ANGEL

Arwen noticed Glorfindel walking along the corridor, his shoulders hunched, his head bent low. Concern caused her benignant features to knit into a mask of concern for him.

“Glorfindel?” She approached, seeming to float along the hallway like a benevolent angel. He turned and gazed at her in silent appreciation.

“Why do you look so sad, Glorfindel?” she asked, her voice a deep well of empathy.

“I have my reasons,” the warrior muttered.

Her hand fluttered to his cheek and her fingers swept away a drop of blood that oozed from a cut in the fine bone. “Someone has sliced you during sword-practice,” she said.

“My wounds are deeper than would appear,” was his response.

“Poor Glorfindel,” she whispered. Her breath was like a wisp of sweet mist against his face.

“You are kind as well as beautiful, my Lady,” he uttered, his lips moving close to hers.

Then he lifted his head and with a murmured apology, he was gone.
