glorfindel sings a lullaby.
A/N: The song and its lyrics belong to Jewel. It’s a beautiful song, if you have a chance to hear it. It’s tagged onto the end of the song “Absence of Fear,” on the album “Spirit.”

“There's a little bird somebody sent
Down to the Earth to live on the wind
Blowing on the wind
And she sleeps on the wind
This little bird somebody sent.”

Erestor leaned against the door jam, listening as his husband sung their children to sleep. Glorfindel’s voice seemed as golden as his hair, weaving a melody of bluest skies and lightest winds.

“Light and fragile and feathered sky blue
Thin and graceful, the sun shining through
She flies so high up in the sky
Way out of reach of human eyes.”

Glorfindel wandered between the four beds, tucking in limp arms and legs and smoothing back hair. His voice was strong and bewitching to the extreme. Their children were quiet, listening in wide-eyed wonder. Erestor couldn’t blame them; he did the same.

“Light and fragile and feathered sky blue
Thin and graceful, the sun shining through
She flies so high up in the sky
Way out of reach of human eyes.”

The last pair of eyes glazed over in the sweet reverie of elfling dreams. Glorfindel looked up from the last of his ministrations to see his husband lurking in the doorway. He smiled as he finished the lullaby, walking slowly and quietly to not disturb the enchantment of his voice.

“Light and fragile, she's feathered sky blue
Thin and graceful the sun shining through
And the only time that she touches ground
Is when that little bird, little bird
Is when that little bird, little bird
Is when that little, little bird dies.”

Glorfindel ended his song on a quiet, almost inaudible note. Erestor was afraid to breath, or break the spell that was cast over the room. Glorfindel leaned forward and captured Erestor’s lips in a kiss just as golden and breathtaking as his song of moments before. They broke the kiss and Erestor pulled Glorfindel to him. He held the smaller elf in a warm, comforting embrace as he watched his beautiful children sleep.
